Canes Want Third Logo. Asking Fans To Tweet Them.

Get rid of the rose logo. Bring back one of the greatest logos in sports history. Colors as well. If the Carolina mountain people in the audience don't associate with that logo, too bad. It's embarrassing that one of the greatest logos and jerseys in sports isn't being used. Instead, we get the rose logo and the cookie cutter red and white jerseys that 1/3 of the teams in the league wear.

No More Hockeytown At Center Ice?

I agree. The boards as well. Does anybody buy these companies' products because their logos are on a freaking hockey rink? Come on, even American consumers aren't that weak minded.

No More Hockeytown At Center Ice?

I'm glad the organization is finally accepting that they're no longer relevant.

Knuckles vs Numbers - The death of the enforcer

The enforcer role was popular until Obama became President.
  5. Honestly, the life of a tough guy nowadays can't be that stressful. There's hardly any fighters or enforcers on 80% of the teams you play against.

Any tips on ways to tolerate the NBC media?

I enjoyed hockey a lot more when Gary Thorne was calling the games. Bring back Clement as well. Emrick and whoever the color commentator are just don't anything for me. Connor McDavid will only be playing 7 times on NBC. He will, however, play in 17 NBC televised games if he gets traded to the Flyers before the season and plays in all 82 games.

    Stan Mikita Passed Away today

The man had an amazing resume and is one of the great centers in the game's history. He won 4 Art Ross trophies in 5 years. Only a handful of players did that. He was voted to the All-NHL first team 6 times. He's also one of the best defensive centers of all-time.

    Vladimir Konstantinov

No. Has never won the Norris trophy or had a memorable playoff run. Doesn't have Phil Housley's sexy numbers.

    Vladimir Konstantinov

Stevens changed his career like no other player I can think of. He went from being a productive offensive defenseman to a dramatic reduction in stats and becoming a defensive defenseman. Guess how many Norris trophies he won, though?
  11. No. There's some great photos and videos of the first McDonald's opening in Moscow in 1990 or 1991. I'd recommend taking a look.
  12. I lived in Soviet Russia back in the early 90's. It's not that anyone starved, but that you had to wait in line forever for food sometimes, and didn't really have the pickings of what you wanted. You ate what was available and not what you wanted to eat. Limited choices.

    Vladimir Konstantinov

That's a good point. Physically he'd have a better chance to wear out than Lidstrom did.

    Vladimir Konstantinov

Lidstrom was a freak of nature though. Hard to expect anyone else to play like that in their 30's. I've always thought it should go to the best overall defenseman. The players that have usually won it were great all around. Every now and then, it's given to someone who's great offensively but not so much in their own zone. Rarely is it the other way around. Like I said, Langway is an outlier.

    Vladimir Konstantinov

Langway was an outlier, but he was one of the very best defensive defensemen of all time. He also played more seasons in the NHL. Stats similar to Langway's didn't win too many Norris trophies in the 90's. Also, stats similar to Langway's don't get you into the HHOF these days as a defenseman. Now it's someone like Housley who scored a billion points but wasn't very good in his own end. Look at a great defensive defenseman like Foote, who was a prominent part of all those Avs teams. He'll likely never get into the HHOF. And oh yeah, there's the North American bias. There's so many great foreign born players who still aren't in the HHOF.

    Vladimir Konstantinov

LOL. There's a thread about this on HFboards' history section and it's not even close. He wouldn't be in the HHOF. He was already in his 30's when the accident happened. He would have needed to play another 10 years at an absurd level to make the HOF. He was never known for his offensive prowess, and that's what makes the HOF these days. Look, Konstantinov was a very good player for the Wings and it's terrible what's happened to him, but his career trajectory has been way too overstated on this forum. On what planet would he actually make the HOF or get his number retired? Not on this one.

    Top 50 NHL Prospects

The name Veleno sounds too similar to another player we used to have.
  18. I hope you're joking.
  19. Maybe she didn't like shaved chests. I just noticed in that picture Calgary has a player named Jankowski. Why didn't Witkowski and Jankowski fight? The Polish community in Detroit would have loved that.

    Anthony Mantha Signs ($3.3M x 2 yrs)

That's a good signing. Can't believe he didn't go for way more than AA. Mantha needs to fire his agent.

Favorite Ken Holland Catchphrase / Quote

This was my thread but I honestly can't think of too many new Holland quotes since then. Holland has become a withered flower more than the butt end of a joke of a fading team.

Andreas Athanasiou Officially Signed 2 yrs. $3M AAV

Actually, that's one of the most underrated things about Gretzky. He won many puck battles and worked really hard to get into the right positions. He wasn't some supremely fast, talented player with a hard shot.
