Tatar traded to Golden Knights for 2018 1st, 2019 2nd & 2021 3rd

Jiri Slegr played one SCF game for the Wings in 2002 and got his name on the Cup. I wonder how he felt about that? -
This thread is no fun without kipwinger.

I haven't. I frequently joke that he should play in some Wings games, just to play behind this sorry ass defense that he's assembled over the years.

I heard that after last night's game, the Russian government is going to invite Pekka Rinne to play in exhibition games in which Vladimir Putin is a participant.
-
Could there be two cities more different than Las Vegas and Winnipeg?
-
Rinne reminded me of Patrick Lalime against Toronto in game 7. Talk about putting your team under the bus.

I remember watching game 1 of the Anaheim/Dallas series in 2003. That one also ended in the 5th overtime, though I believe it was in the very first minute of the 5th overtime. The game started at either 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. local time, and ended after 1:00 a.m. I was rooting for the Ducks, but after a certain point, I just wanted someone to score. You watch just to see if it will ever end. I can only imagine how much a game like that takes out of a team. Especially the losing team. 94 saves is remarkable. That goalie will be sore after the game.

I want to see a Tampa vs. Vegas finals, just to see how bad the ice conditions would be. Will be over 100 degrees in both cities by that time in early June.

Bye bye S**tsburgh.

Should have done it last year or the year before. I don't see them beating Tampa or whoever comes out of the West if they get to the SCF. Would be bittersweet for them if they could finally beat Pittsburgh and blow it in the next round, but it's all about timing. I don't think this is Washington's year to win the Cup. As we all know, the playoffs only get tougher once you get to the final four. How many teams do you think would like to rewind the expansion draft and have a do-over? I say lots. Nobody could have foreseen the impact some of these players made, especially a guy like William Karlsson, Riley Smith, Eric Haula, etc. They chose all the right players, many of whom have never played this well in their lives. It's the greatest draft in sports history. I'm thinking their management did some kind of time travel to pick these players.
-
I disagree somewhat. It's hard to build chemistry with 20 players who've never played together before. Salary cap or not, that's just not supposed to happen so easily. Their ability to come together as a team has been impressive.

That used to be called "playing hockey"

What a great night of games. Same with last night's game on the West coast.
-
I was thinking more of their top line, but yeah that's a good joke.

Where did Nashville and Winnipeg find all these right-handed shots? It feels like our GM has spent the last 12 years looking for a right-handed shot who can actually shoot and these two teams are loaded with such players.

Dahlin should pull a Lindros and say that he wants to play for the Red Wings because of the Swedish Mafia. -

Fire Blashill! The NHL isn't as smart as the NBA to rig the draft, so that might happen. There shouldn't even be a team in Carolina anymore. -
ESPN lists most dominant champions of last 20 years: 2008 Red Wings come in 9th

Wow, we haven't had a flame war on LGW in like 4 years. Reminds me of the good old days. -
It's hard to envision the Capitals going deep in the playoffs with Holtby as their goalie. This guy is not a wartime consiglieri.

Not really. He was a great playoff performer over a three year period or so, but those guys were more consistent in the postseason for a longer period of time. Fedorov for sure was a better playoff performer. Shanahan was clutch for a while but faded towards the end of his Detroit stay. Three years is simply not enough time to be considered a better playoff performer than Hall of Fame players. -
Washington's goaltending isn't much better. And Bobrovsky may be the worst playoff goalie since Roman Cechmanek.

Nevermind. I forgot who I was arguing with about Franzen. I may as well ask DraperFan (is he still around?) how he feels about Todd Bertuzzi. -

He was injured in the Dallas series. He had a great chance of winning the Conn Smythe that year if he posted 15+ goals. Even though Zettterberg was so clutch on both sides of the ice, those kind of goal scoring numbers would be hard to ignore. -
Should The Wings Re-Sign Mike Green?

Daniel Bryan is back performing in the WWE. That means Green will be back as well. -

Once again, you're comparing different eras and styles of play. It doesn't matter how Robitaille would skate in 2008. I don't want to diminish what Franzen accomplished, but yes he did pad his stats playing against Theodore, who was god awful in that series.
