My answer is a resounding, YES. There's a place for thugs everywhere in the world. I say scratch Kopecky and dress a thug in his place. We won't lose anything, but will instead gain the pleasure of seeing an Andre Roy get beat down for going after one of our skilled players.
-
Yes we do. Preferably someone who scores minimal points, can't skate very well, turns the puck over at times, but loves to fight and is a complete "THUG" as you so eloquently put it. On a serious note, I didn't like seeing that French ****** Andre Roy throwing jabs at the back of Zetterberg's head, and no I don't give a rat's ass that it may or may not have given us a PP. Downey would have challenged Roy after that incident. BTW, anyone who makes that "PP is an enforcer" argument should be disqualified from participating in this thread. It's a pathetic thing to say and I don't know how anyone can bring themselves to post it.
-
Because Cuthbert won't be blogging anymore on NHL.com Come on dude, haven't you been paying attention to the other side's wonderful arguments so far?
-
I can't believe I just spent the last 3 hours listening to Pierre McGuirre performing fellatio on the entire Calgary Flames organization. He's lucky Lilja didn't hear what he was saying the whole game, or he would have gone over there and beat McGuirre's ass.

Bettman is a bumbling idiot. As I've already stated, he's the Jacques Clousseau of the NHL. How can anyone defend his paranoid actions in this situation? If he does think that Avery is bad press for the NHL, then this suspension only made things worse, because it drew more so-called negative attention to the league. Either way you look at it, Bettman failed.
-
Lilja needs to posterize Phaneuf again like he did last year. If Phaneuf thought that last week was tough for him and Cuthbert, wait till PAIN TRAIN runs him like he did Sheldon Souray. Come on Andreas, the team needs a boost right now.

Red Wings defense = lazy ass effort. Time to change the lines combos, Babcock.

I wasn't posting in order to sound classy. With an incident like this, I can either not care, laugh, or feel sad. Since he plays for the team I hate, I'm not going to be sad about it, nor am I not going to pretend that I do not care. So what does that leave me with? You guessed it, laughter.

I guess all those divealanche fans who were cheering when Lidstrom got hurt last year aren't cheering now. Serves those retards right. Truth is that Sakic should have retired after last year's injury-ridden season. Hopefully, he'll retire after this year, and start a business where he can sell safer, more consumer-friendly snowmobiles.
-
I know several of you won't like me saying this, but this is downright hilarious. Their team has blown all year, so what does the captain do.... he gets injured by a snowblower. That's O.K. divelanche fans, you can always hope that Forsberg will come back for one more playoff round. What are the chances that he ever gets injured this way? And yes, I'm the kind of Wings fan that laughs when a divealanche or Blues player gets injured, so if you don't like it, tough luck.

People have a right to criticize Ozzie. He's the number one goalie on the team that has the most expectations, and he's not played well at all. The Wings and Lions don't have the same expectations, thus no one should make that comparison. Ozzie is lucky he doesn't play in Montreal or Toronto, because then he'd have sportswriters up his a** all day.
-
The Hurricanes should bring back the Whalers logo.

What you have to realize is that most average joes get their sports news from sportswriters and sports talk shows on espn and such. And it's a no-brainer that sportswriters, just like any other reporters, would rather interview someone wild and unpredictable, rather than some goofy looking euro who doesn't speak a word of English. Talk shows on espn last week were finally talking about something having to do with an actual NHL player. Yeah, it might not be the kind of exposure the league wants, but right now beggars can't be choosers. The league needs more wild and unpredictable media personalities, and with guys like Avery, you have to take the good with the bad, since he'll say some stupid things from time to time. Bettman just doesn't know what's best for hockey. If he did, he would have resigned many years ago.

I'm sick of posts like this where people complain about those who complain. Without panic, these threads wouldn't be as fun as they are. Complaining is one of the only true rights that we have as people. It's a way to fight the man, so I say complain away all you want folks.
-
Big difference. The Bertuzzi incident made people convinced that hockey was an ultra-violent sport with cheapshots where anything goes. The Avery soundbite probably raised eyebrows from people who didn't even know that hockey players were ever interviewed, or could even speak English for that matter. As I stated in an earlier post, reporters in Dallas would rather interview Avery then someone like Brenden Morrow or Jere Lehtinen. No one in the media should care what those guys are going to say, since it'll probably be boring and predictable like most sports interviews are. Avery is like a Charles Barkley, in that the media will flock around him to hear what he'll say. That's what hockey needs more of.

What we really need to work on is to use bigger goalie equipment, so that we don't have to score 5 and 6 goals every game in order to win. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the lines jumbled, to get some more spark defensively. The scoring shouldn't be affected, since these players have all played with each other at one point or another in the last few years. Hossa is an exception, but I'm sure he'll fit in fine whoever he plays with.
-
One thing is for sure, the Dallas Stars get my vote as the whiniest team in sports and a team that I wouldn't want to play for when the s*** was hitting the fan. I'd sure like to know what other things Avery did in his short stint there to piss people off that way. I hope his so-called teammates aren't jumping on him just for this one incident. I think the fairest thing to do is to bring him back, and to strip Morrow of the captaincy and give it to Avery. Then the team would rally around him.

Melrose Hopes Tampa Doesn’t Win Another Game This Year
GMRwings1983 replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in General
I didn't realize Melrose was such a spiteful fellow. -
Is this the team you want to see go into the playoffs?
GMRwings1983 replied to shoe's topic in General
Of course not. Our defense and goaltending sucks right now, and we're giving up way too many goals to even be sure about making it out of the 1st round. As for the players, a few changes are always made to every roster throughout the season, so I'm sure that Holland won't sit around and do nothing. I wouldn't do anything major, but getting a few grinders on the 3rd and 4th line as well as one more physical D-man in some kind of trade wouldn't be a bad idea in my mind. The cap will unfortunately make any kind of trade hard to pull off. -
If you look at Gratton's career stats, he's been one hell of a good hockey player, and his durability has been remarkable. I find it rather odd that he's been moved around so much in his career.
-
The league might not need them, but I sure as hell do.

Which player in the NHL would wanna play for detroit the most?
GMRwings1983 replied to a topic in General
Boogaard, McGrattan, Parker, Brashear, Orr,.....you get the idea. And no, I don't care if none of these guys have any talent whatsoever. -
Trying to outdo my post on the first page, huh? Good, but mine was still better.

A few weeks ago someone was predicting Hank to possibly finish with 50. I guess that has gone into the toilet. It''s all going to depend on injuries. If Franzen, Hank and Homer could stay healthy, then we'll have 5 guys possibly hit 30. I doubt that will happen now.
