I'm not quite ready to give up on Smith yet thiugh I'd be ok with trading him. Quincey on the other hand went back to traded a 1st round pick for garbage Quincey. He's brutal and he's been taking really bad penalties lately.

Not having both Glendening and Nyquist on the team but having Cleary makes me sad. Side note...Cansucks! -
And Ouellet play on the other side of him...and he looked damn good in his 1st NHL game.
-
Grossman is slower than molasses. One of the biggest pilons in the NHL. I'd try to move Quincey and promote Ouellet. Move Tootoo and Eaves and bring up Nyquist followed by Jurco next year with a spot for Mantha should he earn it. I'd buy out Franzen this summer if he can't be traded and offer the best UFA his salary plus a little more and for a few years. If Weiss doesn't pan out this year then see what we can get for him but i see a line of Tatar-Weiss-Nyquist doing some damage. Trust our quality draft picks and trim the fat. Make a big trade if/when it makes sense and for someone that's a good fit. Until Vamek and Moulson re-sign with their teams they could be on the radar as a UFA pick up this summer.
-
Recall Ouellet, Sproul or Almqvist. Even Lashoff.
-
Jurco seems like a guy who will make an impact at the NHL level as long as he gets top 6 minutes, or is at least on a line with Nyquist/Tatar and Helm as a 3rd line. Tatar and Nyquist could make an offensive impact, but they need to be on the team for starters and playing good minutes with good players, such as Dats, Z, Mule, Weiss, Alfredsson, Helm.....Andersson is a shutdown guy who needs to be our 4th line C fighting for a spot this summer against Glendening and Sheahan. No more signing over the hill vets to 2 year contracts when we could have the guys mentioned as well as Pulkkinen, Jarnkrok, Tvrdon and then Mantha who currently has 39 points in 15 games, with 19 goals in the QMJHL. That kid will certainly not kill our offence as long as he can take his game to the NHL level. This summer, Kenny needs to let Cleary, Tuzzi, Sammy and Quincey go.

71. Clearly Cleary keeps getting better with age.

Who is Zetterburg? The problem is that we need younger, more skilled forwards to replace Cleary and Tuzzi (Tatar/Nyquist/Jurco). We need Helm back in the line up and we need to give quick young grinders like Glendening spots on the team before Holland prematurely blows a wad to sign Miller, who was his 1st signing this summer. Not a bad player, but redundant and easily replaceable. It's more to do with the GM doing a bad job than Babcock using the lame tools he's given. Except Filppula went back to his old ways last year and played like a peewee turd so the Wings let him go. In Tampa, he's currently playing like a guy that's worth 5 mil. Last year he was playing like a guy who deserved 1.5 mil.
-
Nope. Sammy, Cleary, Miller, Eaves and Tuzzi are WAY more important than someone who produces more than all of them put together…..and is a RH sniper.
-
And they have Filppula looking comfortable in Tampa and playing great hockey.
-
Quincey was garbage last game too. 2 boneheaded penalties and gave up the breakaway in OT. He's an asshat.
-
OP suggested a 2 for 1 trade. We would be freeing up a roster spot by dumping 2 guys to add Moulson for some much needed offence. Win/Win scenario assuming that the Sabres will let him go.
-
Dan Cleary, Drew Miller, Abs in the top 6 cause he's doing nothing offensively, Weiss hasn't done jack yet and Sammy's contract along with yet again the Cleary signing keepin Nyquist in the minors. So basically our offensive woes are Kenny Holland's fault.
-
You mean like our 3rd line from the playoffs and half the season last year of Nyquist-Andersson-Brunner? That's why our 3rd line needs to be Tatar-Helm-Nyquist once Helm comes back. Weiss needs to mesh with someone and hopefully fast. It's been 11 games now, he's gotta get some chemistry going and get some points. Dare I say he move to the wing with Z and Dats and the 2nd line be Alfredsson-Mule-Tuzzi/Abs? Franzen is way better at center than wing. He said it himself and it's on MLive, he gets in the game more and keeps his feet moving more at center and it's very apparent out there. We definitely need to let the likes of Cleary and Miller go and Tuzzi and Sammy will be done after this season anyways. Lets hope that our GR boys that won the championship fill the voids left instead of bridge the gap signings again. I want more Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco types to come up and learn full time from Dats and Z before they're gone. Watching game tape isn't as effective as getting in the line up and on the ice with them.
-
Personally, I think once Sproul refines his 2-way game a bit and makes the Wings, he's gonna top 20 goals on a regular basis. I can't wait to watch the likes of Sproul, Ouellet, Almqvist, Jensen, Marchenko, Backman......I really hope that Kenny lets Quincey go again this summer.
-
Maybe cause the shot he took that the goalie caught was going at least a foot wide. @ Mule.
-
Unlike the gqme agqinst the Sharks, our boys decided to not block shots and screen Howard so he had no chance. Pathetic effort this evening.
-
All the young talent is log jammed in the system so we could keep Cleary, re-sign Miller and not bury Sammy in the minors instead of Nyquist. If Cleary didn't sign, we could have afforded to bury Sammy for even slight cap relief and have Tatar and Nyquist up to give this team some much needed energy especially with Helm out.

Everyone was abysmal tonight. No urgency, no grit, no swagger at all. It was essentially like simming a game in NHL 14.
-
I think they should interview Spezza, tell him the score and just let him do his stupid laugh for 5 minutes straight and then go to a blue screen.
-
Grand Rapids?

Mostly floaters from the side boards or logo hunting missiles.

Who's our trade deadline acquisition?
-
Well....the Wings played a game tonight, but it wasn't hockey.
