This. The only players who have been on the roster this season that should see this rebuild through are Seider, Raymond, Berggren, Ras, and Soderblom. Maybe Hronek, but he likely has more value as trade bait.
-
100% agree. In Montreal he was so effective with Weber because Weber was the guy. I guess Chiarot saw Seider as a young padawan and figured he had to take the reigns. But yeah, coaching should have seen that wasn't working. Seider needs to be the go to guy regardless of his partner. Thank f*** for Walman.

Larkin & Bertuzzi Contract Watch? Red Wings TDL Discussion.

It's amazing the difference a legit franchise center can make. Yzerman rebuilt this team's d pipeline in two drafts. He needs to do the same down the middle. -
Sophmore slumps are very real. But both players have shown to have gotten back to what they were last season. No concerns there. Chiarot sucks. Rare Yzerman L. This team sucks with goalie development. Nothing new there. Copp started the season, not 100%, but has been totes fine. Also the first year with a new team and all that. I feel he rebounds in a big way next season. The Vrana issues I feel have nothing to do with any coach. I 100% agree with the Chiarot-Seider pair. Because Chiarot sucks. Seider immediately back to form once he got away from him. Dekeyser sucked to but at least he let Seider play his game. This team is just not that good. But also not bad enough to get any better. Whose ready for annual finishes of the 15th-20th team in the league? I just hope Yzerman course corrects and we don't waste Seider and Raymond.

I'd just like to see a coaching staff in GR that can get them to win games. Learning how to win is a pretty important part of player development. Right now our prospects are getting none of that. Individual success is fine and all, and it's great to see how some of our prospects not yet in the AHL are performing. But once they get to GR it should be prepping for a decent playoff run. Not winning one night and getting blown out the next. It's no surprise those same results carry over to the Wings roster. Standards should be established before these kids touch the winged wheel.
-
I should have been more specific. I don't think individual player development has been bad outside of goalies. I'll concede that development was a poor use of words there (outside of goaltending). I'm more talking about overall team play. Like, coaching staffs and whatnot need to be heavily reviewed because we can't have our farm teams playing like s***. The kids need to learn how to win. Agree we don't have a 2C, but we aren't gonna be a perennial contender with Larkin as a 1C either. The defense is the one position I'm not worried about. The talent is in the system there. But once again, there are issues with overall team play that must be addressed. That is the part of development I have been referring to, albeit not very clearly. Good individual stats is fun and all but means little if they can't translate to AHL wins. Though the goaltending problems in this franchise are helping nothing. I'll once again reference Tampa and how strong their AHL affiliate was. Perennial Calder Cup contenders. Players from that roster were able to jump into the NHL lineup seamlessly and perform. Something in GR gotta change to start turning individual success into wins, because right now it isn't happening.

Nope. It's pretty apparent coaching isn't the problem. A lack of high-end talent is. Raymond and Seider are our high-end talent. They still have lots to learn before they reach the point we need them to in order to be contenders. I figure it's at minimum 3 seasons before we start to see what players they will become in their prime. Larkin will be ready to enter his 30-year-old season at that point. It starts to become pretty clear how bleak things look without another high-draft pick or two. Once the likes of Edvinsson, Wallinder, and Johansson get enough reps at the NHL to become an NHL-winning d-core, the roster is simply not good enough upfront with what is in the system now. Not even close. The first need is a legit franchise center. Kasper will be good, but he ain't it. Larkin also ain't it. Especially factoring in his age. The odds of getting these needs in the 10-20 pick range is pretty wishful thinking. tl;dr: We need a top 5 pick to get a potential 1C. The current path we're on we'll be like the Blues, where you hope the planets align where you get one good run at a cup. I'd rather suck a little longer to stockpile high-end talent like Tampa. The assets we can obtain selling Bert and Larkin would help a lot. There are zero reasons for us to have any less than 3 first-round picks in the upcoming draft.

It's almost as if our goalie problems are a product of the system and development issues. When has this team last developed an elite goalie? The last capable one was Osgood, and he had many issues himself. With other teams, goalies seem to grow on trees. In Detroit, even when good ones are signed and traded for, they turn to s***. This franchise needs a review from top to bottom as far as development goes. Because GR is pretty s*** too. In Tampa, the AHL affiliate was a strength and pumped out winning, NHL-ready players to keep their depth going all the time. GR is just as much of a dumpster fire as Detroit.

This team still sucks so badly. Sell sell sell.

It's almost as if developing goalies is this team's problem. When Howard is the best you can come up with in the last 15 years, it's a problem. No prospects pan out. Goalies who had success and come here start off well and then regress quickly. We saw it with Ned, and now Husso looks very human as well. Perhaps we get some new personnel involved before giving up on a kid with the tools Cossa has. This team's drafting has improved. No dispute there.
-
This doesn't concern me. Yzerman is at the helm and not Holland. Bedard would be the dream, but adding a couple more Seider/Raymond-caliber guys would go a long way too. We simply do not have enough of that in the system.
-
Let's go full chaos with Larkin, Bert, Maatta, and Walman as our trade deadline ammo. Obviously, that goes for any pending UFA we have. But man, the more I think about it, the more I straight up just do not see enough high-end talent in this system to contend at any point. The pieces are there to be a really good team. But that is the ceiling IMO. Can you win a cup with Larkin? Damn straight. Can you win a cup with Larkin as your best? I don't see it. Kasper can grow into what Larkin is and fit the timeline much better. Things look good on the blueline. We have some good wingers too. Goalies I'm less concerned about. They move around every damn summer. But god damn the high-end depth up front, especially down the middle, just isn't there. Let's go full Bedard.

A sport dominated by wealthy white kids bigoted? Nooooooo.....

Cossa and Wallstedt both suck. The numbers don't lie.
-
Why trade for Bo Horvat when he could be had for free in the summer?

It's actually sad how hard you try to get a reaction out of me. But please go continue being a bigot on discord -

Do you mean that 2 whole inches of height difference? Anyways, not sure why you're trying to educate me on the hit. I didn't even disagree with you, to begin with. I just pointed out that because of head contact, I get why some folks don't like it. But hey, it's a league that pretends CTE isn't an issue. So what odds, right? -

I do not think the hit was malicious on Reeves's part whatsoever. But Hronek's head was a principal point of contact. Incidental? 100%, no doubt. But I can see why people don't like the hit. Hronek 100% has to be more aware as well. It could very well be a suspendable hit based on the contact to the head. But with how inconsistent the league is, who knows? I wouldn't be upset either way. If no punishment, it was just an unfortunate result. If he is suspended, rules are rules, accidents be damned. -
Yeah, damn that strength coach for not making Bert and Larkin's hands strong enough to block shots. Damn the strength coach for not letting Hronek continue to play after being kept out of the game in case of brain injury. Do you see how stupid you sound yet?

Preaching patience to the person who thinks he's gonna need 2-3 years of development before he sniffs the NHL? Makes sense.
-
Haven't you heard? He's gonna make the NHL roster THIS SEASON! Nevermind that he can't dominate the ECHL yet.

But how is that Panther's blueline looking?
