The guy scores 10-15 goals a season for the most part. If he is played on the 3rd line where he should be, he is a huge asset. When you have a team with elite talent, it is usually guys like Helm that become the difference makers. -

I'm in the same boat. Seems like he'll be a good fit. And the limited no trade after two years makes that contract movable if he starts to decline or if Larkin and AA surpass the hell out of him at center. And maybe we'll win shootouts now!! -

I'm fine with this contract. Helm is only 29. And the cap hit will in no way hurt the team. Glad he is sticking around. Does Miller make the team now that we have Helmer back and Neilson who can also kill penalties? Seems to me Miller should be the odd man out. -

I'd like the Neilson signing a lot more if it was 4 years for a little more money. It's 4 years from now that concerns me. The good thing about him is he is durable. So hoping no past injury issues means he can still be effective post 35. -

I've been saying all week he'd be cheap with a short term. Would have given us depth at center long enough for Larkin and AA to develop into legit top 6 centers themselves. Now in 3 years we're gonna have a 5.25 million player we do not need. At least Backes would have had value as a role player in the bottom 6 in a few years. -
