I didn't say he never made any good saves. I said he didn't come up with the big ones. Allen did, Howard did not. That's why this game is going to OT.

Story of this game: Allen comes up with the big saves. Howard does not. For the record, this is not me saying it was a soft goal.

Truth. He could be a great fit with Dats and Richards IF confidence was his issue. How was that icing?!

The team has been facing a lot of shots. We're gonna need to keep them both for the time being. If we only had one of them, they would have nothing left in the tank in the second half of the season.

The team has yet to play as good as they can (although they've been slowly improving), and still managed to hold on to 3rd in the division. Larkin does make this team better yes, but he also isn't our best player. Will he be in time? Very likely. But not yet. Also, no one player is gonna have a team go from playoffs to the basement. This isn't basketball. Don't get me wrong. I am all for Larkin being our next captain. But it is a roll he has to grow into and have the touch passed to him when the time is right. That time will come down the road.

Even if for some reason Hank were to no longer be captain beyond this season, it still wouldn't go to Larkin yet. By the time Hank retires it is very likely. But there are others who have a much bigger leadership role on the time at this point in time. Teams only make such a young player captain when they are a basement team and choose a certain player to build their team around. Like the situations with Toews and Crosby. The situation with the Wings is nothing like that. The team has loads of leadership and is still competitive. Making a 19 year old captain on this roster would be a dick move towards the leadership on the team. It will be different in a few years once Hank, Dats and Kronwall have all retired and guys like Larkin naturally become the new guard.

No surprise really. While Andy is highly unremarkable, he is a very responsible player. A solid but unremarkable 4th liner. Ideal for the role as an extra forward.

Where did this team come from?! Can we keep it?

See there is this thing called balance. The right blend of youth and veterans. You have the wise veterans in the lineup, and the kids who play with and learn from them day in and day out. Else you get the Edmonton Oilers.

Larkin. He belongs.

There is a very good chance I'll be in Ottawa for 4 months starting early January. I will definitely need a Wings fan to catch the Feb 20th game in Ottawa with! haha

If Larkin makes this team better, he'll stay regardless. They didn't keep him on the roster just because there was room for him. They kept him because they believe he is ready for the NHL now. If he excels, he keeps his roster spot. It's someone else that will be moved elsewhere IMO. If the intention isn't to give him a legit shot at sticking with the team full time, he'd be playing on the top line with GR tomorrow night. Only way he gets sent down is if he struggles. And I think it is fantastic. Comparing him to Jurco really isn't fair. Two very different situations. As for being bumped into the NHL over other guys, he is simply the most ready. Hockey isn't about tenure, it is about icing the best team you can. Every season a small few 18 and 19 year old kids break into the league. It is about time we have one that is good enough at that age. He already shown he can hang with NHL calibre talent. I see no reason why he can't learn his stuff with the Wings instead of GR. You save that for the kids who need to develop their game.
