I think he makes it. He may be a healthy scratch most nights at first, but Blash seems to really like him. Can't see guys like Andersson staying over Mitch. Gross. Plus there will no doubt be an injury or two by the time the season starts

I'm just so damn glad Franson and Semin will not be in Detroit. Relief.

signed Pulkkinen re-signs.... 1 year deal
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
If it only took Pulk and XO to land Buff, I'd be all over it. Anyone who wouldn't make that trade is crazy. -
Remaing RFAs to be signed - Jurco, Pulkkinen, Aubry

Definitely hope he eventually gets there. But he definitely has his work cut out for him to do so. -
The Wheel Deal @Bill_Roose 7m7 minutes ago Datsyuk's ankle surgery was to repair ruptured tendons from a blocked shot late in the #RedWings season. He returned from Russia last week. It's said he will be in a cast for 4-6 weeks.

While I have by no means turned on him, I think there is a decent chance his game does not translate to the NHL any time soon. I do think those hoping for 30 goals from him are expected wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. -

Starting to feel like Pulk is gonna need to break out like Nyquist did two seasons ago just to avoid getting torn apart on these forums. Over/under on how long it takes for fans to turn on him? I give it a month. -
The Richards signing makes this situation a lot less worrying. Still a very deep team up front without Dats. The team will remain competitive without him, will just be that much better when he returns.

Pretty much. Just have a percentage of home grown talents contracts not count VS the cap. It would reward teams that build through the draft, instead of having them get blown up like the Blackhawks have had to do twice now.
-
The only thing I'd change is having some kind of break towards the cap for home grown talent. Parity is nice and all, but it is kind of a bummer when teams who draft and developed well are punished because of the cap. The cap should prevent teams from buying championships. Not force them to lose homegrown talent.
-
It literally does not matter. Yeah, the team is close to the cap limit now, but also has too many players. Players need to be traded for roster spot reasons, which will automatically fix the cap issue anyway. If a small cap hit is added for Cleary to play in the AHL, it literally does nothing to affect the Wings in any way, whether it be cap hit or roster spots.

Keep Franson awayyyyyyyyy. #overrated

Johnny Oduya signs with Stars 2 yrs $3.75 AAV
marcaractac replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
As someone who gets upset every time Holland trades a prospect, why exactly do you think this would have been a good deal for the Wings? You realize it would mean trading away kids, right? -
signed Red Wings sign D Mike Green (3-years, $18-million)

We'll all be long dead before any team hits 50 numbers retired, let alone all of em. -
A player could get away with being slow back then. Now speed is more important than it has ever been.

Signed Gustav Nyquist signed 4-Year Deal $4.75 mill AAV
marcaractac replied to e_prime's topic in General
Except he wasn't on the open market. That's why there is RFA status to protect teams from losing their young players to silly contracts. -
Crosby getting his bell rung, Letang having a stroke, I can keep going. Factor all these out and they are no more injured than any other team. As for the mumps issue, that's all on team doctors. Not a strength and conditioning couch.

Oh look! Anaheim Ducks @AnaheimDucks 21m21 minutes ago OFFICIAL: #NHLDucks sign Brian McGrattan (@bigern10) to a one-year contract through 2015-16: http://bit.ly/McGrattan_071015 …

Exactly. Moves will only be made because of roster space, not cap hits. -

Signed Wings sign left wing Eric Tangradi
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
He was drafted by Anaheim in 2007, so definitely drafted for size haha -
Thank you for pointing that out! That would be depth down the middle
-
Of course he won't. I never said that, even. But a complementary piece in a package for one? Very possible if the right trade is out there.

I think detroit finishes second to Tampa in the division, 3rd or 4th over all. Top four will be Tampa, Detroit, Washington and rangers. In no particular order. Islanders, Montreal, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Florida, Ottawa will fight for the last four spots. Sabres and flyers won't be far behind.

Im nit saying we should give him away for nothing. I'm also not saying I think he will make a terrible nhler. I just don't think his ahl success will translate to the nhl. I can see him being a 20 goal player. 3rd liner who plays on the pp like others have said. I just think we have other players in the system who can attribute at least as much but can offer more in other areas of the game. It is obvious we have too many forwards in the system, and that someone has to go. I just think pulk will be the odd man out, and just maybe his value now is higher than it will be when we need to free up roster space. Which does not, imo, mean trade him right now for the sake of it. But rather if we need to make up a package to bring in a need, I think he is the most expendable. And once again, I hope he proves me to be very incorrect. Crow would make for a delicious feast. He is not some untouchable player like some make him sound. Nor is he garbage we need to get rid of. He is simply somewhere in the middle. If he adjusts to the nhl and pots 30 a year as a red wing, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong.
