    2015 Draft

Dmen take longer to hit their stride than forwards do. So unless you can draft a guy like Hamilton as one of the top picks, it is all about the waiting game. We may already have dmen that can become great. We just don't know yet.

    Datsyuk Has Ankle Surgery

Rehab when he gets the cast off, re-evaluated in 3 months. I guess it all comes down to how the healing comes along.

I accidentally copy and pasted the wrong tweet lol. And my luck, I happened to accidentally copy and paste a tween from a fake account that someone I follow retweeted. Glad I caught that one.

But how much value does Subban really have? He has nerves of glass. He has been completely underwhelming since being drafted. Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 45s45 seconds ago The Bruins retained close to half of Lucic's cap hit/salary in order to make trade work with the cap-strung Kings

Lucic to LA seems almost a done deal. Will give Boston picks 13, 14 and 15 if it goes through.

If Holland were to ask Boston about Hamilton, I'd bet money that the asking price would have started with Larkin.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 16s17 seconds ago There is still strong reason to believe BOS will trade Milan Lucic today. LA is the leading contender. #TSN Like already stated in this thread, no chance Hamilton would ever end up in a division rival. Zero reasons to get on Holland's case over this trade.

No doubt he did if it was known he was being shopped. But the cost would be far greater for a division rival, no doubt.

Right? They looked like geniuses when they landed those 2 1sts for Kessel. They should have stopped there. Guys like Lucic should have been traded. Not Boychuk, Seguin, or Hamilton. Word is Hamilton was seeking 5.5 million per year. If I were his GM, I'd simply ask how many years he wanted and get the deal done.

Right? Hamilton and Seguin were two guys they should have been building their team around. Now they have neither. While at times it does feel like Holland does play it a little too safe, it is comforting to know he'd never do stupid s*** like this.

Boston is on the verge of some tough times. I don't understand what they are doing at all. I get that they have to shed salary, but why Hamilton? I mean, good for us that Boston becomes a weaker team. But I guess firing their previous GM did nothing to change trading away their youth.

Yzerman wins GM of Year (& other awards discussion)

I don't consider signing the biggest ufa's almost every year, then trade them because it ends up a bad contract being a great gm at all. You throw enough s*** at the wall, eventually something is gonna stick. What they gave up for Yandle will also come back to bite them in the ass at some point.

Looking ahead to expansion draft ... If Vegas comes to the nhl etc

I personally think homegrown talent should be 100% safe regardless of age, then have a small number of players that can be protected for those brought in via trade or free agency.

It's been said the earliest we would possibly see expansion teams is for the 2017/18 season. If Pav stays beyond his current contract, hopefully he and Holland play the system and hold off on a new contract until after the expansion draft, so we can protect an extra player.

    OT Changes

Of course it does. Even in 3 on 3 hockey, they actually still play hockey. And while rare, 3 on 3 does happen in game situations. In a perfect world, players would never tire and we would never have to worry about working early the next morning and have continuous ot all season long. Ties don't fix the problem unless we keep the loser point. If there is no loser point, OT would be played safe so both teams can keep their point. That's boring. Shootouts as a last resort is not going to go away. 3 on 3 OT is the best way to ever prevent it from getting there.

Maybe we should hang on to Howard then

That's pretty much how I'd go about it. Definitely only protect Mrazek over protecting 2 goalies. By the time we would have to worry about this, Datsyuk will be retired (</3), and Quincey will likely be gone anyway. Which in that case protect Larkin and two of our most important not already protected dmen in 2 years time. On the roster right now, sure, protect Ericsson. In 2 years? Hell naw, unless he happens to prove otherwise.
