Exactly. I'm hoping both our goalies have a great year, so we can trade Howard in the offseason. Get a cheap, veteran back up next summer and yay cap space! Or even at the trade deadline if there is a non playoff team in need of a goalie with a player we could really use.

Even if he does regain that form, Mrazek isn't gonna sit on the bench for 60 games.

Then why was he sitting on the bench in the playoffs? Not saying he won't be the number 1, but that question is very much up in the air and there is a chance we might not even have a final answer until April when game 1 begins. In the end, I think Mrazek either runs away with it, or they both do well and split time. I just can't see the upcoming season happening with Howard being the clear number 1.

The best move would be to have a good chat with him the summer before the final year of his contract and see where his head is at. If he wants more than you can pay, start shopping him. As great as Stamkos is, the depth/picks/prospects the team could get for him would still keep that team realgud for a very long time. 10.5 mil eats up a lot of cap. Comes down to whether you want that 10.5 superstar, or a couple realgud players that give the team more depth. Either way, what to do with Stamkos is a pretty good problem for a team to have. Especially if part of a trade is agreeing on a long term deal to the team being traded to.

These playoffs are strange. The great teams have not so great goalies, where as the great goalies have not so great teams. With the exception of the Rangers.
