Things you would like to see for 2015-16 Season

Unrelated as f***, but I have a band on George Street currently rocking out tunes for the Wings. Don't stop believing, living on a prayer, sweet Carolina, the works. Easy to do when the band is Habs fans and hates the Babcock signing he even went silent and let me yell SOUTH DETROIT! Into the mic. Yes, I am hammered.

I know what you mean. I am very sad to see Babs go. Especially after his media thing today. But definitely no sour feelings. Thankful we got to have him around for a decade. Would love to see him come back in some capacity when he is done coaching.

The only 2 things that stand out is all his time on IR and most recently in the press box watching the Ducks playoff run.

Good coaches and good teams make each other better. If a coach had to have NHL experience to get a NHL coaching job, the league would run out of coaches. Your logic makes zero sense. The only thing I can figure at this point is that you are trolling.

So did Babcock's. Also, Eakins was thrown into the dumpster fire that has been the Edmonton Oilers. The problems with that team were far deeper than coaching.

Nobody is saying Blash is Bowman though lol. We are just saying that he is the best man for the job. Not because we think he will be one of the best coaches in the league right out of the gate, but because we believe he has all the tools to become a great coach. A lot of us think that is a much better option than going with some of the older guys out there. Having a coach grow with a young team can be a great think. Just look at Tampa right now.

That is the absolute bare bones of what hockey is, and how to win sure. But if people don't think coaches have a huge influence on making teams better, then I don't really know what to say to them. Take the best team in the NHL with no coach vs a basement team with a great coach in a 7 game series, and the best team on paper will struggle. In a game of inches, having a brilliant coach can absolutely be the difference between a winner and a pretender. The Wings had a great team in the early-mid 90's. Always fizzled out in the playoffs. In comes Scotty, the rest is history. Every ship needs a captain.

This comment reminds me of the people who say hockey is stupid because it is just people with sticks trying to put a piece of rubber in the net.

Good players still need a good coach to steer them all in the right direction.

Like Babs just said today. As a coach, you still need great players and great leadership to win. A great coach will have his team playing at their potential or above all year long. Blash to this point has done that.

There will likely be growing pains with a rookie NHL coach, no doubt. But Blash is the only right option. Any other coach available is a downgrade behind the bench right off the bat. Blash has all the tools to become a great coach in the NHL, and he knows he will have a lot to prove. I have no doubt he will be up for the challenge. Going with Blash is not at all a big risk, yet still has a potential very high reward. There is no point in going with a guy like Hitchcock, when he has a reputation for his players tuning him out after a couple years, all while losing Blash to another team in the process. Blash is a guy who has been working his way through the system along with the youth in the organization. To not go with him would be idiotic. To not go with him IMO would also mean we need a new GM.

Agreed. While I don't expect him to make the wings out of camp, i think there is a decent chance he earns his way up before the season ends

Never once said it was anything but a large cap hit. I've simply been saying that it isn't a contract that is gonna handicap a team. 5 mil for just 3 years is manageable for a lot of teams. Larkin gonna be paired with AA. Dat speed... http://www.mlive.com/griffins/index.ssf/2015/05/dylan_larkin_jumps_into_it_wit.html

Dylan Larkin turning pro... will play for GR immediately

Sabres, Flames, Devils, Panthers, Habs, Yotes, Flyers just off the top of my head. Before laughing at the Habs, keep in mind they are very weak down the middle and he could be a good stop gap for them while they develop someone internally. But plenty of teams that can use some veteran center depth. His contract isn't idea, but it isn't outrageous either. And what's to say Holland can't retain 1-1.5 million for a better return? It is only 3 years remaining after all. If the season starts with Weiss on the roster, injuries make teams desperate. Not to mention the fact that we can offload this contract and take on one another team does not want. There are always options! In the end I do think Weiss gets a shot under a new coach. I only see him moved if Holland needs the cap space to make a bigger move. I lol'd

That is why Vinny was brought up to begin with, because he wasn't traded lol. Holland will have no problem getting rid of Weiss if he feels the need. Not saying we'll get much of anything for him outside of a salary dump. But there will always be a suitor for a guy like Weiss. Plenty of teams out there that are weak down the middle. No shortage of young teams that can use a veteran to come in and help out. Always a couple teams needing to take on salary in the summer to get above the cap.

Weiss has what 3 years left? Too lazy to check. 5 mil cap hit. VERY movable. Vinny had a very long contract with a very high cap hit, and was playing nowhere near what he was making. Dipietro doesn't count because he lived on IR. Richards has been regressing for a couple years now, and that was a bad contract from day one. Weiss isn't some washed up has-been. He had bad luck with injuries at the start, and was unable to play his way into Babcock's system. Weiss would absolutely have value to some teams out there.
