It's lovely to see. Plus, plenty of good trade assets over the next few seasons now to keep that prospect pool stocked. Just look at Tampa, they always have another guy that seems to be able to come in and step up when they lose someone because of the cap. Yzerman is building that depth up in Detroit now.
-
I wouldn't worry about him looking taxed late in the season as it was his first pro season. He'll never score much, but seems poised to develop into a really good defensive dman who will be tough to play against.
-
This site being down draft week was pretty annoying. I lacked a place to laugh at Wright getting Zadina'd

Glendog that can put up 50+ points a season
-
disregard my post in the Hagg thread haha

You will likely get your wish, as Rogle's 1C is out indefinitely. A bigger role for Kasper is pretty well guaranteed.
-
You're trying to paint this picture as if I'm advocating for the guy. It's really weird. You said he wasn't re-signed because he was a drunk. I merely provide the perspective that his relapse could have come after the fact. Then you invent an argument over nothing. I guess discussing the nuance of addiction is too complicated for folks who only see things in black and white.
-
I'm not saying he is a drunk because he doesn't have hockey. I'm saying no longer having hockey, and suddenly having too much free time on his hands COULD BE a reason he RELAPSED. As in he was sober in hockey for a couple of years to end his career. You must be really bored today if this is the hill you need to die on.
-
So saying no longer having the structure of pro hockey is a possible cause of him relapsing is defending him? Okay.
-
Helm haters were always idiots.
-
I'm gonna guess that it's not being signed and out of hockey that has caused him to relapse.
-
This. I'm excited that he'll soon get to regularly work with pro-level coaching to round out his game.
-
Just had that "DK" is no longer a Red Wing realization and it just made my day. Also, Edvinsson will win that 2nd pair job on the left side in no time, and Maatta will be a sensible 3rd pair mainstay.
-
Pysyk is out 4-6 months after a repaired torn Achilles tendon. Yzerman maintained that depth for camp competition.
-
I probably should have added that we sign Klingberg if Hronek gets moved; as well as an 8-year extension being part of the deal I think any package that doesn't involve any core guys or Edvinsson or Kasper should be explored. They'll want a player to keep them competitive now (Bert or Vrana). They'll want a younger player with team control (Zadina or Hronek). They'll definitely want a 2023 1st. It would also likely require a prospect not named Edvinsson, Cossa, or Kasper. I'd pay that all day for Tkachuck's best 8 years. If they want all futures and it would take two firsts and a couple of good prospects not named Edvinsson, Cossa, or Kasper, I do that all day long too. I just don't think they wanna blow it up, as they seemed more primed for a reload than anything.

2023 1st, Vrana, Hronek, Berggren or Soderblom

The five team list that has been floating around has also been said to be completely false

To Calgary, hopefully

Johnny leaving doesn't hurt them as much as many would make you think I agree. But man Tkachuk wanting out too is just ouch. I'd package any asset outside of Seider, Raymond, Kasper, and Edvinsson to make it happen. Clearly, the 2023 1st would be involved. But outside of the exemptions, I'd package pretty much any 2 prospects we have on top of another pick to make it happen. An 8-year extension being part of the deal, of course.
-
All signs point to the Flames trading Tkachuk by the end of the week. What an awful offseason they are having. I hope Stevie is on the phone with them.
-
I agree there. Though he wasn't very good in Florida either. But hopefully, that was just not enough time to adjust and whatnot. I do see him as a fantastic pairing for Seider though. Assuming he plays with Seider like he did Weber in Montreal.
-
He is also awkward as f*** and has this weird, unearned arrogance about him. Like, McDavid has no personality either, but god damn that dude took his team on his back in the playoffs this year. I don't see any of that in Wright. He reeks of passenger. Wright will be the bust of the 2022 draft. Zadina all over again, except this time the role of Ken Holland was played by Ron Francis.
-
Not let's sign Mathews in 2 years and make the league bow to us once more.
-
My love for Savoie is based on his IQ, work ethic, skill, and speed. All the fundamentals are there along with the right attitude. The scoring in junior is just icing on the cake tbh. While Kasper doesn't have that same level of skill, he has the other tools in spades, along with more grit and size. It was always gonna be a win/win regardless of which Yzerman got.
-
Shane Wright is gonna be a bust. He was invisible at the WJC, and in his media interviews leading up to the draft he came off as a weirdo. Apparently, he bombed his team interviews too. The dude will never be the guy who elevates his game to win.
