Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
How is it obnoxious? He isn't the one who asked for this to be so public. He is the guy who came out and said he is moving the date up for his decision. Blame the media. Babs shouldn't have to rush to such a huge decision because a few people on the internet are sick of hearing about it. Edit: He could have easily let his contract expire and let the bidding war for him begin. But he didn't. He decided to get this taken care of in May. Before the draft. Realgud. -

Exactly. And the Toronto media is making a circus out of it because the Leafs are desperate to do something to get their fans back on board. -

TANK IT Exactly. I think Babcock is handling it all very well. The media is making a scene of it, but Babs isn't. He is a pro through and through. -

I was one of those who said it. And believe me, I like anyone else who has don't literally want to see the team lose lol. We aren't speaking literally -

You're taking things too seriously. Gotta read between the lines. The message isn't 'we hope babs leaves and the team s***s the bed'. It is 'people don't realize how good we have it, and likely wont until it is gone' TSN did the interview with Babs because of media being media. Nobody cares where Bylsma or Carlyle ends up. McClellan is all but Edmonton-bound. I'd also imagine this interview was all TSN's doing, and not Babs looking for attention. -

2 players isn't gonna win you a cup. Lidstrom retired. We lost Rafalski, we lost Stuart. A lot of the secondary scoring aged out, and youth has been filling positions since, and getting better every year. All under Babcock. I also bet you that Datsyuk and Hank would both say Babcock had a big part in their own development 10 years ago to become the players they did. Look at teams like the Blues. They should be winning cups with the roster they have. But they aren't. Look at the Pens. Crosby and Malkin can't do it alone there either. We have a young team learning how to win. That game 7 heartbreak was a huge lesson going forward. Babcock is a huge part of that. You bring up the Team Canada argument. Canada has ALWAYS had stacked rosters. But before the back to back gold, there has been a lot of disappointment. It is silly to talk as if any coach could have coached that team to a gold medal when more often than not the team didn't win gold in the past. Besides 2002 it has been a lot of olympic heartbreak for Canadians. Babs was chosen to coach those gold medal winning teams for a reason. -

Truth. The franchise is sitting in a very good position because of Holland and Babs. I just don't get the whole "needing a fresh face" when the roster has almost completely turned over in the last 3 years. It's not like it has been the same roster for 10 years. Also, after watching that TSN interview, it is sounding like he is leaning towards staying. Seems like he just wants to talk it over with family once he gets back from the World Championships. -

Dylan larkin #5 prospect out of top 50 on hockeysfuture
marcaractac replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Agreed. Also, his lack of scoring mainly comes down to the situations he plays in. He isn't put in many offensive situations. But is trusted to be responsible and get time on the PK. Which, considering the level of talent he is playing with and against, sure is impressive. -
Mantha will be fine. He had to work through a lot to come into pro hockey for the first time, both being a kid and having had a broken leg. Despite that he had a solid season. Because of the hype, expectations for him were far to high. He'll come into next season knowing what to expect and be ready to kick some ass.

WCF : (3) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

It's like that to maximize ratings across the country. The average joe will not stay up super late on a week night to watch hockey. Especially if it goes to OT. -

I don't think it was a bad hit at all. Even Boyle knew it was his own fault. But if he gets nothing after Kronwall's suspension, I will be pissed. Also considering Orpik has history, and Kronwall didn't. -

Orpik better be suspended. Not that I think it was that bad, but it was no different than Kronwall's. -

definitely useful, but likely won't be worth the money he will be paid considering his best years are behind him. -

Even besides the penalties, there are better (albiet more expensive) options out there. Like Phaneuf. Green would lead to a lot more frustrations for us fans. Dion would make this team that much better. -

Green won't be a Wing regardless come July 1. And I am glad for that. He will get a ridiculous contract elsewhere. -

Canada. The tax rates in Canada are pathetic. The tax brackets for higher wages are absolutely insane, hence why when I graduate with my engineering degree I wanna move down south. Sur every country has its problems, but I don't want to end up in a situation where I am paying out nearly half my salary in taxes. It's horses***. -
