Salty boy once again can't handle my difference of opinion so has to make up his silly little stories. Grow up you ******* man child. Thank you for having common sense. Scott lacks that.
-
Because he is a soft, one-dimensional winger who doesn't produce and has shown zero growth in his game.
-
Gange outscored Zadina while in the bottom 6 all season long, whereas Zadina got plenty of opportunity in the top 6 and did jack s*** with it. Sundqvist pretty much scores as much as Zadina does and can kill penalties. Stephens is a good 4th-line center. Don't get the hate there. Smith and Erne add the type of style a fourth line needs. Zadina is too scared to battle for a puck in the corners. Not to mention there are countless players in UFA every summer that can be had for cheap that can out-produce what Zadina has done this season. If he showed progression I'd be all for seeing him stick around. But he hasn't. Try ignoring his draft position for 5 minutes and maybe you too will realize he sucks.
-
We only need 9 better forwards to bump Zadina. He is not suited for fourth-line play. Let's be realistic here. Larkin Raymond Bertuzzi Vrana Suter Fabbri Veleno Sundqvist Rasmussen I'd also take Gagner, Enre, Smith, Stephens as fourth liners any day over Zadina. That is 9 guys who bring more to the table than Zadina. This doesn't even factor in prospects who make the team or scoring depth signed in UFA (no, it won't be Forsberg). Zadina has no place on this roster beyond this season. Even if Bert got traded this summer, I'd be ready to see him gone. Swap him for another young player who hasn't hit their potential and hope for the change of scenery thing or package him in a trade for a need. Let's offload this kid before he becomes the next Perlini.
-
Right? Congratulations. You scored 5 more points than Adam Erne.

Folks saying 'If Berggren was so good he'd be called up already" clearly haven't been paying attention. Management is not rushing this kid. They've made that clear on multiple occasions. They have been working with him to adjust to the NA game and become a more dynamic scorer so he can succeed at the NHL level. He's a second-round pick who has the potential to be an excellent depth scorer. That is more than what we can say about Zadina, who produces just as little in a top 6 role as he does on the fourth line.
-
The potential is there. Let's hope he hits that ceiling.
-
Berggren basically lost 2 straight years of development and showed continued improvement once he stayed healthy. Zadina kept playing and he scores just as little as he did when he entered the league. Who cares what he could do in the AHL. It's his lack of improvement in the NHL that sucks. Berggren has shown improvement in every league he has played in. Many of us think he will show that same progress at the NHL level. That is the difference.
-
Seeing a prospect capable of picking corners with his shot is nice to see. Too bad Zadina can't do that. Berggren has started off a little slow and has consistently gotten better and better as the season has gone along. And yes, he is scoring like this almost every night now.

If Soderblom is a regular fixture on the second line and occasionally moves up or down, what does that make him? The guy is either gonna be a capable scorer or not. That pretty much buys players a spot anywhere in the top 9 when you're a winger. As for spreading talent, there will be plenty to go around. If you haven't noticed, the depth on the wing in the system is pretty deep. My guess is you'll see one of Soderblom, Bert, and Ras on each of the top 3 lines due to their size and/or style of play. If you actually pay attention to what I say, you'd notice I said having balanced lines is what is most important.
-
Meyers to the Avs. Guess he doesn't want a shot at a big role in the NHL any time soon.
-
You shun those who say he can't be top 6, yet you clearly think he can potentially play on the second line as a middle 6 winger. That is top 6. You have failed. And you're on crack if you think he lacks the skills to be a top 6 forward. The kid has more skill than most of the current Wings roster. Also, he can play a similar role on the top line that Abby did and still have loads more speed and skill to far exceed anything Abby has done there. Hellberg's contract is for the remainder of this season according to Bultman. Seems to be GR help for the time being.

I had a good laugh during the broadcast last night where text showed below the onscreen scoreboard mentioning Zadina's career-high 9 goals this season. He sure has been filling those nets.
-
It's almost as if lines need to be balanced to be able to roll four lines and succeed at a high level haha. I never did understand the load all top talent on the top lines crowd. Makes it pretty easy for the opposition to defend against. Even the pp needs a guy with some grit to play net front and battle in the corners.
-
I do not think you understand what these terms mean.

All hail Savoie

Fabbri was given a 3-year deal to have a competent player around during the rebuild. If Yzerman saw him as a definite future part of this team, I'm guessing he'd have gotten a longer deal. Fabbri will be decent trade bait in a couple of years. I still think Bert gets moved at some point. I think Yzerman is waiting for the border bulls*** to end to maximize his value though. In the end, this news isn't new. Yzerman said from the start this was gonna take time. He is not gonna rush things because the team played .500 hockey for half a season against backup goalies. We were still hovering around Arizona and Montreal most of the season in ROW. Top 10 pick this year, top 10 pick next year, and I think we see things start to change in the 23/24 season. That's when I think we'll truly compete for a playoff spot and the bigger moves will follow. Going out and signing the likes of Forsberg is not gonna make this team a contender. It would make the team too good to improve and not good enough to win. Clearly, but try telling most of the fanbase that. Many think this team was Lindholm and Forsberg away from being contenders
-
Lots of Wings info on the latest 32 thoughts podcast. The belief is the Wings rebuild is gonna take longer than many think, as Yzerman is not done adding high-end draft picks. Will not take big UFA swings until then. Be prepared for more veteran UFA signings that can be flipped at the deadline.

Tell me how you've never watched Berggren play without saying you have never watched Berggren play.
-
You're still setting yourself up for disappointment
-
Yes, let's slap those expectations on Berggren now so everyone can turn on him as well.
-
And show an ounce of improvement over almost and entire season worth of hockey
-
Cossa was always gonna be a riskier pick than Wallstedt, but I think it was the right pick. Cossa has the higher ceiling, and that's what Yzerman clearly went for. Wallstedt will hit the NHL first and find success at that level first. I never thought otherwise. But assuming Cossa hits his ceiling, he'll be the better tendy. We will see a period where Wings fans moan and groan about the pick because of it, but then they will disappear off of the face of the earth once Cossa rounds into form at the NHL level. Thankfully we have the 'fire Blash' movement distracting them all right now. Wallstedt is really good, but I don't think he'll really get much better. He just 'got gud' really young.

His development has simply been becoming not a liability. That isn't good enough for a guy who is supposed to score. Going into this season I was on board with giving him one last chance before jumping on the bust bandwagon; which I feel was fair given his age. Zero improvements. Bust. He'll make a career for at least a few more seasons bouncing around from team to team with GMs hoping he can find some of that draft pedigree in him. He'd make a semi-valuable trade addition right now only due to his age in hopes a change of scenery works. But it won't. Veleno has shown growth over time. He is okay.

I think Paul Maurice would be a great fit tbh.
