Not once did I say they should hand it to him right now. But there is no reason his name shouldn't be mentioned when it comes time to vote. Of course they are gonna give it to Crosby, as the Hart trophy is nothing more than a complementary piece to the Art Ross these days.

Hell, the Islanders would have eliminated the Pens last year in the first round if not for Vokoun. They don't have him to fall back on this time. Islanders gave them fits with speed. So if the Wings face the Pens, set the Goose loose!

I know it is probably a pipe dream, but Goose should be in the talks for the Hart trophy. I know the award typically goes to the leagues highest scorer, but there is already an award for that. Has there been any other player more important to their team's success than Goose at this point? None I can think of. He is the only player in the entire league we can truly say "Without him, his team doesn't make the playoffs". If that isn't worthy of league MVP, nothing is.

Agree with this. D is not this teams strong point, but on experience alone our D is better than last year. But with guys like Dats and Hank in the lineup, the team defense improves greatly. It would take a great team defensive effort, but if there is any one team that can pull off some upsets this year, it is the Red Wings.

Exactly. I'd never expect him to become a dominant 2 way forward. But at some point you have to at least make an effort on the back check. That isn't a way of sacrificing offense or changing how he plays, it would be a case of simply giving 100% and giving a damn.

In the end, if it did come to an arbitrator, you'd have to think they'd side with the league considering the fan base of the team getting hosed would be absolutely losing their minds. Clearing cap space or not, such a lopsided trade will never be allowed to happen.

The league would definitely step in if a trade was lopsided enough. Even if there is nothing in the CBA about it, it would make the league look very bad and they would not allow it.

My entire Dad's side of the family are all either Wings or Bruins fans, dating back to my great Grandfather. No matter which team everyone likes, they always have a soft spot for the other, and it is no different for me. So I'd have to say my second fav is the Bruins.
