Picking up short-term s*** contracts for high draft picks. What is there to hate? Mrazek could just be waived and buried in GR. Lucic and Smith flanking the fourth line would at least make another rebuilding season a little more fun.

This just sounds like Zadina being a sooky baby for being on the fourth line tbh. I am 100% down for him getting s***-canned on April 30th. Firing him now I feel excuses the players. Send the message to the players that they have to dig themselves out of it. Don't want them thinking they can cry every time they disagree with their coaches and get them fired. Give them their fresh start next season.

There are many scenarios where I'd argue his number of games played might be too quick to give up. But progress has to be shown during that time. Zadina hasn't shown that.

This draft, much like 2020, has a lot of quality talent. I'd argue 50/50 is being pretty conservative when you're looking at possibly adding a guy like Savoie or Nazar. These guys are also not pipe-dreams that require a draft lottery win either. At least one of those guys is very likely to be on the board when Yzerman picks. This team is far more starved for a quality top 6 center in the system than anything else. LHD included. If Lindholm was acquired for the pick, that gaping hole is still there. And the .500 record the team would produce next season wouldn't get them any closer to it. I get wanting to add guys to improve the team based on the success of the first half. But this team is not there yet. Guys like Goligoski should be the target to help on the blueline next season. He would certainly be a huge improvement over Leddy, and a nice TDL piece as well. Philly is a team that loves trying to reload with good, but not great players because they are the best in the UFA class. Look where that has gotten them. Living in mediocrity. Not good enough to win, not bad enough to get better. Let's get that high-end center first!

Lindholm, Chychrun, Forsberg. One of these things is not like the others. You're worried about another Rasmussen. I want to see us get a Zegras or Rossi. The depth of this draft (especially at center) favors the latter. We can realistically end up with a guy like Savoie in this draft. I take that all day long over a 28-year-old Lindholm. This is not a team run by Ken Holland, after all.

I get that, but 2C is more of a role than a position, if that makes sense. Like yes, center is a position. You're either an elite center or you're not. Odds are if a guy is playing 2C, they are not elite. Guys like Malkin are the exception, of course. The only elite thing about Mantha is how inconsistent he is. We'd have won that trade if it were Mantha and Vrana 1-for-1.

Assets can be moved. But trading top 10 first-round draft picks during a rebuild is idiotic. That is something you straight up recommended. Learn how rebuilds work.

What even is an elite 2C? Hahaha. A player is either elite or not. Unless you're on a team behind McDavid or Crosby, an elite player isn't playing on anything but the first line. I think 'elite' is the most abused word in hockey fandom.

Haven't you heard? Jonas wanted to give up assets to trade for Lindholm first. Because that's what rebuilding teams do apparently. What is it like having someone live in your head rent-free?

I like Savoie the most in this draft, but I think he'll be gone by the time we pick. Therefore, team Nazar. Unless Savoie is on the board.
