In the end, Myers would be a HUGE risk. That isn't Holland's style, and I'm thankful for that. All these kids in the lineup we all love? We wouldn't have half of them if Holland made all the trades a lot of people here keep wanting. Sure the potential reward for landing Myers would be big. Far too big a risk to take. Ehrhoff is the safe option. He is the kind of player who would fit in with this team well. The guy can put up 50 points a season, and when paired with the right person, hold his own in the defensive side of things. 4 million per year is very reasonable for what he would bring to the table. Especially when pretty well half of the salary for his contract has already been paid to him. He'd be a steal for this team, and make our back end a lot better going forward.

A 4 million cap hit would be a nightmare? For a solid, proven dman? I'll tell you what contract is a nightmare. It's the 5.5 mil cap hit that follows Tyler Myers that is absolutely untradable. There will always be a bottom feeder willing to take a player like Erhoff to reach the cap floor if he were to not be effective 4 years down the road. Good luck getting someone to take on 5.5 mil for a 6'8 turnover machine

For those saying Erhoff isn't very good: Nobody would expect him to come here and be the teams savior. He isn't a guy who is gonna carry a team on his back, but he is a guy that can be an important piece if there are other good pieces in place. Rafalski is a good example. You're not gonna depends on him to be a shut down guy. But you put him with the right partner, and they make a deadly unit. I could see DeKeyser and Erhoff complement each other very well as a 2nd pairing.

Amen. Myers would be great at a small cap hit. But man did the Sabres jump the gun locking him up. Erhoff IMO can round out a very good top 4 for us. A top 4 that can be defensively responsible, and move the puck well. Also help the 2nd PP unit.

Exactly this. And his cap hit is WAY too high for someone that may never pan out to be a great player. Huge risk acquiring him. Erhoff would be a much safer pick up for this team. Maybe not the best option out there, but if a deal could be made for him and Stewart, I say go for it

The great thing about Mantha is that he knows his weaknesses and understand he has to learn and get better. Kids with his skill and his credentials usually aren't like that. The kid has the right attitude, and no chance the Wings rush him to the main roster. He will be with the big club when he is ready.

That's a bit generous on the height, but I get where you're coming from. Having Myers would be great. Not disputing it what so ever. But we'd still need to fit another vet in somewhere. And there is also no guarantee Myers ever comes back to what he was in his rookie season.

Erhoff IMO would be a better fit, as he is an established dman right now. Myers needs work. As someone has said, we have load of young dmen in the system. We need someone to help the team right now, not someone who will help the team a year or two from now. We already have plenty of young players for that. Not saying I'd be against Myers at all. I think our D as is 2 years from now would be quite fantastic. They are just young and inexperienced. Myers doesn't solve that problem. Erhoff would help.

Exactly. Plus, Miller is UFA at the end of the season isn't he? Not a big deal for the Blues, as if Miller walks they still have a very good goalie. We would have one with very limited NHL experience

I just mean beyond this season. They have too much cap committed to too few players. Them getting Kesler makes them a team with little to no depth. Can't win a cup when your bottom 6 has to be AHLers

I highly doubt it happens, so I'm not getting my hopes up. It would cost too much to land him. You know the Nucks would want a package revolving around Mantha, which will never happen. I think Edler is the more realistic deal with Vancouver.

LeBrun thinks that the Wings are in on Kesler. He is on TSN 1050 right now talking about the trade deadline. Wings are looking to add, but not rental players. Wants players that would be here beyond this season.
