People also need to realize that the Wings aren't loaded with offensive threats like they have been in the past. Dats and Hank are the only consistent point producers left really. So teams have an easier time putting their best defensive players against them. Especially when they play together. That will lead to turnovers. Having said that, if guys like Goose can build off of games like tonight, than maybe the team can string a few wins together to stay in the top 7. Finishing 8th wouldn't not be so much a time.

DeKeyser got better as the game went along. Hope he gets to stay in the lineup.

I can definitely respect that opinion. I do think that Calgarys drop out of the playoff picture has more to do with their aging core at the time, however. Even though they were making the playoffs before j-bo, they were on the decline. They relied on Iggy and Kipper for a few years too long I think. And they had no kids to bring up what so ever.

He is a whole 3 years older. And to say he is not as good is opinion. Big contract? sure. But it is one full season. One of 3 things would happen. He would either step up his game enough to earn that salary (win for the wings). Resign for a lower cap hit next time around (win for the wings). Or decide to go elsewhere. (lose for the wings, but not the end of the world). We wouldnt have to give up the farm to get him. With Yandle you could say good bye to roster players, and not our dead weight either.

All i get form those links is that we'd have to send equal salary/roster players back their way. J-Bo can be had for picks and prospects. Not to mention the 3rd link is from 6 games into the season and says the price for yandle would be too high.

Totally agree. J-bo seems like it would be a very low maintinance move, in terms of fitting in with the team. Where as Yandle might provide a little more scoring, but also a lot of cursing due to bad pinches.

Calgary is in sell mode. Kind of obvious j-bo is gonna be part of that. I don't go by what rumor sites say. Almost any player can be traded if the price is right. And Yandle would prbably cost a lot more than j-bo in a trade.

as far as scoring, they are both about the same this season, with J-Bo being on a terrible team. J-bo has also been a lot more physical this season than in the past. And he can play on the PK. J-bo certainly is not a plug.

This. And I also think that we haven't seen his best hockey yet. I think he would be rejuvinated playing on a playoff team.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against Yandle. I just think J-Bo is a better option. I also take these rumor sites with a grain of salt. Due to what is left on their contracts alone, Yandle should cost a lot more in a trade.

I really do think J-bo's game will go to a new level once he is out of Calgary. He has been rotting away there, never making the playoffs. With Yandle, what you see is what you get. And he is known for making mistakes. We have enough of that on our defense IMO.

Another thing I don't get, is that why would the Yotes even move him? He is locked up for 3 years beyond this season. If he gets moved, I figure it would make more sense in the summer, if at all, when they have a better idea of what will happen with the team. I just don't picture Yandle being moved. Calgary is finally entering rebuild mode, and j-bo will be moved.

And thats just it. This team could use more size. They get injured enough as it is. The bigger they get, the healthier they get. J-Bo has also been an ironman. If there is something this team can use, it's someone who is not gonna be on IR regularly.

Yandle, IMO is exactly what the team doesn't need. A one dimensional dman who is not very good in his own zone. J-Bo can play well at both ends of the ice, and has stepped up his game this year. I think he would be a great fit with the Wings. And his cap hit is just for one season. Everyone acts as if it is a cap hit the team would be stuck with forever. I don't get it. He has size, can QB a powerplay, can move the puck well, and play well in his own zone. I don't understand how Yandle at just 1.8 mil less can be seen as a much better option. Yandle isn't even the best dman on his team.

We definitely need defense. It would not hurt to land a legit top pairing dman. If this team is gonna make a playoff run, it starts with bulking up defense. They have plenty of assests to land a dman and a top 6 winger. I think J-Bo would be a fantastic adition to this team. Especially if they can trade for him now, then sign him to an extension over the summer.
