That is true, but at least it is a market that can afford to pay that salary I guess. Imagine if a team like Phoenix ran into that problem with that cap hit :S

If his back ever forced him out of the game would they be able to just put him on LTIR?

So, I woke up this morning and my stomach was aching and in knots. I then got to class and got sick. Now I am home in bed for the day. No idea if it has anything to do with how much of a nervous wreck I was last night, or if it's just pure coincidence, but my god I better be feeling good for game 7 tomorrow night! I'd be willing to suffer this out every damn day if it means a cup win in the end GO WINGS!!

I will never ever doubt this teams heart EVER AGAIN

It was near the end when the Sharks had their goalie pulled. They made an attempt to clear the puck, but it was kept in at the point, and Hank dove and forced the puck out of the zone with his stick. Had he missed, The sharks player would have had all the time in the world to set up a play or a shot from the point. Potential game saver that dive was. Vintage clutch defense by Hank.

True that. If they can pull of the big win tomorrow, then oh my god. Ride that momentum on home ice and anything could happen. BELIEVE!!

Franzen. He is the prime example in my opinion of what is wrong with this team now days. 2008 he was a machine. But you know what? The first 3/4 of that season he was a checking line player who worked his ass off. When he got 1st line time, he exploded offensively ad had an amazing post season. Since then, he has become a scorer, and that has totally changed his work ethic. All season long he has been floating around on the ice. People can say "as long as he shows up for the playoffs" all they want. I don't buy it. The guy was a workhorse before he became what he is now, and that is the Mule this team needs. He could have been a 40 goal scorer this season, but he decided to take the last couple months of the season off. I don't recall the Red Wings of the late 90's doing that... I say try and package Franzen for a true power forward, who will do what ever it takes to win, ALL YEAR LONG. Bring in a couple nasty bastard for the bottom 6, tweak the defense to make it bigger and meaner, and we have a team that can do some damage again. We need a few nasty players who can wake this team back up when they play like they are half asleep. The talent and depth is there, it's the heart that isn't. This team needs a Mule again, and I really don't think #93 is living up to that name anymore... This team doesn't need big changes. It either needs a bunch of smaller one, or just one big one to shake things up.

Well during the regular season Vancouver was by far the more penalized team during the season of the two (by over 200 PIMs according to a comment I've read about this on TSN), so my guess is they need to suck it up and and try and cut down on infractions. Both teams have gotten away with a lot, the refs missed a lot of calls on both sides in this series. The Canucks GM can cry all he wants, but if his team showed up for game 4 and/or 5 they wouldn't be in this situation. They need to take care of what they have control over and not worry about the officiating. Hopefully for his sake the refs don't decide to be even more hard on the Canucks now out of spite.

For the sake of the banner raising ceremony that is the case, but the teams staff still get their turns with the cup well into the season. November of 2009 one of the Penguins scouts brought the cup to St. John's and I went to see it. I guess they return the cup when everybody has had their turn, but the whole start of the season thing definitely seems to be just for the ceremony.

it's 1:40 for me right now.... lol

Datsyuk & Holmstrom more than likely won't play this weekend
marcaractac replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I wouldn't really say they are slow healers, there just isn't any need to rush them back with where the team is in the standings. I'm sure if Dats, Homer, and Cleary were on a different team they'd have been playing as soon as they can, but with this team they have the leisure of making sure they are, for the most part, 100% and ready to go. -
Well I dont mean any of our top roster players. Obviously guys like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, etc are untouchable. But when it comes to draft picks and prospects, which the exception of maybe a couple of them, to land a guy like Shea Weber to take over as number one when Lids retires is pretty much an opportunity that shouldn't be passed up. I highly doubt the Preds would part with him anyway unless it was an offer they could not refuse, but to see him in the Winged wheel would just be amazing.
-
If this guy was available I say give up what ever it takes to get him. It would soften the blow of Lids retiring like no other roster move could.

Lidstrom +8

I've met a bunch of former Montreal Canadiens a few years back. They were doing this thing going from town to town playing a local hockey team. That was alright. A couple summers ago I've met Michael Ryder, Joe Thornton, Adam Pardy, Teddy Purcell. And to save the best for last, I met Danny Cleary when he brought the Cup back to his hometown back in 2008. That was awesome.

Lidstrom has been named one of the two Captains
