So much for back tightness!!! Jesus I can't wait till preseason starts!!! XD

Wow Lids and Pyett are gonna own on the PP together
-
Yeah. After watching that game, if there is one thing Larsson probably needs to work on its closing his 5 hole quicker. Other than that he looked really good in the tournament.
-
Torquato scores, 1-0 Wings!! Atlanta scores on quite the fluky bounce... 1-1 ...and now Atlanta has a 2-1 lead. Emmerton ties it up!!!!!!!!!!!! Abdelkader scored but it was waived off. Would probably have counted if there was video review in this. Shootout time! Lol. Axelson tried the Forsberg/Zetterberg move. Failed. Atlanta wins shootout. Detroit plays Minnesota tomorrow at 8PM EST for 3rd place.
-
I automatically get NHL Network in a sports package with Bell. Abdelkader continues to be awesome. Emmerton looks real good. Kindl and Pyett are great on the PP together.
-
Woot! Game on!!
-
Hossa will lead in goals, Dats will lead in assists, and Hank will have lots of both. I also think we will crack 300 goals this season as well. We have too much talent not to really.
-
The thing is, we can sacrafice SOME depth to keep Hossa around. Players like Hudler and Sammy are expendable ifi it comes down to keeping Hossa. We do have players like Emmerton, Helm, and Abdelkader who will probably be fighting for roster spots after this season. If we can plug them in at league minimum, lose Hudler, Sammy, McCarty, Downey, assuming the cap goes up enough, it COULD work out. All depends how much of a cut Zetterberg and Mule are willing to take as well. It would only be one season to REALLY worry about anyway, assuming Lids retires after his contract is up. Even if he stays, at that point in his career I'm sure he would take a pay cut to see such a beast team stay together. But we will have to wait and see!!

I 100% agree with you. I've said the same thing in another thread and had a couple people jumping on my opinion as well. Obviously it's gonna come down to performances at training camp and preseason, but Lilja was only ever resigned incase Stuart left. Holland said that himself before July 1st.
-
Thing is, at the time Lilja was singed incase Stuart walked. I think Quincey is ready to take his role, and I also thing Meech is better than Lebda. When Lids, Raffi, and Kronwall were all injured at once, Meech was a beast for us. He has talent, even more so than Lilja, Lebda, and Quincey. My money is on Lillja and/or Lebda getting traded. Holland didn't tell Quincey to practice fighting for nothing.
-
Florida would get so much more for Bouwmeester if they waited until the trade deadline. I'd say the ONLY reason his name is being thrown around is because he is only on a one year deal and seems to show lack of interest in staying in Florida. No GM in the league could be stupid enough to make that trade straight up.... at least I'd hope so.
-
He'll be on the 3rd pairing until Lids Retires, then I would imagine Kronwall will move up with Rafalski and Ericsson will play with Stuart.
-
Lilja was only ever signed as an insurance policy. Holland even said that. Everyone is gonna be signed, and battle at camp. My guess, judging on how Lilja has played last year, is that he may be the odd man out after camp. Lebda is a possibility as well. There is a damn good chance Quincey will impress enough to stick around. He has the potential, and I think he will do so. You really think they'd keep Lilja around if Quincey outperforms him at camp? Along with Meech? Not a chance. They'll need to clear space, and Lilja is the most logical choice. Chelios will be back, no question there. He is too good of a mentor for our young defense, and he played fine last season until he got injured. I never said they would trade Samuelsson, I said it could be a possibility if Helm continues to greatly improve upon what he has done since his last call up. Chances are he will play in Grand Rapids, but if he is impressive enough at camp, he'll be sticking around. Same goes with Ericsson. Lilja wasn't a HUGE factor in our cup win by any means. He's been scratched in the playoffs as well for playing poorly. Sure he was solid for us in the finals, but there is no need to pretend he was an oh so important piece of the puzzle. Now I'm not a Lilja hater like many here. I actually like the guy. But I'd rather see players like Meech, Quincey, and even Lebda take over the 3rd pairing, with Chelios playing games here and there as well to mentor them. I like Samuelsson as well. I agree with him being helpful in the cup run. But if Helm or any of the other kids in the system can prove they belong, IMO, Sammy would probably be the most expendable forward seeing how we signed Hossa and all. But I doubt he will be going anywhere, I just implied it as a possibility. And as for you saying Helm, our young defensemen, and Chelios are worse then Lilja and Samuelsson, why don't you get real.
-
Quincey, Chelios, and either Downey OR McCarty will be signed. I think somebody is gonna be traded. Lilja is my guess, and possibly Samuelsson as well, assuming Helm continues right where he left off.
-
Flip is the priority. But no worries, at least one of if not both will be signed. That is for certain. Holland said so himself. Plus, I'm sure Downey is busy this summer showing Quincey the ropes of kicking peoples ass

OBSTRUCTION!!
-
All I want to know, is why the hell did DiPietro sign that 15 year contract with them? What is it about that organization that made him think "Hey, I want to spend my entire career here!". It makes no sense. Not only could he find great success elsewhere, but he could have made more money throughout his career elsewhere to with his talent.
-
Toews will be the closest thing to the next Yzerman. Good move by the Hawks to make him Captain.
-
Yeah, too bad they traded their best Dman. they have a real good crop of forwards, but unless they can pull out some solid defense, they won't get very far. They'll do good enough to make the playoffs though.
-
We won't see ZDH/LR as a regular line. Not a chance. But I do say they'd get thrown on the ice in a situation where we are down a goal and need to generate something, whether it be a goal or momentum.

Dude.... Capslock....

Toews for sure. There will never be another true Yzerman, but Toews will be the next best thing. Unlike Stamkos and Turris (who are also gonna be greats someday) Toews will become a captain at a very young age. Even though he is a Blackhawk he is quickly becoming one of my favorites. His two way game will come in time. Even Yzerman wasn't a two way forward early in his career. Either way, in a few years I'd imagine Toews will become one of the best leaders in hockey.
