A new arena now would only help for the short term. Also, if they did build a new arena, I bet anything that it would seat less than the Joe. Definitely not more. The new arenas make too much money off of the press boxes these days. Every new arena in the league is loaded with them, at the expense of a good chunk of chairs...

Heh, I bet team Canada is some glad the Wings are still in the playoffs right now. I'm thankful to, because now I'm not torn between my home country and the team that best represents the almighty Wings. Of course I am even more thankful that the Wings have a real good sot at the cup this year

Yeah, getting their top defensive pairing back for the next game would be crazy!! I never thought Timonen would be back. If Philly can steal one in Pittsburgh, there can very well be a game 7.... not that I see it happening, but it would be pretty awesome. I love how Philly played tonight. CBC FTW!!!! I'm pretty sure all games are 8PM EST during the Stanley Cup Finals. They are definitely all evening games, I know that much. It would judt flat out be too retarded to see someone win the cup in an afternoon game. It will probably never happen.

All I can say is I'm glad the Wings won't be going into the game tomorrow night with the frame of mind many of their fans have. If they go into that game tomorrow thinking this series is over, then they'll be in for a long night. The fourth is always hardest to win, especially on the road. I'm nopt saying Dallas has much of a chance at winning the series now, I'm just saying that they aren't just gonna roll over and die like the Av's did either. The Wings need to play this game as if it is a game 7, then rest up for the finals. Nothing is over until that 4th game is won.

I totally agree. Almost every time he talks about the Wings he has nothing but good things to say about them. It's like, for every 10 things about the Wings he says, 9 of them are complements, but everyone seems so keen on judging him by the one bad one, which he for the most part he has a good point. He is constanlty praising our ability to put the puck in the net, and he loves players like Cleary and Homer. He even says Homer is better then Smyth, and Smyth is Canadian.

Nah he was just talking about Mules in general. He was not referring to Franzen at that point. Plus, he has praised the Wings far more as of late than criticize. The only thing I've seen him say that was negative was about the Joe being quiet in game one (which it sure as hell came off as on TV anyway), but he couldn't even hear himself talk when he was actually there for game two doing his CBC coverage. Everyone just took that whole redneck thing the wrong way.

Not a chance in hell. Not only do we have the defence to be able to shut down their top two lines, but we have a roster full of two way forwards (including two selke nominees) to help out with that as well. I may sound cocky, but their isn't a team in the league as complete as ours. And at our best, we can beat anyone in a 7 game series, whether it be Anaheim, San Jose, or the Penguins. Bring it on!!!!!

Yeah that sure stops the Pens from selling out as soon as the tickets go on sale. I agree with the economy problems. That is definitely an issue. I'm not denying that. But Don does have some good points. Of course the fans in Detroit want to see some rough and tough hockey. Winning the cup sure is great. But whats a cup if the hockey the entire season isn't as exciting as it can be?! Please explain to me why the Joe is always quiet game in and game out because it's all "class people who can afford tickets" who are the only ones who can afford to go, but yet they all go ape s*** when ever a big hit happens or a fight breaks out. Don Cherry knows what he is saying, whether he is pro canadian or not. I love the Wings, and I njoy watchinf Dats and Z make opponents look like ass, but at the same time I'd LOVE to see more tha one person on our team (Kronwall) lay out big hits, and to see more than 10 fights in an entire season. Is that too much as a fan to ask? Hell no it ain't. And getting a couple of these players on the 3rd or 4th line won't kill, or drafting a couple big scrappy players with an offensive upside won't kill either. And no, I have never been to a Wings game yet. But before anyone ridicules me about that, here this. I live in a s*** hole town that costs an arm and a leg just to get out of, and I am saving money like a mad man just to fly out and see a couple playoff games next year (I cant wait!! ). I am the most die hard Wings fan in the entire province I live in, I have no doubt about that. But Don Cherry has a couple good points. Is he biassed towards canadian players? yes, but he is always willing to give the credit to euro players when it is due. It was not long ago he was praising Homer about standing in front of the net and the entire Wings team for being able to put the puck in the net. But i'll admit, outside of some of the highlight goals our team score, we aren't the most exciting team in the world to watch anymore. It is a small price to pay for being a team to challenge for the cup year in and year out. But is it really to much to ask for our team to go after a couple Carcillo type guys who can fight and put the puck in the net? Is it too much to ask for our team to get a responsibly defensive player who loves to flatten people and get the fans rilled up? Hell no. If nothing changes, I won't complain. I love seeing us have the best team in the league and challenge for the cup every year. But to dis people about their opinions on the lack of physicality on our team isn't right in my opinion. Last year we were the least enforced team in the NHL. This year it is the Habs. Of course, we signed Downey, who was a Hab the year before that, which was the only reason why that stat has changed. But I bet all of you, if management drafted a couple players of the McCarty or Lucic caliber, the Joe would be rockin' like it is 1997 all over again on a regular basis!! Oh my god... We'd own the Pens. We got two defence pairs then can work wonders shutting down their top two lines, with a 3rd pair that won't lay over and die for them either. Not to mention the amounts of two way forwrads we have on this team. Eithger way, if we play the Pens, they won't know what hit them. As long as we reach the finals, the cup is ours. That is common sense. Just look how frustrated the Pens got in game 4 VS the Rags.... We'd have them frustrated like that pretty well every game. They can't do jack s***e against us.... Wings in 5 if they get past the Stars.... 2 wins at home, the split n Pittsburgh. then the cup win at home in game 5.

I've tried it twice, and got Wings vs Sens both times, with each winning the cup once.

I say Huet will stay where he is to. Washington wll push hard to keep him. And who wouldn't want to play for an upcomign team like that? I think they are gonna be dangerous next year now with good coaching from the get go and with the experienced they've gained in the playoffs.

During the first two rounds, Duthie was the only one picking Detroit to go the distance, saying unlike the rest of them, he wasn't gonna change his prediction from the start of the season, but yet now he is going against us. Talk about jumping on the Stars bandwagon..... It's dumb though. All that very panel has done was praise Turrco and all along made it sound like the Wings were doomed. Now they are on our sid.
