I say worry about D and C in the draft. Take care of any holes on wing ( if any when the time comes) through UFA/trades. Much cheaper to get wingers than it is to get dmen and centers.

The league won't do anything. Seider doesn't charge, Seider doesn't head hunt. He plants his feet and dishes out clean hits that don't out guys in hospital beds. Either that or he puts a guy on the ice who tries to hit him. Very clean hitter. He doesn't skate the length of the ice to take guys out.

This is basically my list, except in the opposite order. And of course, Cossa in the 20s! #f***wallstedt

Goaltending is obvious our biggest weakness, but also the easiest problem to solve in UFA. Cossa fixes that problem. Center depth is next in line, followed by LHD. We have a couple more drafts to address those needs and the pieces are all there. From there, there is no issue that cannot be solved via UFA or trade once the team is competitive again.

Also keep in mind teams go into camp with a larger roster than allowed some start of the season for various reasons. Competition for jobs, try outs, and simply to be prepared for the inevitable preseason injury. The worst thing that can happen is that a young player still capable of being sent down would get sent down until there is an injury. Though if said young player is good enough, someone else would just get waived. And it would not be a young player (unless it's Svech).

Someone will be out to start. There is always at least one, if not more. For every team. To hit game one fully healthy is the exception, not the rule.

Oh come on now. Name one time we had zero injuries going into the season after training camp and preseason. It literally never happens.

A lot of talent is gonna either fall or go unnoticed in this draft. No way I give up two 3rds to get rid of one year of Dekeyser. He will be a totally serviceable dman for one season.

Also do not forget the grin Staal made when he was asked about playing with Seider. It was clear right there Yzerman had that discussion with him about what he saw as a role for him next season. For that reason alone I say make an offer to Eric instead of Gagner, as we don't need both. I'm not worried about Bernie at all. That dude straight up wants to be here. He didn't give the usual polite run of the mill answers players give when asked if they might stay. Dude straight up gave reasoning of why he wants to stick around. His family loves it there, and the whole thing where he has regrets leaving Toronto and not seeing their rebuild through and not wanting to make that mistake again. Dude seems loyal.

Svech will be exposed I think, and he won't be taken. I just don't see any value there with him. He doesn't score enough to be a useful scorer, and he doesn't offer anything else. Time for people to realize he is a bust and won't be a part of the team's future. At best I think he gets qualified and waived for GR. Won't be shocked if Yzerman just lets him walk along with Brome and Djoos. Dekeyser will get to finish out his contract. I think Yzerman protects Hronek, Cholo and Stecher. Though I'd protect Hronek, Cholo and Lindstrom without hesitation. Let Seattle take Stecher. I'd rather keep Cholo, Lindstrom, and Smith. I'd like to see disney.com, Bernie, and Staal re-signed. Then either go after brother Eric or keep Gagner. I'm gonna predict that Raymond makes the roster. If he can be good enough to produce in the preseason, I think he earns a shot after the offense starved season we just had.

Cholo, Lindstrom, or Smith will not be in GR next season. One of them will go to Seattle though. I also think Veleno is done with GR.
