I'd imagine they are waiting on Pietrangelo's decision
-
So glad Holtby is off the market
-
True, it may take a few days to all shake out. I'm not sure if they have that negotiating window like they had the last few years due to the tight timeline.
-
That's the thing. Guys like Pietrangelo will go somewhere. If he agrees to go to somewhere like Vegas, they will suddenly be far more desperate to dump Fleury, likely far more willing to give up a first to do so. There are some big names out there, and not many teams can afford to take on any of them without dumping contracts.
-
Tomorrow will be wild
-
Exactly, and at that point we can retain half his salary to up his value.
-
I'd honestly take two seconds for Fleury at this point. If they refuse to give up a first, take the two seconds. We need another goalie and we can afford that cap hit for two seasons. Unlike other cap dumps, Fleury has plenty of value to offer.

Yeah, heaven forbid they get one of their best prospects playing meaningful games wherever they can during a pandemic. Damn them...

Good call. I haaaaated that '3D' Sens logo -
Which only proves my point

Defense should look more like this: Dekeyser - Hronek Staal - Seider Nemeth - Lindstrom Biega Because we're not the Edmonton Oilers and we don't f*** up players development by throwing them to the sharks too soon.
-
Yeah, Hronek wouldn't make a cup winning roster over a kid who has never seen an NHL game at all
-
We'll get the final round all to ourselves and draft the rest of Frölunda
-
Yeah, the Marner comparison is good because they both also realize the game is still going on when you're not in the offensive zone. Wouldn;t be surprised to see the kid play on the PK when he is comfortable at the NHL level. Short-handed threat.
-
Everyone values these players differently dude. Especially beyond the first round. Each teams list I can guarantee you varies by a LOT. Having the higher pick means nothing when the player you want will still be there in five picks. Or maybe you have a group of players deemed equal, and by process of elimination, at least one will still be there. I'd agree with you 100% if we were talking about a top 10 overall pick here, but we're talking about 2nd and third rounders. Some GMs will get it right. Most will be very wrong. Only time will tell.
-
He didn't reduce the probability of success if he got the players he wanted anyway. He simply added a couple extra picks to have a couple later cracks at the can.
-
I mean, clearly the players Yzerman wanted at the picks he traded were either gone or would still be there for the higher of the two picks he got in return. Obviously when trading someone like AA you take the highest picks you can get. But at the draft table, s*** happens. If the guy you want projects to still be there in five picks, why not trade and add another later pick?

I'm still hoping for Daws

#65 to MInny for #70 and #132

They are prepared for life-post Kopitar If you get hopes up for certain players beyond the first round, you're gonna end up disappointed 99% of the time.
-
His scouting report reads like AA. Hopefully he overcomes his shortcomings and becomes what we hoped AA would be.
