    2020 Playoffs LOL

Yeah, I was baffled when Anaheim made that deal with Vegas. The impact these young skilled dmen are having on the game is wild. Imagine a dman of that calibre paired with Seider...

    2020 Playoffs LOL

Following, but not watching. It's a bummer without fans Tampa The three young dmen: Makar, Hughes, Heiskanen. We need to get ourselves one of those. *cough* Drysdale *cough* No. The teams that had no business there were all dispatched by the end of round 1. It's almost as if they didn't belong.

    Basically, let's draft Drysdale.

Ahh yes, the Leafs have a 23 year old potantial career AHLer on their hands, so that automatically seals Ras' fate. That's some classic nyqvististhefuture logic right there.

Ras was tearing it up in the AHL last season until he got hurt. I have no concerns about him.

    2020 Offseason

To be addressed in UFA is my guess. Plenty of options out there. Also plenty of good, young goalies seem to be on the market as well, if Stevie is looking for more of a long term solution. Maybe so, but none of them have ever worked out. Now they have someone a little more proven. Stop killing my hopes and dreams

Because without a reliable backup, they've had to run Price into the ground. This lets him sit 30 games a season and be playoff fresh.

I just hope he can find more Kucherov's and Point's in the 2nd and third rounds of the draft.

Dunn would be a great get. Just don't see why the Blues would ever consider shopping him unless he straight up wants out.

Just because I mention the contract not being debilitating, it does not mean I said that you said it. Nobody is changing your narrative here. Nobody is misrepresenting you. People just disagree with you. And who is suggesting you're saying the sky is falling? GMs make low risk moves with hope of high reward all the time. I'm simply pointing out that the narrative you're putting out there simply does not make this contract an overpayment.

    2020 Offseason

Yes, one healthy season is not a trend. But a healthy season he had, and clearly the hope is that it becomes a trend. Injuries should absolutely have a big impact if there is significant term or salary being thrown around. But neither is the case here. The scenario is low-risk enough to give the guy a bridge deal based on his time as a Red Wing. If he was asking for a long term deal? Sure, put on the brakes. But for this? Nahh man.

    2020 Offseason

Franzen and Weiss are no more comparable to Fabbri than Helm or Kronwall. But i'll bite. Remember Malkin? Turns out, players absolutely can recover from major knee injuries and still be the player they were before hand. It was a low risk move bringing him here to begin with. He stayed healthy and produced. He earned a bridge deal to see if he can keep it up.

    2020 Offseason

The part you're ignoring was that it was his most recent season. Maybe the injuries are behind him now. Remember Helm and Kronwall in their younger years?

You're clearly not a fan of Fabbri and are trying to justify the contract being a bad one. You keep going on about his injury history when he just had a healthy season. Your reaction is as if his agent took Yzerman to the cleaners on a long term deal. He is on a bridge deal at a fair salary for his production as an RFA. He has two more years to show he can stay healthy and improve upon the season he just had. Win win.

    2020 Offseason

He is literally getting paid, on average, what most comparable players at his production is getting paid. He has two years to show he can keep it up or improve. The part I find truly baffling is how one can think this contract will have any impact what so ever with Bert and Mantha. They are in a completely different situation.

I am shocked that it is you who is one of two people who thinks this is overpayment. Shocked, I tell you.

    Robby Fabbri Extended

I'm assuming you mean 1 million per 10 points on the UFA market here. Fabbri was on pace for ~50. Based on his consistency, over a full season, he'd have likely gotten there. At worst he'd have gotten close. Therefore, based on a 2.9 million per season salary, he is paid less than a UFA who produces similarly. Based on the '1 million per 10 points rule'. He came to Detroit, was a consistent point producer, was on pace for a career year at a young age, and stayed healthy. He earned this bridge deal. The money is fair. The term is safe. This contract will have zero impact on Mantha and Bert. Their next contracts actually will take them into their UFA years. They had their bridge deals. It's a completely different negotiation for the two. Helm and Glenny are gonna be our main trade deadline pieces next season. I honestly would love to see Blash put Helm back at center next season to up his trade value.

Your Fabbri hate is loud and clear. You're literally the only person I've seen who considers this overpayment.

Mantha and Bert will be paid based on their performance. Much like Fabbri was.

Making less than 3 million per year in being paid a premium now? He was on pace for ~50 points. He got a 2 year deal to prove himself. You're looking at his contract in terms of a raise. That's not how sports contracts works. Players get paid based on their production. His previous contract has nothing to do with it. There is no way in hell Mantha and Bert are looking at this saying "ooooo, we're due for a 350% raise". That's not how it works... And comparing this to Marner or Nylander? They went from ELCs to huge money. Fabbri signed a bridge deal. You're either out to lunch or massively bored and trolling, in which case I took the bait.

But haven't you heard? Mantha is gonna make 15 mil per and Bert will make 9 mil per.

I'm baffled by any complaints about this contract. It's zero risk, even when factoring in injury history. No trouble to tell some folks were just dying for some news to complain about.
