I'm guessing revenue sharing would straighten all that up in the end? -
The jury is still very much out on this kid. If he breaks out into a star winger, he'd hardly be the first high draft pick to have a sluggish start. Regardless, a 50 point winger is probably a safe bet for his floor. The question is how much will he improve on that? The tools are certainly there. His most recent play, while I wouldn't say incredible, showed promise.

Exactly. When I say they wanna be Jay and Dan, it is that they totally miss why Jay and Dan are funny.

He wants to be Jay and Dan, but lacks all the talent to do so.

Dat Lafreniere/Ehn combo confirmed
-
I don't disagree with your assessment of Rossi at all, having done a lot of reading up on him since. Sure I think you also undervalue Lafreniere, but that's fine. In the end, if Yzerman drafts Rossi, you'll be the first person I hope is correct. Since the Wings have royally sucked, the only consensus first overall picks I've clamoured for have been Dahlin and Lafreniere. If I had to choose between those two, it would be Dahlin without question. The whole 'Loose for Hughes' thing last year was a fun little rhyme. But Byram and Dach IMO were the big standouts in that draft.
-
I'm not against a wild move like that either, though for me it would be Drysdale and not Sanderson. Basically Rossi is to Kip as Drysdale is to me, with the one difference being I'd still take Laffy first.

1) Neither 2) Not making a point here. It's a reference to folks who prematurely label players as busts. Believe it or not, that world does not revolve around you or mackel. 3) Oh, just blaming me for singling out you and mackel for Zadina hate, which had nothing to do with anything i said to begin with. 4) You reduced my post down to talking about your and mackels opinion of Zadina. Inferring folks like me are accusing you of calling him a bust when all you ever did was refer to him as a middle six winger. The original post I made not only had nothing to do with you, gave examples of two players not named Zadina. Not to mention the whole thing started as a for-fun jab at Thornton's 7 point rookie season.
-
Your paranoia is speaking again. There has been plenty of other players in these forums labelled as busts prematurely over the years. Don't blame me because Zadina is living in your head, rent-free. You're literally strawmaning yourself.

I hope she was hot

Here's a thought: Lafreniere and Rossi could both become elite NHL players. One or both may take longer to become elite than most realize. Wild concept, I know. I dunno man, I'd just be happy to have an exceptional player. If people feel the need to fight over POSITIVES on their favourite team, maybe they need to take a step back and evaluate some things?
-
The first sentence is a fairly reasonable assessment at this stage. As for the second, plenty of folks have said Zadina is a bust. Sorry that you're so vain that you think every post is about you.
-
So if he doesn't match Auston Mathews' rookie season, he automatically can never be as good as Auston Mathews. Gotcha. I'm excited about the possibility of Lafreniere based on what he'll be capable for many years. Not just his first. How closed-minded does one have to be to think a rookie season will make or break a player? Oh right, basically half of LGW.
-
It was merely a jab at those who consider players a bust after their first season. It happens far too much. Look at all the flack Jack Hughes gets for god sakes. Folks will call Lafreneire a bust as well if he doesn't put up a point per game in his debut season.
-
Joe Thornton only scored 7 points as a rookie What a bust.
-
I think he showed more last season than this one. He was solid defensively since day one and put up 9 points in 60 games. Not bad for a rookie bottom 6 player. Basically everyone had an off year this season, so I'm not gonna hold his drop of scoring against him. It was a season where everything went wrong. The hope for me is that he can eventually reach his SHL scoring pace at the NHL level (translates to roughly 25 points per season). He never was a big offense producer by any means, but with some growth he can become a very good bottom 6 player, who can play center or wing. Especially if he can become a faceoff machine like LGW. I don't think he is a sure thing to achieve this by any means. But I do think he has shown enough that he might get there. A big factor working in his favor is his skating ability.
-
In the end, Ehn is not at all a problem with this team. He plays his role well, and there is zero harm in giving him a couple of seasons to see if his offense grows.
-
******* Mark Hartigan played during the 2008 cup run for god sakes.
-
It's because your sample size is too damn small. If you run a simulator involving 15 teams odds of winning #1 27 times, your results will appear to be random at best. You run it 10,000 times and I can all but guarantee you that each team will on average finish where their odds are. This is like calling heads or tails bulls*** because you get heads four times in a row, despite 50/50 odds. 50/50 odds does not mean you'll see the two results alternate every toss. It means after 1000, you'll have seen heads and tails roughly the same number of times.
-
Ehn barely cracked 100 career games. It's not crazy to think he can grow into an important bottom 6 piece. Most players in the league are "replacable" based on their stats after only playing 100 or so NHL games.
-
I know it's not what you asked, but it'll be the truth, as neither of the three players will hit those totals in a shortened season. In the end, we got plenty of time to see what we have in Ehn over the next couple years. If he builds upon his already solid defensive game and becomes capable of contributing 15 points a season, lovely. I just don't understand the urgency you seem to have for replacing fourth line players with the state the rest of the roster is in. There is literally zero risk in seeing if Ehn can become a more complete bottom 6 player. Once we're a competitive team, the fourth line can quite easily be addressed then. Like you said, those types of players are a dime a dozen.
-
Over appreciated by some, perhaps. But under appreciated by you. The truth is likely somewhere in between. Neither of these 3 things will happen next season.

He does have a habit of being around for a lot of draft lottery wins though
