NHL Season officially suspended until further notice - March 12, 2020

Points percentage or not, it's still s***ty for teams who have games in hand. A small playoff for the wildcard spots make most sense. You go by points percentage, and you have teams LITERALLY IN A PLAYOFF SPOT not make the playoffs. Try telling them that's fair. -

Teams have played different amounts of games at this point. That is hardly a fair way to go about it. Doing a quick elimination round with teams still in the playoff hunt is the only right way to do it if the season cannot be finished. Example: Islanders are outside of the playoffs by 1 point, but have two games in hand on the team ahead of them. Try telling them that they are out of it with two games in hand. -

I'll circle it back to bidet talk -

Luck is a major factor in career longevity. Ovie has also played his entire career in an era where it is more difficult to score. Lemieux got some of that nice 80's time in. Ovechkin is also gonna add many more goals yet. In the end, none of this is about knocking Mario. I have no doubt he was the better overall player. He is an all time great. It just goes to show how impressive Ovie truly is as a goal scoring machine. Imagine Ovie's totals if he played in the 80's. The Caps sucked for several years early in Ovie's career as well. He still put up his 50 goal seasons in those years.

Good thing he isn't 80+ -
Mario had 12 great seasons. He was never the same after his return. Not that I blame it on him. Ovie has a level of consistency in his scoring that has never been seen before. That sets him apart. Was luck involved? Absolutely.

If playoffs go ahead use standings as is, but have four wildcards in each conference. Have 4 best 2 out of 3 series for all wildcard teams to reduce to the usual 2 per conference. That way any team close enough to a playoff spot that has an argument still has a shot at making it. At some point, no matter which approach is taken will lead to something unfair for some team. Just got to suck it up and live with it at some point. -
I feel like longevity is a major factor when it comes to determining a greatest of all time. I mean, if we're gonna accept smaller sample sizes in the greatest goal scorer of all time, then it's likely Pavel Bure. But s*** happens, and he could not sustain it. A lot of luck goes into becoming the GOAT, and much of that luck involves staying healthy for your entire career.

They should cancel the draft lottery and leave it based on the standings -
I don't think Raymond will be any better than Rossi or Drysdale. You think he will be. Agree to disagree. Convenient, however, that you point out Raymond as a positional need. I'm sure that doesn't influence your opinions of him at all.

According to Lebrun on twitter, travelling refs have been informed to book flights home. -
Me. My opinion. That's the point of discussion forums, is it not? To express our opinions? I think Raymond is equivalent in terms of ceilings to guys like Rossi and Drysdale. Meaning I do not see him standing out as BPA. So the whole if all else is equal thing, take the center or dman. I literally called you out on making the BPA argument in my initial post, despite me explaining why I think it isn't the case, and you went and did it anyway. So as a fan I'm I not allowed to disagree with decisions made by management? Why do discussion forums even exist to begin with, if we aren't allowed to have our own opinions?
-
I myself don't think Raymond is the BPA anywhere from picks 2 through 4. That's literally the point of my initial argument. As for the bold, says who?
-
Lafeniere is the exception, because he is very likely going to be the best player in the entire draft. He has the combination of high hockey IQ and the skills to back it up that aren't often seen. His ceiling is higher than others in the draft. But it's that cluster of picks from like 2-8 where there is a lot of players with equivalent ceilings.
-
A Marner is lovely when you have Mathews and Tavares down the middle. But when there are centers and dmen in that range projected to be just as good as Raymond (aka Raymond not being the BPA, which is the argument you'll make next)? Take the ******* center or dman. Gonna be a long rebuild if wingers are taken with the top pick every year. The likely hood of Raymond being a better NHL player than guys like Rossi or Drysdale is minimal at best. Zadina has already been chosen over Hughes. Sure, hindsight. But maybe let's not make that mistake again so quick.

If Yzerman drafts Raymond I'll be ******* pissed
-
Rossi or Drysdale will be a great get if the lottery is not won.

Not to mention tied in assists with Bernier It's almost as outrageous as the better part of a month being spent arguing about Comrie

Luckily there is no need to buy out either, as they can simply be waived for their roster spot. Though buying out Nielsen next summer looks a lot better than doing it this summer.
-
Oh for sure. Any GM going into a season expecting a rookie to take the reigns with no backup in place is not a good GM.

Seeing you talk about Seider in a conservative manner is the weirdest s***. What have you done with the real CRL?!
