  1. I'm fine with it is it's overpayment. In the end, if he isn't moved today, he will be at the deadline next year anyway. I'd certainly prefer to keep him around for one more season.
  2. If nyqvististhefuture ran the team, we'd never contend, but he'd make it rain second round draft picks. .
  3. Bernier has been often getting practice off because of load management. Fabbri is banged up.
  4. Make a deal hard to refuse != overpay. Rebuilding teams shouldn't overpay for anything period. In the end, you never ever give up a guy like Fabbri in that trade. Anaheim didn't pay much in the trade they are doing Boston a huge favor here. We could rack up a few first rounders if Yzerman overpays for a bunch. But all that would do is set the team back.
  5. That's a steep price to pay for Yzerman. Which is likely why Yzerman did not make a trade with them. The whole point of targeting that first is to do Boston the favor of taking the Backes contract, not to give up valuable assets yourself... Boston would have to give up a hell of a lot more than that to get Fabbri, disney.com, AND to rid themselves of the Backes cap hit.
  6. I have little doubt Tampa will overtake them. Either way, the trade is nothing to get annoyed over. I'm just trying to offer some perspective.
  7. Boston does not want to do a divisional rival any favors. It happens. I mean hell, Boston gets upset in the first round and suddenly you're looking at a mid-round first.
  8. Maybe, just maybe, the price due to being a divisional rival was too high for Yzerman to pay. It's useless to get mad over things like this. We do not know what goes on behind the scenes.

Exactly. Even if he is in shape, he is still nowhere near game shape. Far from an idea rental. Gotta think anyone who trades for Buff is looking at next season.
  10. Boston chose to not send a first round pick to a divisional rival?

Buff has one more year left after this season ends, which is what would make things difficult for Tampa. There is also no guarantee he'll even play.

Too small a sample size for the odds to take shape

Consensus says there is definitely separation between Lafreniere and the rest. There are probably 3 or 4 guys that could go first had it not been the Lafreniere draft. Byfield has been the consensus #2 for a while, and I'm not convinced there is a single person out there who would choose Byfield at #1. Only time could tell how distant the 2-4 group will be. Lafreneie is one of those players who will likely make an immediate NHL impact at 18 years old. Others may take a year or two. So while some of these players may close that gap over the years, Lafreneiere will be in the league earlier and become an impact NHL player at a younger age. A good comparison is McDavid and Eichel. For the record, I'm not saying Lafreniere will be McDavid level. But McDavid was a great NHL player immediately. He was scoring more than a point per game as an 18 year old. Eichel hit a point per game level in his fourth season, so it took him a bit of time to start to dominate at this level, as most high end players do. So while both are great players, there was a big gap early on, Eichel has certainly narrowed said gap since. Of course, there is still no doubt McDavid is in a league of his own. In the end, only time will tell.

Tampa has been suffering the same issues the early to mid-90's Wings teams did. Too much skill, not enough grit. Adding guys like Coleman will no doubt help them. They are also playing far more complete hockey this season, which is why they sucked so bad early on. The fact that they are also kind of flying under the radar this season as well will also go a long way for their upcoming playoff run. They will be like the Caps. Fail when the expectations are there, then win it all just when nobody thinks they can.

I'd say at this point he is meeting him. There was definitely hype for him, but was always second to McDavid. Literally any other year he'd have been the #1.
  16. Butt hurt? I gave you the win dude. Not my fault that you're such a poor sport about it. More often than not, nobody needs to make you look stupid because you're quite capable of doing that all on your own. Case in point, the post I'm responding to. You're a condescending c***, and sometimes, folks just need to point that out.

But he found someone whose opinions align with his! Surely he wins.
  18. My source was wrong. It said 42 in NY, 12 in Philly. S*** happens. The fact of the matter is, if you're gonna split hairs over 50 points vs 55 points than so be it. There are players who managed to hit numbers like 52 points ONE time, and are making 6 million plus. If that is not delusional, but your criteria is, then so be it. Take the win you so clearly, desperately need. Dealing with everything is black or white type folk is exhausting.
  19. That's 54 points, learn to count, dummy. I guess there is still plenty of egg on your face too.
  20. If only you took the time to read the post before mine. You'd have avoided the egg on your face.

The team who wins the draft lottery won't give a f*** about Rossi. Once Lafreniere is off the board, Rossi is absolutely part of the conversation.
  22. No shortage of actual GMs being delusional then

Should the Wings try to sign Lehner July 1st?

According to Khan, word around Yzerman's people is that Howard will not be re-signed. That and it seems AA is not in the future plans as well.
