marcaractac replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Yeah Coleman is the exact type of player Tampa was missing last playoff run tbh. A workhorse who is great on the PK, can put up some short handed goals. The cost is high, but a team like Tampa can afford it. He's like disney.com if disney.com could put up 30 to 40 points per year. The cost of players so far with the deadline approaching is definitely giving me some hope on what we could potentially get for guys like Helm. Obviously Helm is no Coleman, but he is still a good role player, and teams need good role players to win. -

GM's sure learned their lessons, as you said. -
I don't think he is ready for a taste either, I just wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a short look before the season ends is all.

The dream can now become reality. -
I'm not saying he is playing well enough for promotion to a top 9 NHL role. I'm saying he is playing far better now than he did early in the season, and that if you don't think that's the case, it's because you haven't been watching. You keep twisting what I say as if I'm saying he is NHL ready when I clearly stated he isn't. So perhaps read my entire posts instead of spot picking certain lines that go along with this argument you are basically having with yourself at this point. Literally nobody is saying Veleno is NHL ready, yet you are arguing as if everyone is saying he is. 100% this. I fully expect him to continue to improve this season in the AHL. MAYBE he gets a 9 game look to end this season. If he does, it's not because he is ready. Perhaps management wants to give him a taste. Learn a couple things to take back to the AHL with him. My guess is he finishes this season strong, then next season becomes the go to center on the team, whether it be right away or after a couple months. Once he proves he is too good for the AHL, he'll be up. If that happens late next season when guys get shipped at the deadline, that would be grand.

Yeah. All signs point to something lacking between the ears, sadly. Rookies adjusting make mistakes by rushing, as they are smart enough to realize (pretty quickly, I might add) that they do not have the time available to them that they have once had.
-
The original question had nothing to do with the portion of your post I was mainly replying to. I was responding to your assessment of his AHL performance, which is only correct if all you have done was look at stats.
-
You also said allllll that extra stuff in the bold. That is the part I was following up on. Particularly with the upsized word. The initial question has nothing to do with it when you add a bunch of analysis that is no longer applicable to his current level of play.
-
Honestly at this point I'd rather see Cholo show some panic at the NHL pace that lead to his mistakes. That would show progress and that he at least understands he has less time at this level and is trying to adjust. Continuing to hold on to the puck too long at this point tells me that he simply is not learning, which definitely brings his hockey IQ into question.
-
I mean, sure, but I just wanted to put it out there that he has shown steady improvement. NHL ready? No. But nothing about his progress this year says he won't be at some point. Your explanation as to why he isn't NHL ready certainly explains his performance earlier in the season, but is very much incorrect based on the last month or so. At this point, I'd argue that his main deficiency is consistency.
-
The bold basically defines why he isn't calm and has no poise. Sure he had it in junior, but he doesn't have it in the NHL. Hell, he can't consistently show it in the AHL yet. This is why I think he should stay in the AHL until he could prove he is just too good to stay there. He has yet to do that.
-
Based on the first half of the season, I'd agree with this. But the kid has been steadily improving since the WJC. My guess is he finishes the season strong and starts off in the AHL again next season. That is when he'll make the case to be called up and start in Detroit on the wing, similar to Larkin.

We win draft lottery: Lafreniere-Larkin-Mantha Bert-Flip-Zadina Fabbri-Ras-AA/Puljujarvi Smith-disney.com-Abby Ehn, Hirose, and Svech fight for two spots Seider-Hronek Dekeyser-Bowey Nemeth-Lindstrom Hicketts Bernier UFA If we don't get Lafreniere, whoever we do draft won't be on the roster until 21/22. So Bert moves up, Fabbri moves up, Hirose on the third line, and perhaps Svech as an extra. Veleno makes the team later in the season with a strong start in the AHL. Flip becomes deadline trade bait and Ras/Veleno round out middle 6 centers. Cholowski also starts in the AHL to try and round out his game at the pro level. No NHL call up until he is ready to stick.

Wings can go .500 the rest of the way and likely clinch 31st. There is nothing to worry about. -
There is no chance Holtby stays in Washington. They have no money for him. Of course, I also hope Yzerman steers clear of him.

Mantha is fine. Players fight. He got unlucky with injuries in his. It's not like a punctured lung is some sign of being injury prone, it's a freak thing. Agreed on Larkin, Hronek, Bert, Zadina, Seider. I too like Stutzle. Agreed on a dummy purge, I just don't think Mantha will be a part of it. I too am not at all sold on Cholowski, and am ******* glad we got Hronek in that deal. -

Because surely no second round picks can move between now and the trade deadline. -

There are, I just don' think Larkin, Hronek, Bert, Mantha are considered dummies. If there are any trades involving said players, it makes more sense for said trades to happen a few years down the road. If a new core is established, use pre-existing core players to fill holes in the lineup. I'm just of the mind that said players are gonna keep getting better, and adding elite talent to the group would be lovely. If Yzerman thinks otherwise, so be it. -
If the price is right, hell yeah. Would be a lovely tandem next season.

No, it's not a mind blowing concept. At no point did I say anyone is untradeable. If there are hockey trades out there that make sense, then fine. I just simply don't see it happening. At least not any time soon. Yeah, because surely there is no contending team that could ever own another team's second round pick. Unfathomable! -

Trading those guys just sets the team back. Adding elite talent to them makes the team better sooner rather than later. -

Hope you're ready for 10 years of more suck, if that's the case. In reality, if we add a couple high end players with our first overall pick this year and next, the current core is a LOT better. Plus, Seider will be part of said core. I'd be fine with it if it were for at least a pick early in the second round. Anything beyond that, I feel Bernier has more value to this team next season, assuming he keeps up his current play. -

He was invisible, which is good for a rookie dman.
