I think Markstrom is the best fit for the reasons you mentioned. He'd be cheap. He should be available, and he only has 2 years left on his deal after this season. That takes him to 35/36, which isn't terrible for a goalie.

The desire to move Petry is simply to make a spot for Edvinsson. Petry I feel sucks the most out of the 7 D.

Not the worst idea at all. We need to move on from Husso, Reimer, and Petry. Get Markstrom from Calgary. Call up Edvinsson and Mazur. Who says no to a fourth line of: Kostin-Veleno-Mazur?

I feel like Markstrom is a realistic option. Calgary is def looking at a huge roster turnover.

This. Guys like Veleno for example. He sets himself apart by showing that he can score in a bottom-six role and play responsible hockey.

As for Holl and Chairot, it's almost as if when you play a player in a position he is suited for, he will strive. The Leafs had Holl in the top 4 because they were so thin on D. It's no surprise to me he struggled there. He is not a top 4 dman. As far as Veleno goes, he already worked his way into the top 9. He has been centering the third line and has been killing it. If this truly is a breakout year for him, I see zero reason to trade him. Veleno playing at this level means you can ease Kasper into the lineup on the wing when the time comes. Even Larkin started on the wing in his rookie season. I'm absolutely gutted for Fabbri though. He is such a good player when healthy, but just cannot stay that way. Though I guess having an often injured player in the lineup does make it easier to ease rookies in. Also, did anyone else see that the Ras/Compher/Copp line asked to play against the Crosby line vs the Pens? That is some baller s*** and I love it.

Vancouver would KILL to have someone offer sheet him, as they can simply match it and have EP long-term. He also won't hit UFA until about 8 years from now, because when he does get traded, an 8 year contract is likely part of that.
