To develop urgency to lock up for 8 years? Let's say a ppg season.
-
The question is, if Raymond has a huge breakout year, do you lock him up for 8 years in hopes of a lower cap hit long-term?
-
Because folks REALLY need to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find Yzerman L's. In reality, the only major one is Chiarot. Even then, calling it major is a stretch.
-
Injuries are part of the game. The Lions probably make the playoffs last season had they been healthy all year. If if if. This is why the games are played and championships are not won on paper.
-
Told ya that this team was different
-
He sucked in GR as well outside of that one decent season early on.
-
Yeah, I'm sure the rest of the roster does not work out. C'mon now.
-
Svech has never done anything to earn any ice time. He didn't score enough to make up for his limitations playing without the puck. That's been pretty constant with young players on this team for years.
-
This narrative of yours makes no sense. Yzerman literally completely overhauled the team's strength and conditioning department when he came in as GM because it was so out of date from the Holland era. Great conditioning is not gonna turn a roster into a squad of fighting goons. Also, every team deals with countless injuries every season. It's not exclusive to Detroit. Look at the chart since 2009 (with a bunch of Holland-era seasons included) vs. the chart from last season up until March 10th. Detroit is middle of the pack. There are no strength and conditioning issues.

1. Svech was never the same after his injuries. His luck in the league since has proven letting him go was not a mistake. 2. There was a short period of time this wasn't looking too good, but seems like an irrelevant move at this point. Regula might become an NHL regular at some point, but doesn't seem like he'd be anything outside of replaceable. 3. The jury is still out on this one. In the end, both likely end up as really good number 1 goalies in the NHL.
-
I hope the Toledo duo repeat last season but in GR. That would be lovely.
-
As for goalies in GR, don't forget Lethemon. I think we see the Toledo duo in GR this season. Lyon will beat out Reimer as the backup in Detroit.

'Discuss' is a word doing some heavy lifting there. In all fairness, it's pretty probable that this site was down during these rumors, as it pretty frequently went down for weeks at a time back then. Especially when something big was coming up... like a draft.
-
Then you go right ahead, internet warrior.
-
If someone takes what a sports journalist tweets as credible, then so be it. Those types of things SHOULD be credible. None of us know where these people got their info from to start these rumors. All people are saying is that these rumors existed. Nobody is gonna produce these tweets now because nobody cares enough to spend possibly hours trying to find tweets from years ago. Especially when people also probably cannot remember which journalists specifically tweeted them, to begin with. You haven't seen these tweets back in the day. Some folks recall seeing them. It's not a big deal.
-
I'm not talking about people speculating that he would be a good fit. I'm talking about people tweeting that the kid's name was tied to Detroit from multiple journalists leading up to the draft. Whether they themselves are speculating or not is irrelevant. Sports journalist decides to tweet: "Wings interested in Stutzle," because they themselves think it's a plausible and safe assumption based on the German connection. That is the origin of the rumor. Rumors do not have to be fact, nor do they have to have any basis in reality at all. All it takes is for people to believe them to spread. That's literally what a rumor is: 'a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth'. If you don't buy it, who ******* cares. Does not change the fact that those tweets happened. And no, I'm not gonna waste my time searching for said tweets for you, because I don't care if you believe it or not. Just pointing out how you are being a c*** for no reason.
-
The German thing was my own speculation on why sports media people on Twitter were posting it, to begin with. Regardless of where these 'sports journalists' get their info, these posts are absolutely rumors. Whether they themselves are hearing it through the grapevine or are starting it themselves. That is what rumors are. It's just such a stupid thing to give people a hard time over. Make no wonder this forum has all but died.
-
There 100% were sports people on Twitter posting about Detroit having interest in Stutzle leading up to that draft. It was likely based solely on the fact that Yzerman already drafted Seider from the same program before that. But it was still put out there, regardless of how true it may or may not have been. To expect folks to go back and find specific tweets from multiple years ago to prove it is just foolish. Let it go.

Wing Hire HC Derek Lalonde, AC Bob Boner, AC Varaday, and GC Westlund

I was told that players cannot work out and get stronger in Sweden. -
You clearly did not watch him in his first season when he looked like a deer in headlights. More ice time doesn't fix that. Development does.
-
What does this rant have to do with me? When have I ever trashed Laf? I've always been the one saying Yzerman should trade for him if he ever became available, as his name ends up in trade rumors semi-regularly. I know he will be a ppg winger. He'd likely already be there if the Rags weren't such a travesty at developing young players. Their own fans acknowledge this. To act as if the Rags have competent development is laughable at best. The Wings have their prospects work their way up and earn ice time. It isn't gifted to them. And rightfully so. If the Wings drafted Laf he'd either produce in a top 6 role right away, or he'd be sent down to keep working on his game until he could. He would not be wasted on a fourth line as a struggling 18-year-old.
-
Do you really think Yzerman gives a s*** about that? Having said that, if he DID take Laf, at least he'd have been developed properly and not thrown to the wolves.
-
Having Petry at already 50% off makes him a great TDL asset for next season. Also, please let this signal the end for Chiarot.
-
Jonas clearly just looks at stats. He sees 'from Sweden, 5'11"', and makes the conclusion that he is a weakling Euro who cannot make anything happen on the ice. Just like he reads that Raymond spends the summer in his home country, therefore could not possibly be hitting up a gym there.
-
I'm hoping he gets traded to a competent team so he can truly break out offensively.
