Would we even have a good spot for him , now? I don't think so.

Toronto Radio: Illitch is selling everything and Babs will be Leafs GM

Aren't they getting Stevie Y and both Bowmans, too, to complete the Mgt Team? -
I wish I wouldn't have seen that. Quick, watch a Nyquist highlight video!

I still miss the Old Red Barn... I'd like sit and sip wobbly pops with both The Barn and The Joe: Oh the stories they could tell.
-
I saw some good shows there, too, like The Kinks.

It's only been 3 games. Maybe he sits 1 game for every 10 games he floated last year?

Need downtown residents to have a vibrant downtown area. Good idea, hope it's done well. Be cool if they keep the Joe Louis name on one of the buildings. For the sake of Joe AND Red Wing history. I call dibs on the lockeroom floor for my rec room.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg were our big pickups this off season.

Thanks but I'm seeing Getzlaf fight through a half hearted Kronwall check at the 4 sec mark, then Getzlaf fights through a half hearted check by Franzen at the 7 sec mark, then Kronwall skates into the boards as Getzlaf stretches with one hand on his stick and appears to lightly touch Kronwalls thigh, and possibly his lower hand. It is clear that there is NO tugging motion.I agree with the author you linked to, where he says it was "borderline", and borderline does not get a call reversed. My take away from that little video is that in the waning seconds with the game on the line, Getzlaf wanted it a lot more than Kronwall and Franzen. After our young guys busted their asses all game, the veteran leadership of Kronwall and Franzen let them down.

Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?

Just because the polls are still open for their "Who will score our first goal? ", thread? :-) -

I suspect Babcock inserts Weiss into the lineup on the same day Datsyuk returns. He'll somewhat take the spot light off him that way, if you know what I'm trying to get at. -
There wasn't enough conclusive evidence in the video yesterday to overturn the call. Was it a one handed love tap on the thigh? Did he put the stick on the leg and pry the lower hand outward? Inconclusive. I don't think one challenge stoppage would ruin the flow of the game.

Yet, on hfb the Kings fans are already complaining about lack of prospects... -
Nice call!

Seeing if anyone actually reads my drivel. ;-)

I'd love Weiss packaged up for Myers, but I'm not understanding why Buff would let him go.

As much as I like Babcock, and I do think he's a great coach, but I think atleast half dozen coaches would've won the Cup w/ that '08 team, and his Golds with those Canadian teams. Holland hoarding his assets again with Babs and Blashy. It's a tough call: The only way to ensure a smooth transition is to let Babcock go and send a moving truck down I-96 to pick up Blashill's things and bring 'em east. If Babcock gets a 2 yr extension, then we risk losing Blashy ( his term will be up by then, too) and then what? The chances that one of the good coaches we'd like would actually be available is pretty darn slim. Be cool, say five years from now, to have Blashill behind the bench, Yzerman calling the shots, Holland way up high in the office (doing lots of interviews) w/ Nosek, Larkin, Sheahan, Glenny down the middle, Mantha, Nyquist, Tatar, Pulks, Cleary, Jurco...our futures so bright, we gotta wear shades!

A perfect quote for Flashy's GDT. (He has changed the way I look at posts forever!) What's up with Anaheim letting in 6 Penguin goals? Anybody see the game? Does it mean we may be good for three?
-
Dude, that is too awesome, a real GDT Masterpiece. I'm honored.

No, but he did hit the ice like a man possessed when he finally was inked in to the lineup. I can easily see Babcock spinning Holland's roster situation into a bit of a Good Cop/Bad Cop routine: Babcock blowing a little wind up Tatar's skirt while Holland holds tight on the chains...but honestly I can't recall too many details about that time... But kind of like what Babcock was doing with Jurco this year, supporting Jurco while at the same time telling him that what he's done so far still may not be enough to convince management, so he's got to pick it up even more. Exactly. So why is that? He's putting pressure on Weiss. -

I certainly do. Look how vanilla our lineup is without Weiss, and/or with a lackluster complacent Weiss doing f***all. We simply don't have the personnel to support D &Z as 1c, 2c. D and Z need to be together, with a solid threat 2c, otherwise, we get shut down more often than not. Edit: mis-read your post. I thought you were referring to his agreeing with me about Babs/Weiss, but I now see you're referring to The Babs/Tatar situation. -

I'm prepared for an 0-3 start to the season, with that lineup vs Boston, Anaheim, Boston. Even with Pavel coming back healthy, vs Toronto, Toronto, Montreal, Montreal, we could easily see 1-4-2. Weiss as 2c really is this team's wild card. He's got to bring his compete level up higher than ever before for this team to win. If he plays with any kind of complacency, we simply don't have the top 6 to compete in this league. Babcock knows this, and is keeping him down, putting the pressure on, to make him or break him. Weiss is either going to get so pissed at being scratched that he's foaming at the mouth to return, or he's going to wuss out and use his time off with injuries and the new team experience as an excuse for never regaining form.
