Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

If he does, in fact. end up here, who centers him? First or second line? I'd almost like to see him on the second line, with Zetterberg manning the other wing and an unnamed center. Zetterberg might help even him out if he's still quick to overreact or act out. Although I'm still of the mind that Z belongs as our third line center at this stage in his career.

    Blashill

I was saying the same thing earlier. If he'd be willing to take it, make him your offense/special teams coach, and keep trying to get Chelios to be our Defense coach.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

I don't think that's what he meant. Fedorov has ties to Detroit. Of course, he wants him back on his club, but if Radulov decides to leave for the NHL (which he already has publicly stated), then Fedorov might be instrumental in giving Holland strong feedback on the kind of player he has become in the KHL and what kind of career he can have in the NHL at this point.

ECQF Game 4 Post-GTD: Tampa Bay 3, at Red Wings 2

Holland did not prepare for Lidstrom and Rafalski retiring. I'll give you that Rafalski's decision was sudden and not expected, but they were both getting up in age. You cannot replace Lidstrom, I don't think anyone is saying that, but it falls directly on Holland for never addressing that loss in any way, leading up to it and even now. Kronwall is not a top 2 d-man, never has been. Ericsson is a 5/6 guy, Quincey is a conundrum in that he can play lights out defense sometimes, but a lot of times he is just invisible out there. Green was a good pick-up, something we needed. I do get confused as to whether he is deciding to play the way he is, or if the coaching staff is having him do that, but he is not playing in a way that allows him to shine as he did in DC. They need to have him on the first PP always and slapping shots from the point all day long (another thing we've missed since Lidstrom left). DeKeyser had a good year last year, but this year he has been inconsistent at times, out of position, and coughing up the puck too frequently. Marchenko is young and still learning, and Smith is another case of using a player the wrong way. He finally was used appropriately in Game 3 and somewhat in Game 4 and look at him suddenly make an impact. They have a lot of work to do in the offseason and the worry is that Holland will sit on his hand and keep sitting on this streak. If Datsyuk does indeed leave in the offseason, and Holland chooses to do nothing, we will not be making it 26 years. They need to shake things up a bit. Thank goodness Andersson is leaving as he is redundant and really useless on this team. A2 has proven this season and in the playoffs that whenever he is on the ice, good things tend to happen, so why not play him on the 2nd line at least, give him the opportunity. It makes me want to pull out whatever hair I have left when I see that we've been struggling on the PP and A2 got 21 seconds of PP time all game. Why it doesn't occur to Blashill to put him out there is beyond me, and I hope it's not some sort of hard-headed characteristic that we are seeing because it will be his downfall ultimately if he can't learn from his mistakes. Mantha is not THE answer, but he NEEDS to be in, in Game 5 to hopefully spark the powerplay and have a chance to extend the postseason. Having a big body like that with the hands he has should help. If we lose, at least he gets the experience and that can't hurt as he will more than likely be starting on the big squad next season. My thought is that we finally have an offensive breakthrough on Thursday, but Tampa Bay doesn't slow down either and we lost something like 5-4 in OT. Of course, I can also see us just getting shut out, 2-0. We've proven over 4 games that we can't score anymore than 2 goals a game. That is not a recipe for success, at all.

ECQF Game 2 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 5, Red Wings 2

Anyone else get just a tad bit pissed when they started playing Small Town Girl while they were deciding the penalties? Some things are just too much, and THAT... that is our victory song you bag of d's.

ECQF Game 2 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 5, Red Wings 2

Yes but that guy (Blunden) decided to jump on his back like a little ******, Abby gave him exactly what he had coming to him.

ECQF Game 2 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 5, Red Wings 2

The priorities for the next game are to get Mrazek in for Howard and Mantha in for Andersson. We were 10 for 23 on the PP with Mantha down the stretch.... terrible benching by Blashill for Andersson, Andersson is redundant and mediocre at best. I would also bench Nyquist or Tatar for Jurco. Move AA up into the top 6.

    Nyquist Files For Arbitration

Nyquist will get pretty much the same deal Tatar got. He will sign a 2-3 year contract averaging around 3 million per and when he becomes a UFA, he'll sign a 7 year 6 million type contract. You read it here first. Oh, and he's not going to get to arbitration for any nut-bags who think that's even remotely possible. Look at the Wings track-record on that for proof.

    2015 Draft

Well he's a right handed shot and looks like he has good offensive skill from his stats, anyway. He is coming over to NA this season (Green Bay) so that'll be telling.

    2015 Draft

Just forget the grammar guys.... why do you care? It's a forum... on hockey... from people who are in different parts of the world where English might not be the first language. And again, it's a forum.... people here aren't writing, nor do they care to write, for Grammar Nazi magazine. Let's talk hockey. I find the forum for this years draft to be lacking seriously. Where in the hell is the excitement, speculation, and rumors? Holland is going to hard after Green in UFA.... Wings also have so much forward depth they could use some prospects in a trade to get a top D. And if they don't, this team is going to be exciting to watch (more than it is now) with a lines like these: Svechnikov - Larkin - Mantha Athanasiou - Turgeon - Pulkkinen I know, there will be current players like Tatar and Nyquist that will factor into these lines, but it's still exciting to think about. Now stop being so cranky and discuss the draft!

    2015 Draft

Maybe... maybe not. Who knows, but I gotta imagine Holland will be calling and hopefully he can work something out. I think it would be solid for this team. He'd pair nicely with Kronner.

    2015 Draft

I'm thinking Holland goes hard after Green in UFA... maybe even trades for his negotiating rights... we have the depth to do so.

    2015 Draft

What about this Travis Konecny guy? He slid down pretty far by the sound of it. The announcers were disappointed he didn't get selected by Ottawa because he's a local kid.

    Free agents this off season

Detroit is interested and by all accounts the best of the crop of teams who have shown interest so far (Detroit, Calgary, Colorado, Edmonton, Carolina).

    Okposo being shopped?

I'd take him in a heartbeat....

    Cody Hodgson

http://www.tsn.ca/radio/toronto-1050/mckenzie-cody-hodgson-likely-to-be-bought-out-by-sabres-1.305827 So it sounds like Bufffalo may buy him out. He had a rough season, but is only 25 years old, 6' 192 lbs, and shoots right. How are we on center depth? Does anyone know much about him? I just remember he came out as a rookie and looked pretty good and had a good seasons on a crap team in in 12/13 & 13/14.

Report: Jeff Petry and Munn-tree-all ruin 2015 free agency

I have a feeling that if Kenny goes to the UFA for a d-man.... it'll probably end up being Franson. He's under-performed a little the last couple of seasons (especially in Nashville) and may not command as much as Green. Who knows what might happen though. Kenny will probably just stick with the kids anyway.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

I'm pretty sure he is, he is going to play through it and have it looked at in the offseason apparently.

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick

Yeah Marchenko is going to head down and possibly be recalled for after the restricted roster period ends..... Zidlicky will play on the bottom pair, and on the 2nd power play unit.

Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

Well three puts him right into his prime, and if he were to get low-balled, he has an arbitrator to fall back on. I see the appeal of a 3 year deal. This signing is a solid one in my book as I think Tatar will turn out to be very consistent and solid for the team.

Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV

I believe he is a key player on this squad. He brings so much energy each night, and can score from multiple spots. He isn't afraid to go to the hard spots and is good in low. He has top speed and a knack for making key plays. Good signing.
