'District Detroit': Red Wings' New Arena Details Released
SwedeLundin77 replied to TheCaptain19's topic in General
I would be absolutely surprised if it wasn't called Olympia Arena/Place/Center/Stadium.. "The arena itself would cost $450 million. Olympia would contribute $11.5 million annually for 30 years toward the construction debt for the 650,000-square-foot arena. The DDA would contribute $2 million a year. And another $12.8 to $15 million a year would come from property taxes paid within the city's downtown development district. Olympia would also invest $200 million in developing the proposed entertainment district, bringing the development's total price tag to about $650 million." - Mlive -
Signed Dekeyser signed. 2 yrs $2.187 million AAV
SwedeLundin77 replied to FireCaptain's topic in General
I bet DeKeyser will get between 2-3 million per for 2-3 years. Tatar will get 1-2. -
It's not the best, but it's not as bad as you make it out to be.

http://penguins.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=56899 Looks like he was primarily involved with the Forwards and Penalty Kill Units. Maybe this opens the door for Bylsma to come in as the second assistant.. that'd be interesting.

Re-read my second half where I said, "Now whether it actually comes true, that's a different story."

Enter Bylsma...

Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses
SwedeLundin77 replied to anthonyn66's topic in General
It utterly pisses me off because why in the hell would you agree that you'll "take care of him" the following season?!? That's called signing him to a 2 year contract... wow. But at the end of the day, it's a business. Cleary's health is obviously on the decline and has been for years. Despite him working hard and getting in good shape, his body is not the same and can't take the same punishment it could 5+ years ago. That's when you say, "we're sorry Danny, but we are very concerned about your health and we're going to need to pass." It almost makes me feel like they want to keep him in the organization so badly after he retires that they're willing to let him drag along until then just so they don't piss him off and lose him to another management team. It's just bad business on Holland's part. He needs to wake up because all of this loyalty that's being thrown around is only going to disgruntle the young prospects who are proving they're ready to make the jump and then you'll end up losing them the first chance they become UFA's. The only sense I can make out of this is that they're moving forward on trading a young guy for Green, Yandle, Byfuglien, or Myers.... Doubtful though. -
Really? http://msn.foxsports.com/detroit/story/source-defenseman-mike-green-is-wings-top-trade-target-070814 Facts are facts, unless Art is just making it up, which I doubt. Now whether it actually comes true, that's a different story.
-
Depends on what the cost is.... It's understandable to be reluctant to relinquish Tatar, Nyquist, Jurco, or Mantha. The offense is not exactly at it's best, and could be considered worse if they lose one of those guys.
-
Honestly I think Franzen's long-term contract makes him a non-starter when it comes to trades. Sure it looks good in the next couple of years but when he gets to the back end of his 30's, could be a pain.
-
If Mike Green comes to Detroit and puts up 40-55 points a season, that's fantastic and all they need. They'd expect him to develop his defensive game, much like they expected it of Bertuzzi and he improved in the twilight of his career, so it's not out of the question.
-
Green had 9 goals and 29 assists in 70 games this past season. They don't HAVE to move him, and they know we really want him now, so the price tag will be relatively high. They'll want one of Tatar, Nyquist, Jurco, or Mantha to start.

This only makes sense if they move out Kindl...

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
SwedeLundin77 replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I know it'll never happen, but there are some intriguing RFA's out there... Offer Sheets? Ha! P.K. Subban, Cody Franson, Jason Demers... Of course all of their respective teams have plenty of cap space. -
First of all, Babs wouldn't put up with Byfuglien's s***, not that I'm aware there is any baggage to be had with him.... I've never heard of any issues of him being an issue. Second of all, that'd be a huge gain for our D line and our offense from the back end.
-
Morris has had injury issues, but I'm not sure what else would make them shy away from him. I can say that I feel they would have signed him over Quincey if they were going to get him at all. Holland will always go with the guy who has the experience within the organization. I think the only option they have to better the defense now is through a trade. So you're looking at guys like Mike Green, Tyler Myers, Keith Yandle, Cody Franson, Jeff Petry, Johnny Boychuk, Dustin Byfuglien, If I were a betting man, I'd say they go hard after Green and Myers.... most likely landing Green (if they land anyone at all).

There have been rumors that Holland was/is talking to Buffalo about possibly acquiring him, but not sure how that stands now.... Mike Green seems to be the name now, most likely to move. -

My hope is that we can trade for Green, Boychuk, Yandle, Myers, or Franson..... then I'll be okay and happier at least. We'll see if Holland can pull this disaster of a UFA period out of the dumps and do something positive, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. -
signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV
SwedeLundin77 replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Yep , and in these next two years, the future beyond would have benefitted from giving Sproul and/or Ouellet a shot instead of a terrible defenseman making too much money. -

Yep, cause we "owe" him, since he left term on the table last year. Screw off Holland, it's a business! -

It's irrelevant how much he'd get on the open market. He is terrible, we'd be better off with Sproul or Ouellet. -
