GDT 1/17 GDT : Flyers (2) at Red Wings (1) Shoot Out
redwings56 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
We've got to get rid of Smith. How many mistakes does he have to make before they ship him off -
I swear he's going to cost the Wings a game in this run if Babs doesn't bench him asap

Give me ideas!! -
Obviously we don't see the work ethic behind the scenes and there's something that keeps him in the lineup. Babs has a reason im sure, but at what point does his turnovers become too much of a detriment. I'd prefer he be removed from the lineup. His effort level isn't up to par

If there is already a thread with Smith trending please move this one (I'd be surprised if there isn't one already bashing him). I need to vent and hear others state their displeasure of his play. I'd like to "as of late" but he truly has not shown any upside since he entered the NHL. Effort level defensively is non existent and his decision making skills are suspect. I guess there isn't any one better to input in his spot but MAN he's gotta go! He will be the reason the red wings lose a game if not a series this playoffs

Smith is my least favorite red wing since Samuelsson. Smith rarely does anything good and mostly makes mistakes
-
Tats having a rough game eh

Smith needs to go. Preferably traded in the division so wings can benefit from his mistakes when they play against his new team
-
I can't stand when smith is on the ice
-
Keep him this year and let him walk in the off season. Side note, how bad has jimmy been in shootouts. He has lost the Wings 5 pts alone. Good thing there's no shootouts in playoffs. Also I don't know if there's a thread on howard, I couldn't find one.

My opinion is that he is looking GREAT out there. He doesn't have very good finnish(pun intended) around the net, but he is looking more and more like Datsyuk. Throwing his weight around in the corners, handleing the puck really well, his vision is there and he is showing good backchecking skills. Give him at least this year and he will be a really good second line centre, even though he could play that position to start this year, i think Franzen better suits it with Hossa and hudler. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom. Leino, Fil, Helm. Malts, Draper, Cleary. the only problem with that 4 line is that Cleary is making a lot to be a 4th liner. but i think he fits in so well with Draper. Either way, i see Fil moving up when Franzen leaves next year and Leino being a solid player over Hudler.

I want someone to find the goal in the playoffs when Datsyuk flipped it into the zone with the time expiring in the 2nd period if i remember right and it took an odd bounce off the ice and Zetterberg crashed and scored. I know it wasn't against Pitts, and thats about it, i would think it was against Colorado.

he will get eaten up be montreal press and radio people. I hope they aren't expecting much of him because if they try him in a second line role he will get destroyed and not meet expectations for 16 minutes a night. If he plays 11 minutes with secondary PP time, then he might work out for them. We'll see, right now that trade doesn't make sense because they just got rid of Ryder who was SLOW, UNMOTIVATED, and did not back check. spitting image of an older LANG. good luck Bob Lang
