That was funny, and its obvious he did it for attention. They probably cut that broadcast short so Mickey could go kick some ass.

I was told yesterday that there will be an announcement during today's game, announcing joe vision. Thats why I asked yesterday where tickets are usually bought, because I'm planning on going.
-
I didn't want to start a new topic on this, so I'm just bumping this previous one up a bit. Where are Joe Vision tickets usually sold? Did you used to be able to buy them at the door at all, or did you have to buy them through ticketmaster and such? There is Joe Vision for the finals, we'll hear about it tomorrow.

Couldn't have asked for a better game 1!

I like how every team we've played this year, their message board always has something like this: "wow, either our guys are just having an off day or Detroit is really just that good". I was wondering how long it would take for something similar to come up on the pen's board, and surely enough, a similar quote showed its face on page 19 of their GDT. It should be quiet obvious by now that these teams aren't having off days, it's definitely Detroit making them look like they are playing bad.

I honestly don't know much about Bettman. I do however, have friends who have been fans of the NBA for a very long time. Last week I happened to mention Bettman, and my buddy turns around and asks me if I'm talking about Gary Bettman. I said yes, and he told me a story about how he used to be involved with the NBA, and he & the refs rigged some games. He got fired because of this, and moved onto the NHL. I've been searching google to see if this is true, but I haven't found anything. It's just weird how now I come on here, and I read what you just said. It's pretty similar to what I was told, now if these stories are true, I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

I was thinking about this same exact thing today. I've seen Pistons ones the past few years, and I'm sure we'll see them again this year. Would be nice to see the Wings again. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Wings won the cup, and they held no parade for them.

Normally I rarely listen to the radio while driving, as I prefer to use CDs. Earlier today I was listening to the radio for a little bit while driving, and I turned on channel 95.5. I got pretty frustrated listening to this. Not once, were the Detroit Red Wings mentioned. During their commercials and such, they kept promoting the Pistons, and them currently being in the Eastern Conf. Finals, and congratulating them. I feel that this has something to do with how the Wings aren't as big here anymore as they used to be. Back in the late 90's and earlier in the 2000's, Red Wings would be equally mentioned by radio stations in the Detroit area, promoting the team, and giving them props for their accomplishments. Now, as I said earlier in this post, I don't usually listen to radio stations much anymore, so I don't know if all radio stations ignore the Red Wings, or if it's just 95.5. I do know however, back in the dates mentioned, that this radio station gave the Wings equal treatment. I'm not sure if the team is supposed to pay for this type of advertisement, and maybe the Wings don't. I highly doubt thats the case, but it could be a slim reason why. Maybe someone that knows more about this, or has noticed this could post why this is like it is. This is Hockeytown after all, it just doesn't feel like playoff hockey when you don't hear on the radio what we used to.

I get what you're saying, but I'm comparing it to the past years, when their commercials and such actually congratulated the Wings on their success. Now, it's all about the Pistons. Maybe it's just getting on my nerves because I'm not much of an NBA fan and I'd rather the Wings get the extra talk rather then the Pistons.

Don't forget your series against the Sharks. San Jose winning 2 meant nothing, so don't get too cocky just yet.
-
And Detroit is even better at 3rd period come backs.
-
McGuire was announcing the Russia/Finland and Canada/Sweden games yesterday, so maybe they have him doing that instead of the playoffs for now.

I don't think a new arena would magically put extra cash in people's pockets to go to games. It would be great to see a new arena, and very enjoyable when you have the cash to go, but with the current economy, new or old arena wouldn't make a difference, for me at least.

Normally when my buddies and I get together to watch playoff games, we go up to local bars around us, or Chelli's Chilli in Dearborn. We're looking to go some place different for these the remainder of the playoff games, something with more of a Red Wing atmosphere. Does anyone have any fun places they could suggest? Also a link to their web site too, if they have one, for directions.

Not a trick question at all. I mean, it has the Red Wings atmosphere (obviously, with all the Red Wing stuff around, and owned by a Red Wing), but the one in Dearborn doesn't have the intensity, with the fans and such. Every time I've been there, its been dull to be honest. You only see a hand full of Wing's fans, and even then there isn't the excitement that certain people describe with other places that I've read on here. It's playoff time, the Wings are doing great, so for those of us who can't afford $200 seats to the Joe, we look for the next best thing, and for me, Chelli's in Dearborn just isn't it. Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions

I'd think it was that before saying a Wing's fan threw it out there during a Philly/Pens game.

What a great finish this is turning out to be
-
Flyers fans are terrible I know, but that sign the one fan had was just great...
-
Flyers are on fire tonight, this is a great game so far
-
I don't want Pens to win tonight either, but would them having extra time off really benefit them? If you remember after they swept the Sens, they came out pretty rusty the first game 2nd round, and were down. I don't remember if it was late 2nd, or beginning of 3rd period where they started skating and making a come back. I think if that was to happen against Detroit, they wouldn't let the Pens back into the game.
-
This is actually the first time I've bothered to listen to Bettman, and all I can say is this guy is dull and can put anyone to sleep.
-
I'm not sure if this is already posted somewhere, I haven't been able to find it, but, does anyone know where I could find a video of the no-goal from last night? I'm sure there has to be one online somewhere. I have a buddy who missed the game because he had to work, and he's wanting to see a clip of the call.

I may be wrong, so someone who knows more about Sammy can correct me. But, doesn't Babs like Sammy because he has a rocket of a shot, and uses him to cause rebounds, which can lead to goals? I understand a lot of people don't like Sammy, including myself, because he's not that great of a player, but just because he doesn't score doesn't necessarily mean he's useless. I've sort of gotten used to the idea that he's there for his powerful shot, and to cause rebounds. It would be nice to see him put it on net more of course.
