As much as i'm really starting to hate Howard, I agree, Abby just looked like a stooge out there.

I just hope the Wings can get a point out of this game.

I blame Howard for this loss, I say just play the monster both games this weekend and just see what happens. Yeah yeah I know, it doesn't matter who plays behind this Defense. I'd still rather see what that monster can do instead of Howard hes lost his position in my opinion. Hes just not good enough.

Sooner or Later the Wings will get some luck and stay healthy while the teams riding high will finally get bad luck and slide a bit. Usually the way it works. This season is so chaotic anything can happen.

Look, I still think the Wings will make the playoffs but that's what scares me. Obviously Holland would think nothing is broken and go into next season with the same roster with minor tweaks. Its almost like maybe missing the playoffs would make them rethink about their roster. After 20 years of greatness, its gonna take alot to get a stubborn Holland and Co. to really blow up the roster from older players.

Howard has always been an average goalie. Doesn't mean he's horrible, just not elite, we never needed a goalie to be elite(2008 playoffs Osgood was damn near elite though) before cuz of the stacked Wings teams we've seen. Now with a hurt D and a sputtering offense its obvious. Personally Howard can walk after this season and I wouldn't care especially if this Mrazek kid plays well again. I say its time for the kids, let all the old guys go, I'd rather see the Grand Rapids Red Wings than the Berts and Clearys on this team.

I really have to agree with you here, its the reason I hate Franzen, I've been a huge fan of Hossa since he played for the Sens.

As much as I hate Franzen, i just don't think any other team around the league would want him, he's very streaky, and doesn't work hard enough that a big body forward should. Yeah his contract isn't a big cap hit, Wings are just not gonna be able to move him unless we add another forward or two and a draft pick in a trade, and for that we might as well keep him. Maybe we get lucky and a team steps forward and inquires about him in the next few years but I really don't see it happening.

Suter and Parise don't look worth all the money if you ask me. Now granted they had Harding in net, and Parise had a gift goal off of Zetterberg, I still think they were over payed. Not saying they aren't good players but they should have beat a Wings team trying to find their defensive identity. But they didnt, so hopefully this will shut people up about Kenny not signing them. Hopefully this is the start of a confident Wings team. If we can beat Chicago on Sunday then I think we could go on a little points roll, maybe not 2 points every night but atleast 1 point a night streak.

I believe that last night was the type of game that the Blues said "after all those years the mighty Red Wings dominated and no longer have Lidstrom its our turn to be the big fish in the central for years" and they played like it, it was a statement game from the Blues. They are hungry they played like it, the only way to win in this new NHL is big, hungry young players. If the Wings play like this again tomorrow and lose big time then its time to panic, until then I'm just gonna believe it was just a statement game from the Blues and that the Wings didn't prepare.

Looking forward to seeing Brunner, and over the course of the last 24 hours I've slightly developed some respect for Franzen, lol, maybe he'll score. Hopefully Dats will give us some dandy goals. Go Wings.

As much as I hate Franzen, it would be a stupid move to buy him out, the only way we get rid of his inconsistent ass is by trade, and it would have to be something that makes sense. He isn't going anywhere unless a team has to have him and willing to give us a great player. That my friends isn't gonna happen.

I'm glad, would have been another Franzen type on this team. And I find it strange how most teams stayed away from him. Its gotta tell you something about his character.

I think the wings should wait, too many spoiled fans just want a name any name. Just because you have money now don't mean you have to lock yourself into a contract of a second rate player when in the future you can sign someone better in 2013. yes granted they might not be available, but i'm willing to take that chance after what i see available right now.

If this is what the roster looks like going into the season, I say we still make the playoffs at about 6th seed. We would get our asses handed to us on quite a few nights, but i still think we have the scoring to win some games, providing Cleary, Sammy, Bert, Flip, and Franzen can score for us on a regular basis. We would need everyone to really step up with a thin Defense as it stands now. Not to mention White and Kronwall would have to be anchors, and Smith would have to grow up fast and learn alot on the fly. But this isn't the final roster so lets see what happens.

I respectfully disagree. Suter and Parise make them better on paper, but I still think they will place 7 or 8 tops. I can see the Wings making 4-6 seed.

Holland is partly responsible for the long term contracts for less cap hit. Remember he did it with Z then with Franzen, then the Blackhawks did it with Hossa, next thing you know the whole league is doing it. Remember the rest of the league has always kept its eye on what the Red Wings do. For 20 years we have been a blueprint for building a powerhouse franchise and 29 other teams wanna do they same thing for their teams. I say if owners wanna spend what they feel the players are worth do it. Now they just have the loophole that Holland in a way exposed.

I agree, I would have rather given the spot opened from Hudler leaving to Doan instead of Sammy. The only way i would want Semin or Carle though is one year deals enough to get us through this season and allowing us to pursue the better FA market next year. Problem is Semin and Carle would probably want like 3 to 4 year deals maybe longer.

I think another reason why Suter and Parise wanted to play together in Minnesota because its a special place to American hockey players. I wouldn't say we lost 2 Elite defenseman, 1 yeah but your not gonna find another Lidstrom. I agree with the stars getting older, but maybe its time the Red Wings just take a chance with our young guys and see where it goes, its the fans that are spoiled that are fooling themselves. Wings just have to go about building the team a different way. I admit getting guys like Sammy and Tootoo, or signing Bert isn't the way to go, but we have Nyquist and Brunner to go along with Helm, Smith etc, lets see what they bring.
