Surely Chelios is done as a Wing?

    Your avatar is awesome
  2. I feel like Kenny is more likely to let players like Hudler, Sammy, Meech and Cheli go to drop salary than trade away any of our top line guys. He's a creative guy. He'll keep the core players together and build from the bottom up. Personally, I think Stuart is overpaid and would like to see him traded to drop salary, but I just don't see it happening.

    Merch Question

Probably not the best time to buy one of those. Don't think he'll be here much longer

    Marian Hossa Discussions

I recognize all the great things Hossa has done for this team in the regular season AND in the playoffs. He's great defensively and does a good job of holding onto the puck, but he needs to step up offensively. This is a guy that was one win away from winning the cup in his former teams' house and he didn't step up. He hasn't really step up at all in these playoffs. These playoffs have made me think he shouldn't be re-signed. Pens fans might be right, he does seem to be along for the ride rather than steering the ship to a Stanley Cup championship. He has to produce.

    Red Wings Limo in Pittsburgh

How embarassing for them. You can shout profanities, well done. I can't believe people proudly post something like that on the internet for millions to see.

    Red Wings Limo in Pittsburgh

"Hey Dan, what do you think of the car?" "Ahhh. Not that good." Ouch, that one stung. I would've expected a former grinder in the NHL to have more tounge than "Ahhh"

    Sergei Gonchar

I think this might be one of those times that a lot of people are showing their blantant biased against a Pens player. Gonchar is a top notch player even though he's more O than D. If he ever played for the Wings he'd be a stud as a second line D-man. He doesn't shut people down the way Stuart or Kronner, but I feel like that's the result of their system. The team doesn't commit to playing defense the way teams in the Western Conference do. If he played in the West it'd be a different story; esp. if he played for the Wings.

NBC is biased against the Wings

I haven't read many replies to this, but.. They talked a hell of a lot more about the Wings than the Hawks. If anything, they were biased towards the Wings...

    Hossa

You really need to lay off Holmstrom. You sound like a fool everytime you place the blame squarely on his shoulders. It seems like your anger is clouding your judgement quite a bit, and making you forget about all the great things Homer has done for this team over the years. You're bagging on him for his lack of production in the second round alone, and then defending Pavel and Hossa because of what they've did over the course of the year. I really don't get it.

    Anaheim Preview

I'd have to agree with this. To me, the only other deciding factor is goaltending, and I for one don't think Hiller will know what hit him. Homer, Franzen and Cleary are going to throw him off his game just like Mason Special teams also are hugely in our favor. And all the Ducks fans who are talking about the size of their players, please. If you think having the bigger hockey club is going to decide who wins this series, than you're kidding yourself.

    Darren Haydar

Next season, could Darren Haydar be the player to step into the Wing's roster and grab peoples attention? I pose this question because I'm damn impressed with what I've seen and read about him this year. He led the Griffins this season with 80pts, 31 goals and 49 assists. 28 more points than Abdelkader who took second. But the thing is, he's been putting up those kinds of numbers his entire AHL carreer; his worst season was 50pts in 04-05 when he missed 20 games due to injury. Statistics aside for a moment, the guy has tremendous character and leads by example. He took a paycut to sign a one year deal with the Wings, and I remember him saying afterward that it was because he wanted an opportunity to impess Red Wings management. At 29, he's an experienced player, has great hockey sense and a nose for the net. He isn't overly skilled or speedy, but he makes up for it with his determination along the boards. Next year we're going to have a few holes to fill and I think Haydar will earn a promotion.

    Pavel Thanks Don Cherry

http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/04/pa...k_daddy_do.html Pavel's response to Don Cherry's criticisms: "Puck Daddy: Tell us, what is so special about Detroit that a lot of stars want to play there? Marian Hossa is even considering playing there for less money. Pavel Datsyuk: I think that everyone is attracted by the team style of play. The great Scotty Bowman brought this style. A lot of people like "puck moving" hockey. And the Detroit Red Wings as the organization is so great. Your heart is happy every morning when you come to work. It is difficult for me to compare with other teams. I have never played for another team. And I don't even want to try. I am extremely happy that I am in Detroit. PD: Not long ago Don Cherry mentioned you as a player who hits people from behind, and that the Red Wings are a boring team. Can you comment on that? Datsyuk: He said what he said. It is his job to light the fire of passion in fans. And actually you have to look at it all differently. I was shown on TV once again! That's cool! Whether they talk good or bad about me, it is still exposure. Thank you, Don Cherry, for promoting me."

Johan Franzen signs extension, 11 years

I agree completely. It's scary to think we'd have franzen at age 39 making 4 mil/season. The cap hit has got to be less than 3 mil/season to justify such a lenghty deal.
