I think he'll sign for 6.7 ...So will Hossa
-
If I'm on a break against this guy, I'm going one way or the other than five hole. It has got to be enormous!

Darren Helm. He's been the only player to consistantly throw his body around.. and he's played two games. Now I don't think the Wings neccesarily need to finish every single one of their checks to be effective, but if we spend 60 minutes avoiding finishing our hits than the other guy is going to loosen up a bit. What Drake brought was uncertainty in a player's head. Am I going to get slammed or am I going to have an extra second or two to find a man? Poke checks and stick lifts are well and good, but as a team we need to start laying the body more when we have an easy opportunity to do so.. and that includes players like Z and Dats

Gotta Catchem' all, PokeMon!

Howard is far from being traded away in my opinion. As much as Holland said that Jimmy should use the signing of conklin as motivation, I just don't buy it. Jimmy was never going to picked over Conklin.. in the cap world it wouldn't make any sense. The Wings develop their players slowly as we all know. Just because he's still in the minors doesn't mean he isn't in managments plans. I don't think we can really discuss this until next training camp when its going to be a dog fight between Howard and Conklin. Now, I've heard noting but good things about Larsson, but I don't think he will take president over a kid we've been developing since 2002. Managment will keep him in the minors for atleast another year and have him fight it out with Conklin or Howard for #1 spot the following year. Atleast that's what I'm predicting way ahead of time

I don't know how you can't like this guy. I loved him when he was with the wings while at the same time admitted he had some negatives. But what other player in the NHL can you think of that would actually truthfully speak there mind when asked such questions? IMO, he is spot on. The NHL focuses all their attention on promoting the high scoring superstars like Crosby and Iginla and completely ignore all other elements of the game. If I know very little about hockey and all that is being talked about is these guys that are going to score X amount of points, then I'm going to perceive hockey as one dimensional. My ignorant friends are just like this. They don't even recognize the presence of the third and fourth liners. All they know is that Z and Dats are goal scorers. They don't understand the value of the 3rd and 4th lines. Ahh. I'm going to have to disagree. What you're talking about is making large revenues on clothing lines. Making stylish hats that the "rap crowd" will buy isn't going to broaden our fan base. Do you think because some kid buys a retro Blue Jays hat that he suddenly watches their games? If you do, you're kidding yourself. The NHL needs to educate the public about how hockey works. All the elements. If you don't even understand how the game works you don't become a fan.

Not only did you beat me to posting this, you have the same topic title I was going to use (pretty much) Well played.

Conklin's mask is my favorite. I really like how the primary background color is white and how he used the two holes on each side of the chin as the center of the tire.
-
Gorgeous! Realy like how you have the stations and HD color coded like that. Thanks!
-
Woah, a tight back. Sounds like he might be out for the year. What a terrible signing. Now two of our best players have chronic back issues. So much for repeating..

I know as close to nothing about you as someone can know. But if you're American, my only hope is that you don't buy a Real shirt because your friends recongnize it.. but that you buy it becuase you follow the club. Wearing a jersey shouldn't be a fashion statement, it should be a display of pride and loyalty.
-
Yea I've been thinking the same thing. Love AO, but I could never wear another teams jersey, except for throwbacks. I can't imagine myself explaining to someone why I'm not wearing a Wings jersey.. Seems two-faced to me.

Just placed my order. $37.81 shipped. WooT!

Most everyone has said they'd never trade Zetts for Iginla. Do you think Calgary fans feel the same way about Iginla? Personally, I don't think you'd be able to find too many Calgary fans that'd be willing to swap for Zetts.

I just wish we didn't actually own the name, 'Hockey Town'. That way it wouldn't be such a big deal. We could actually argue with other fans about who is the Hockey Town, instead of it being us against the world.

http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=2 If you go to watch the thursday edition of The Hockey Show you'll get to see the huge crowd that welcomed him home to celebrate the Cup. It was pretty surprising to me the numbers. Enjoy!

Well played, sir. Well played.

Getting rid of Cheli is like putting down the household dog you've grown to love. You don't want to do it, but you know it's time.
-
Seconded, it's just like Fleury did with Pitt.. to allow more time for negotiations. If it does actually go to hearing, the better for us.
-
I have a feeling this is just meant to allow Flips and management to negotiate more without an offer sheet flying in. Just like Fleury and the Pens. Also, if it does go to hearing I don't see any reason they would suggest Flips is worth more than 3 mil or so. I could be wrong, I guess I don't know how the third parties look at it exactly. But past experience tells me that they are usualy very fair to both parties. And in this case, its not a matter of a player demanding more. It's more about finding a number that can work for both.
-
I apolagize, my mistake. That is very surprising to me.. that he put up those kinds of numbers I mean. I've only seen him in the Winged wheel and I was always left very unimpressed. He never seemed to show much skill or NHL potential, IMO, hence why I described him as being dull. In fact, he kinda reminded me of Sammy (I'm not your stereotypical Sammy basher either) because he wasn't very creative with the puck and seemed to go straight away all the time.

thanks, and I def. agree when it comes to Quincey. As good as he's played, he doesn't seem to show the heart and desire that Meech has shown when he has gotten his chances. I think Meech is the better all around defensemen and also more offensively oriented than the stay at home Quincey as well. As far as Ericsson goes, he has another year to prove himself in GR if he doesn't make the roster (which is very likely). I don't see the Wings letting this kid go, everything I read oozes (sp?) man love all over him. Anyway, by next year I think there is a 95% chance lilja and Cheli will both be gone/retire and if so, there should be more room for him.. atleast thats what I'm hoping. edit: grammer
