hahaha, yea you got it fo-sheezy (sp?)

Well 95.5 listners aren't exactly a large portion of the hockey demographic...

I can't really argue that (even though I did right before ). All I was really getting at is that I'm tired of everyone using the jaw and mask as the reason he isn't scoring. I'm sure if you ask Danny why his production is down, he's not going to say, "its because of this damn soup bowl!" So again, he's been playing great defensively, been driving the net more, playing physically on both ends.. he's just not scoring.. and like you said, he's come close on several occasions. On the bright side, with his drop off in production we can probably cut 500k or so off his upcoming contract

Dispelling some myths: the Pittsburgh Penguins
DYags replied to betterREDthandead's topic in General
Very good thing to point out, esp. on the PP and PK. Like one of the Pens fans pointed out, they basically play a minute long PP because they stake all their forwards on the first unit. With Detroits ability to dominate the circle we should be able to continue to dominate the first 30-40 seconds of a PK -
People need to stop using his broken jaw as an excuse. He's had plenty of time to get his legs back and adjust to that soup bowl under his chin. He's playing great defensively, which is the only reason I'm not all over him when it comes to putting up numbers.. but like I said if your going to defend the guys productivety can you please pick something more original (and accurate) than, "yea, how about you break your jaw, get it wired shut, loose 20 pounds, yada, yada, yada" He was flying in game 6, offensively and defensively. He hasn't been putting up the numbers, but if he keeps playing like he did in game six he's bound to put some in eventually.. I'm just hoping its against the pens. And if its not, well then lets just hope he continues to shut down the opposing offense, afterall that could turn out to be even more valuable edit: grammer

Well said. While I don't agree Gonchar should have been a Norris canidate, I do think he is vastly underrated as a Dmen. I'm of the opinion that this will be a very close series. Shutting down your offense is going to be a hell of a lot more difficult than people on these boards are making it sound.

I can't believe there are so many poor and arrogant responses to this. Unlike RussianMalkin, this guy isn't just tooting his own frinkin homer horn here, he's asking for lgw qualitity feedback and instead he's getting ripped on for it.. I'm a bit dissapointed. In response Sidney, the wings haven't faced an offensive as deep and talented as the Pens either. I think Osgood will be facing close to 30 shot/game istead of 20, but IMO I see this as a positive. If your boys can get him moving side to side, you'll be rewarded. But on the other hand of that talented offense, you have a suseptible defense (which includes your forward units) that will be exploited by the Wings. When it comes to you PP, well if I were a Pen's fan I'd be hoping my coach was smart enough not to put 4 forwards against the Wings PK. Why? Because Datysuk, Zetterberg, Lids, Rafalski, Kronwall will eat you apart if you turn it over (which you've done a hell of a lot). I think its going to be a lot closer than most people on these boards seem to think, but I got the Wings in 6 If you guys can pull one out at the Joe, I can see this going 7

I got a black practice jersey that I've been lookin to get numbered for a while now. I love supporting the up and comers over the established superstars and for the past year or so I have been dead-set on getting Filppula put on the back of my jersey. But, hell! Helm has been truly amazing and my buddies are sick of me ranting about how he should be getting some 3rd (possibly 2nd) line time. Basically, all I'm asking is do you think its a smart move? I don't see Helm being moved any time soon, but do you guys thinks its a bit premature? Yeh or Neh?
-
Thats grade 'A' Well done
-
I don't. Helm has already outplayed Kopecky and deserves a stop on the roster for next year without a doubt. The kid is skilled and slippery. He doesn't shy away from the physical side of the game (Kopecy got the size and does) and knows when to shoot the puck. He and Hudler have been clicking and should be moved up in the peeking order. Cleary and Sammy have been none existent and don't have the skills to match Huddles and Helm offensively.. their Defensive play is the only think keeping them on the second line I feel.
-
Hudler-Helm-Abdelkader sounds like one hell of a fourth line. Lets hope it happens.

Good foresite.. I never posted on this because I though it was just wrong.. looks like I've been proved right (was hopin I'd be wrong)

WHAT MAKES McCARTY SO MUCH BETTER THAN DOWNEY BESIDES THE FACT THAT HE PLAYED WITH US BEFORE! You Downey downers are upsetting me (not directed directly at you)
-
I agree completely. I don't know why all of a sudden everyone is knocking Downey. He can outskate Mac any day! and won't make the bone-headed passes Mac tries to make either. You're replacing a "fighter" for a fighter and with the 3 minutes Mac has been getting it wouldn't be a drastic F'ing swap! I'm shocked he's still on the 4th line.. he IS what's slowing them down. Add a KADER to that line and you got something potent I have a large and in charge man-crush on Abdelkader, but its never going to happen so I'll stop there..

I read the first couple of comments and realized I had to post. I agree he's been lackluster to say the least. Lilja shouldn't be sitting in place of Chelli. Love the guy, but come on.. he's looked like a statue on many occasions this post season and as much as I love the guy, I'm just hoping he hangs em up before we have to make him. EDIT: this post was not just about todays gaff.. just my overall assesment of him as a player today

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=363624 Sorry if its been posted, I didn't see it. Thought this was a great read and is just another example of how well we draft talent and mold it into something great over time.

Better for this team to lose on or two heading to the finals?
DYags replied to NHLrules?'s topic in General
Going into game 4 I told my friends that I was "hoping" for a loss. I didn't want our boys soft going into the finals. But as the game went on I kept wanting a W more and more. But now that the loss has set in, I'm happy with things. No reason to be concerned going back the JLA up 3-1. Our boys will fly out the gates because they have a reason to. Don't worry, Be Happy Now
