Yep a lot of people are saying great for Pitt but they now have $7M locked up in their two goalies for the next two years. That two year contract for Vokoun seems dumb to me what with their looming cap problems i.e. Crosby and Staal both being UFA's next year and not a lot of cap space. The only way it makes sense to me is if they intend to unload Fluery, which seem plausible because I would rather lose him than Crosby or Staal, but unlikely to happen.

I don't know if it was the picks, they may not have wanted sign the guy for 2 years and pay him $2M. Jimmy is only at $2.25 and will be a UFA after this year. He would likely get a more substantial raise if his backup is signed for that year at $2M.

What do you expect him to say? He'd say that pretty much no matter what.

I agree I have sat in multiple places at the AA arena from the best to the worst and in between and always had a good view of the game.

I would say that the Kings having 5 top 15 and 3 top 5 draft picks in the last 5 years (and this with no 2011 1st round pick because they included it in the Penner trade) makes it kind of hard to compare their model to the Wings model who haven't had a pick higher than 19 since 1991. The Wings can't model themselves after the Wings without losing a lot more in the future. Additionally, the Kings have some good players but are kind of having a Cinderella playoffs I don't think they are going to be perennial contenders for the WCF.

Exactly and that problem is compounded by how much time the Wings spent shorthanded during the playoffs. They had so many penalties and spent so much time short handed, while having Helmer and Patty out with injuries (they were our two highest forwards at PK TOI/G). That PK time had to come from somewhere. Dats went from 1:13 shorthanded TOI/G in the regular season to more than double that at 2:47 TOI/G in the playoffs (Hank had a more reasonable increase from 1:04 in the regular season to 1:47 in the playoff but still a significant increase).

I voted yes. Based upon his points and hustle I think he has definitely earned a raise. However, with his specific size/talents along with what he brings to the team compared with what the Wings needs are should they offer him a raise? To me that is a completely different (and much more difficult to answer) question. Edit: Grammar

I could be wrong but I don't think they will trade or move Eaves, he started the season well and Babs said several times during the Nashville series that he was the Wing's best penalty killer before he was injured.

If Helmer is "nothing more than a 4th line player" why is he "going to get expensive." I think he is a lot more to this team than just a fourth line player hence the reason he will get more expensive. Hearing Babs talk about him after the lacerated tendons it seems that Babs thinks he brings more as well.

I think the Preds must be handing these out at the game tonight. Kinda funny. That being said I hope the Wings spank them.

If you notice the various responses from multiple posters it seems that it was universally taken that way (also as evidenced by the -8 on the comment). If I was mistaken I apologize. That was the topic of the thread and and it seemed that you were saying you were fine with the actions being denounced by the OP.
