I'm guessing it was just an oversight on frank's part. -
New Ultra-Enhanced Video/Renderings of the Arena District
roboturner replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
That is one hell of a false dichotomy... Anyway, I wish they could keep it. They could use it for other hockey games (i.e. college, high school, pee-wee, ect). They could turn it into a sort of Red Wings museum with memorabilia and you could go look in the locker room and see where Yzerman, Feds, Pavel, ect sat and got ready for games. I would love to be able to go to Olympia today and see where all the great Wings of old played and a bunch of old wooden sticks with no curve on them, old Wings jerseys with the smaller logo on the front. That would be awesome. I know most of you are Lions fans, but being in the UP I'm a Packers fan. And one of the greatest things about going to a home Packers game is getting to be at the legendary Lambeau Field; the same field where players like Reggie White and Ray Nitschke played, Bart Starr won the Ice Bowl on the quarterback sneak, where Brett Favre and now Aaron Rodgers have become some of the best quarterbacks to have played the game. And that field will be there for future generations of players and fans to come and enjoy the history that it offers. Even the Old City Stadium that they played at before moving to Lambeau is still in use. It's just cool that these places still exist and get used. -
When I read the title of this thread I thought it was going to be a different kind of, ahem.....transition. He was doing all that fashion stuff for a while (not that I have a problem with either of those things, I don't) it's just what popped in my head

So when is the parade?

Nobody would have an issue if this happened. But two years ago we all knew there was no way Cleary was coming back because he was clearly deteriorating. -He ended up with the Wings Then last year we all knew there was absolutely no way he would be back after a god awful season the year before when he shouldn't have been brought back the first time. -But he STILL ended with the Wings. Now for the 3rd year we all know there is absolutely no doubt about the fact the he should be gone once and for all. -I'm not holding out any hope for the 'right' decision to be made

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
roboturner replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well, its official now...I can do a quick William Lane Craig impression. Premise 1: An omnipotent, benevolent god would not let the Blackhawks win 3 Cups in 6 years. Premise 2: The Blackhawks won 3 Cups in 6 years: Premise 3: An omnipotent, benevolent god does not exist. JUST FOLLOW THE PREMISES!!! -
Its all right, let em go through waivers. We can always trade a first round pick to get them back á la Kyle Quincey

You know you don't have to choose one or the other, right? You could/should have angst for both.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
roboturner replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
It's a different situation this time around. In 08 he was still with the team he played for and was adored for. He didn't want to distract from the players that were still playing and won it. And he wasn't the GM. Now he's with a different franchise and this is a team he's been assembling for years. I'd guess he'd like to celebrate like any other GM would. -
Can you photoshop that into an existing picture of the currently retired numbers? I think it could be helpful to have a visual as to what's being asked for and whether or not it 'fits in' with the rest of them. Actually that would be useful for the rest of the 'debatables' as well.
-
I would say no to all of those except Datsyuk (possibly). Dats is a special player. I don't remember much of Feds playing. I know he was good, but I'm curious as to how he compares to Pavel.
-
I don't really mind if they get moved to the east and the wings go back to the west. I kinda liked staying up late to watch the wings. Though the team hasn't been as good lately and might get manhandled in the west.

Well your post made it sound like it was only Hawks fans being crybabies about it. And again that wasn't the case.... You're first post claimed 'obviously its only box seats' which I showed you was not an accurate statement because we have the story of the Army Captain (who is not a Hawks fan but a Lightning season ticket holder). Add in the season tickets behind his that were also moved due to this policy. Neither of those tickets were box seats or seats in any of the restricted sections. And yet they were getting harassed due to this policy all the same. You also claimed this was just 'manufactured angst' of Hawks fans. But this policy has been in place even before they were playing the Hawks and has affected the other 3 fan bases, as well as their own season ticket holders. It very clearly isn't just Hawks fans' persecution complex. There are more than just the Hawks fans that you listen to that are upset about this policy. I'm sorry you have to listen to the Hawks fans complain about it, but both your statements were misleading at best and flat out false at worst.
-
And none of this explains why or what happened to the Army Captain. Do I have to quote it again and bold everything for you so that you can understand that none of this article applies to him? So to recap, his seats were NOT in the 'restricted' sections mentioned. He first tried to sell on StubHub when they then threatened to take his account away. The account behind his seats DID loose their seats, and again they are not in any of the 'restricted' sections mentioned. But you're right, wouldn't want to let facts get in the way here...
-
IF it turns out to be a two way deal, well so be it. But you know its gonna be one way, league minimum, 1.5 million dollar signing bonus and a NMC
-
This is almost all wrong. Did you not read the article about the Army Captain season ticket holder who they have been harassing? About who and where he can sell his tickets. About how he would only be allowed to pick them up himself at the ticket office? About how they were threatening to move his seats somewhere else or not let him have them at all? And by the way, this has been their policy since the fist round of the playoffs, it isn't just hawks fans 'manufacturing angst'

I'd rather have two younger guys rotating in and out than having cleary taking up a spot. Just ask yourself, "Are there any other teams signing worthless players just to take up a roster spot and 'mentor' the younger guys?" If the answer is no, then why are we doing it? and why is cleary the only player to get this kind of (undeserved) treatment?

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
roboturner replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
sure looks to be a lot of red jerseys in the lower bowl... -
And everything indicates that this is due to the Lightning's sales/marketing/business people. Not the GM of the team.
-
What the hell is wrong with them?? No wonder they can't fill their own arena, they treat their own season ticket owners like s***. And I don't care for all the faux patriotic bulls*** that pro sports teams do (I just read about how the government uses tax dollars to pay for all those reunions and whatnot), but I know I'm in the extreme minority there and treating an Army captain like this because he can't make it to the game do to work is a sure fire way to piss people off.

ECF : Tampa Bay Former Rangers vs. New York New Rangers
roboturner replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Well, despite losing to them in the 1st round (in game 7 no less) I'm over it by now and I'm still kinda rooting for the Lightning as a second team. Yzerman connection and what not (among other things)... -
Wow, Nyquist is starting to runaway with it. He was down a few times this morning but is now up by 21,000 votes with ~20 hours left
-
He has to get moved at some point. Maybe not next season, but you can't have a $5 million cap hit for your backup goalie.
