I think it has more to due with watching Howard for the whole of his now 7 years as a starter, knowing this is pretty much what you're going to get from him, and then watching Mrazek get called up last year and 1) slide into the backup role 2) Play well enough to make it a 1A/1B situation 3) Win the starting job for the playoffs and now 4) Playing slightly better than Howard and giving the team a slightly better chance at winning. Add in that this is his first full year in the league and well....(I mean Howard did the same thing to Osgood. First full year in the league was backing up Ozzy, but halfway through the season he had become the number 1. The only difference is Ozzy was clearly at the end of his career, whereas Howard is not.) If you had two pitchers that were both pretty good (like either one would be the ace of the pitching staff if they were on different teams), you're still going to want to start the one who is slightly better (or at least playing slightly better at the time). It doesn't matter how much better Slightly better is still better, and the one who's better should be given preference. Mrazek is slightly better. That's all there is to it.

Actually yeah, I think coming in to a thread just to state how you think the thread shouldn't exist is against the rules. I would try to find it but I can't find the goddamn rules anywhere. Anyway there is a reason to keep discussion open. Things change. I've changed my position on Howard since last season. Other poster have changed or modified their positions. Where else would you post them but in the thread dedicated to the topic. And no, goaltending has not been our problem this season. That doesn't mean there's no reason to discus who you'd like to gets more starts, how many starts, goaltending stats, whether or not X goalie lost or won last night (and maybe more importantly the manner in which they did so), how the team played in front of goalie X, ect....

And yet you're still in here..... Shut It Down Guys! e_prime doesn't think it should continue to be discussed! Might as well lock the rest of the threads too. At least until e_prime determines the continued worthiness, merit, and quality of the discussion and only then gives us the stamp of approval to add our lowly thoughts to the topic!

I'll never understand why people come into topics they don't want to talk about. Like because you don't want to discuss it, then nobody should be discuss it? Are people's family being held hostage by a maniac who will kill them unless they read and post in every thread on a specific team's fan run discussion forum? Their number pretty similar right now, though Petr has a slight edge in Wins, SV%, and GA average. But Petr has better athleticism, he's better going side-to-side, he's a better puck handler (though he hasn't been doing it as much lately, and Howard has improved some), and frankly he's just more mentally tough than Jimmy. But yeah, I guess they are "pretty even"....

I don't understand why this is a thing? Nobody has a problem when people point out Ericsson's terrible play. Nobody has a problem when people point out Kindl's terrible play. Nobody has a problem when people point out Helm's terrible hands. They've had good games and bad games, but nobody has a problem when people suggest these players be used differently or even off the team entirely. When these things do happen, nobody goes around bemoaning the "Ericsson Hate Brigade" or the "Kindl Hate Brigade" or the "Helm Hate Brigade". But my god, Howard has a bad game or does something stupid and your first reaction "Oh MY gOD I MuST DEFeNd HIm FroM teh HatE SquADS!!!!11"

I think Mrazek is the only one with a BPG this season to be honest! Anyway the way Howie played the first goal was idiotic. Not going to fault him for the Tootoo tip, but it seemed he just totally lost his confidence after that. A professional goaltender (or any athlete for that matter) with long running confidence issues is not a winning mix.
