Every game starts this way. I don't think we've played well in the first period all year long. Long as Atlanta doesn't go up 3-0 or something, I won't worry about this game until the final ten minutes.

Channelsurfing is down as well. Are there any Atlanta based feeds? I've been googling but I'm coming up dry.

Working stream?

Forwards Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh 118,755 Alex Ovechkin Washington 80,169 Jonathan Toews Chicago 79,953 Steven Stamkos Tampa Bay 78,833 Patrick Kane Chicago 63,969 Mike Richards Philadelphia 59,808 Pavel Datsyuk Detroit 59,372 Marian Hossa Chicago 57,324 Michael Cammalleri Montreal 56,569 Evgeni Malkin Pittsburgh 56,255 Defensemen Duncan Keith Chicago 82,968 Nicklas Lidstrom Detroit 80,723 Chris Pronger Philadelphia 78,003 Drew Doughty Los Angeles 63,999 Kimmo Timonen Philadelphia 61,951 Mike Green Washington 56,104 Brent Seabrook Chicago 54,419 *Kris Letang Pittsburgh 50,153 *P.K. Subban Montreal 41,268 Zdeno Chara Boston 41,081 Brian Rafalski Detroit 40,901 *Carey Price Montreal 71,199 *Sergei Bobrovsky Philadelphia 58,101 Tim Thomas Boston 47,646 Jaroslav Halak St. Louis 47,483 Marc-Andre Fleury Pittsburgh 44,111 Ryan Miller Buffalo 39,764 *Jimmy Howard Detroit 31,537 *Denotes write-in. Unfortunately Crosby is at the top, and Toews is somehow above Stamkos. Lidstrom is second overall for defense-man. Keith barely edging him out, but I kind of agree that Lidstrom/Keith would be interesting to see if only for one game. Of note is that Howard has 31,000 write in votes. It should also be noted, 118,754 of the votes for Crosby, came from a 14 year old boy in a Philadelphia basement. The other vote came from Crosby himself (I have this on good authority, don't question me!!)

I'm surprised so many people are giving Howie the credit. Realistically if you look at his performance since his "Big start" last years 4th quarter of the season, he has been amazingly consistent for us. I haven't looked up the stats, but I bet he's the most winning-est goalie since the Olympic Break of last year. Howard is, IMO, the best goalie we've had. I'm not disrespecting Osgood or Hasek, or even Vernon for that matter, all great during their time, and all great for the Wings organization. It's far too soon to accurately make a comparison though. Osgood won us a cup his first year as starter (And of course 2008). Hasek won us a cup on his way out the door. Both brilliant possible HOFers. Is Howard THAT good? Only time will tell us if he is consistent year after year, but for "right now" based on his play since the Olympic Break, I am more comfortable with Howard in net than I have ever been with anyone in net in Detroit.

I was giving the All-Star game some thought. For guys like Ovechkin and Crosby, barring injury, they pretty much HAVE to play in the All-Star game. They're public icons in the NHL world, and their fans would be outraged. Keeping in mind most Washington or Pittsburgh fans have been watching hockey for only 2-3 years. However, if someone like Lidstrom declined an invite, I don't think most people would be angry. I sure as hell wouldn't. I wouldn't be angry if any Red Wing declined an invitation. That's two days off. Best case if you go to the AS game, you maybe score a goal or two...and it changes absolutely nothing. Every year things in the league change after the All-Star break (Or the Olympic break, though more drastically, heh), and I think after having watched hockey for more than 15 years the All-Star game is really...***. The format sucks. Even though the team picking format is better than the former formats, it still loses any real value to a long time hockey fan. I don't root one way or the other. I'm not so immature of a hockey fan to root for individual players (See wikipedia for Crosby Man Love). The only part of the weekend I really enjoy is the skills competition, and even then usually just because I'm going through withdrawal from watching real games Where do you stand on this? I was prompted to think about this because I was perusing hockey videos, and caught a youtube comment debate about Crosby being the best player in the world, and someone commenting "I can't wait until Crosby gets a hat trick at the All-Star game!" To which I just thought....why.....who cares. Who cares if he scores 10 goals. It doesn't change his teams standings.

For his 5 vs 5 play, Modano is doing fairly well for a 3rd line role. He's stunk it up a little on the PP in my opinion, but 5 on 5 he's been a solid 3rd liner. I think Babcock likes the intangibles he brings to the team. Scoring or not, there is no doubt that Modano is a mentor to our young 3rd and 4th lines (especially). It's hard to bench the most experienced forward on the team. For his price, and a year of unseen intangibles, Modano is right about where he should be. A little more PP production, and the rest would be gravy.

If the first quarter season is any indication, I'd be happy to trade Hudler for a solid prospect. On some teams I think Hudler can/will still be a solid 40-50 point guy. Potentially 60+ on the right lines, with the right work ethic. If only the trade world was as easy as in baseball cards. Just trade for a month, see if you like it, if not, trade back lol.

I just got hungry.

If you add this to the original curse, it means Detroit will play Washington in the final this year, and go on to win the cup.

Ovechkin, Kovalchuk heard laughing after Caps' blowout loss
truebladearmy replied to toby91_ca's topic in General
Isn't it suppose to be a "Game"? Would you rather your leading scorer be depressed and slump out for a few games, or laugh off a few losses and get back to work? I don't see anything wrong with laughing about the game afterward. Perhaps out of earshot of the media is wiser, but the act itself doesn't bother me. If this was Detroit with someone else, you know a hundred people would come flying to defend it, "Oh they're long time friends." "Oh, better to laugh about a loss than cry about it!" "Oh what classiness Detroit has, that they can laugh it off like that!" It's all perspective. Contrary to popular beliefs, some Hockey Players do have fun. I bet you won't see Crosby laughing after a loss. -
Awesome, too bad it's not at the Joe. The Atmosphere of the Joe is just fun for me. I recommend getting their early, so you can get your drink on in advance. I don't know how the fans are in Atlanta, but I've been to four other arena's, and wearing a Wings Jersey always causes at least a little friction. I still do it every time I go to a game out of state though

I meant Pennsylvania. I was still half asleep

If you were a Calgary fan, statistics don't exactly go in your favor It's easier to blame the referee's blindly. Wings are always: In the Refs pockets Too Old Out of gas A dirty team Boring style of Hockey Aliens Hyped up on Dope Dragons, who have assumed the shape of humans, to win the Cup and return it to their dragon lairs. If I was a dick version of Babcock, in my press conference I would say, "Well, we don't really turn it onto until the last 5 minutes. That's all we need to play. 5 Minutes. We find it only fair that we let our opposition run the show for the first 45-55 minutes. Ya know. So they have a chance." It would totally be a Mohammad Ali move of the new era But yeah, on topic, the Refs have seemed a little in our favor lately. I don't want to admit it any more than the next guy, but *shrug* I've always conspired that the Ref's have secret meetings before games, to decide which way to call it. But then you end up with situations where the winning team pisses off the other team, the other team gets chippy, and often they just bring it on themselves. I don't "honestly" believe there is a conspiracy. From my experience just playing recreational, where the Referee's are just volunteers, it tends to go that way in any hockey game. Reffing can have an influence in the outcome of the game/series. However, a lot of times Referee's are in a bind. They can't call EVERYTHING. They're suppose to call relatively evenly. But some things MUST be called. The fact that the Wings had 4 PP's in the first, was a bit heavy in Detroit's favor, but the third period was called relatively well. That said, it looks bad, but Detroit has made like.....every team get frustrated and chippy in the third period. Is it the Ref's fault that they called 4-0 Wings favor in the first? Yeah. I say it is. But it's Calgary's fault they pulled what they pulled in the third. I will give Calgary fans this: The initial 1st period penalty flurry was a bit odd. It could have cost Calgary the game easily. It did not, however. Most of the third period penalties were pretty genuine, however. And Calgary did that to themselves.

A flames fan said: "Let them go you effing zebras. Holy christ, hide behind your zebras Red Wings, pansies." I laughed a lot. Kinda did seem the game was a little poorly refereed in our favor though. I'm glad we got the win, but damn total penalties was like 10-5 at the end of the game. If it had gone in reverse, I'd be about as mad as some of the guys on the Flames boards.

Yeah I just read the last ten pages of their GDT, and 90% of it is flat out Ref bashing, and seething hatred for the Red Wings. It makes me feel warm inside. Quotes like these: "My hatred for detroit worsens. I really REALLY bloody hate that team. " "This is beyond ridiculous. The NHL should seriously just issue a notice that any visiting teams in Detroit must play one man short at all times. " "Got 1 point against the cheapest team in the league." When people s*** talk it doesn't make me mad. It's the funniest part of any post game experience

Aww I liked his original one better. It's good to see that special ed kids are being introduced to computers these days.

My feed starting spazzing the last 10 minutes of the game, and the OT. Thank god for highlight reels. What a finish. EUROTWINS!!!!

Slow GDT = Better online Streams. It benefits those of us watching it online

At least Fritters is still fun to watch

Not liking this one. Down 3-1, and two potential injuries already. Yep, outside the first 3 minutes of the game, I was wrong. This line changing stuff is not working. Hudler has been unimpressive yet again. Nothing short of a hat-trick from Hudler tonight will make me believe he serves any purpose on this team. It's too bad. I like the guy. But not only has he sucked for us, but he's making the people he plays with suck.

It just dawned on me that Hockey is really just a very complicated game of "Keep-a-Way".

It's good that kronwall shoots more, but damn he fans a lot.

http://www.channelsurfing.net/watch-nhl.html It's a good feed. Hasn't lagged once, but the volume is low. Best free feed I've seen in a long time right now (Probably because it's an earlier game on a Sunday).
