I think Staal resigns, didn't say it was ideal. He knows the system, the players and coaching staff. Also signaled he would be willing to come back. If he's not resigned than I can see the need for 1Vet,just not an overpaid one. Hronek, that's why I said Vet Lite. He's played 167 NHL games. DeKyser I fully agree on. He should be gone after next season, although with his health I don't see him making a full 82 game season. Stetcher /Cholowski/Lindstrom. This depends on the expansion draft. I would hate to lose Lindstrom. I think he can be decent defensive defenceman on the 3rd line.

I agree to a point. But I believe you can evaluate and develop young D-men with other young D-men. I would try to keep it 2,3 at the most. Currently we have Vet Lite Hronek, Vets DeKyser, and Stetcher and I think Stall stays for 1 to 2 years. With Seider coming up the season that leaves 1 roster spot for Lindstom, Cholowski and possibly McIssac. The idea of having vets as mentors is ok, but when is to many, to many.

I see a 2, possibly 3 yr window of bringing in the young players. I want to see Choloski, Lindstrom, Smith, Svetchnikov, McIssac, and others given a shot to prove if they can make it, or move on. I don't feel the need to bring in older, over paid vets.

The last 3 games the effort was there. The 1st few games not so much. Not only the power play, but 5 on 5 scoring is terrible. They are getting chances, but cannot finish.

Nametstnikov's finishing issues are when he looks up, his support has disappeared or has stopped skating.

I would like to see Lindstrom given a fair chance as a RHD. I liked what I saw in his limited time with Detroit. If he can develope a steady defensive game as a 3rd pair, it's win.

I think Svechnikov may only be an Admin. move. He was injured and missed a lot of training camp, further hurting his development. He needs to clear waivers to go to GR and Steve may want him in GR to 1st heal and then get some meaningful games in GR.

Zadina may well be a 1st line winger. He has improved every year so far, but he would need to bump Mantha down. Possible, but not likely as Mantha has shown flashes of being a top 10-15 range power forward. So, a tough road ahead. Understood about 3 scrimmages. I want to see Fabbri, Nametsikov and Zadina together for 10-15 games. That will give them time to gel together and give us a good idea of how good they can be. I think Brome has earned a 3rd line roll. He looks to be able to play 2nd line if needed.

I think you have to have 1 Goalie on the taxi squad.

Other centers in the NHL. What I'm saying about Zadina is he will be a real good #2 line forward that can fill in on the top line if needed. Also I see a place for him on the 2nd PP unit. And after watching the Red/White game tonight, his stock went up. I thought he played real well. Zadina, Nametsnikov and Fabbri played real good. I can see a second line capable of consistant scoring.

Who say's people a lot smarter than me or you? They have their opinions like anyone else. But when you belittle people for their opinion makes you the biggest dummy on the board. The average I use is other centers. I stand by my opinion that Larkin is not a #1C. As to Zadina, I never said he was a bust, only he is not a #1 line forward.

I don't listen to dummies. I can form my own opinions. Larkin is not a #1C. I never thought he would be. But I think he can be a very good #2C. As for an explaination, His hockey IQ is only above avg. His passing skills are only above avg. His skating is well above avg.

The point is, is Larkin is NOT a #1C. He is a real good #2C. The only reason he is #1 in Detroit is we have no one better,

We do not need another #1C or #2C of Larkins ability. We need a true #1C and Larkin can go to #2C where he belongs.

1. Detroit finishes 27th overall ahead of Chicago and falls to Florida by 1pt. Jeff Blashill gets a new 3 yr contract. 2. Bobby Ryan has an exceptional year w/19g and 28a. Gets resigned by Detroit $4.5 x 2yr. 3. Anthony Mantha stays healthy all year.

The problem, as much as we all think all these players are going to get us to a cup, none are great franchise level players. We have good to very good amongst those mentioned, none are great. It's too early to tell for Seider and Raymond. So we still need 1 Top pair D, 1 #1 C and #1 W, and a #1 G. Not going to say we can't get close with what we have, it's just unlikely.

I feel Cholowski is on his last shot. He needs to grab the bull by the horns and take his spot in the lineup. With his lack of defensive awareness, I don't see it happening. 3

It's going to be an interesting season for sure. Will the Wings be better. Yes. How much we don't know, and that's the exciting part. The discusions will be interesting between the subtractions or the additions bring the most influential. I'm looking forward to this discusion. Even with the subtractions and additions we will most likely finish 31st, maybe 30th at best. If they finish any better than that, Blashill gets a contract extension.

I think you are probably close for the most part. Zadina will be 2nd line for most of the time. Fabbri, Svetchnikov, an Ryan will bounce between 2nd and 3rd lines. Nemeth , Stetcher, Stall, ,Merrill and Biega will bounce around the bottom 5 D for most of the season. If injuries here I think Lindstrom gets 1st call up. Not too sure of Brome on the taxi squad as I don't believe he has any NA experiance. But who else? DROP THE PUCK!!!!
