No, not at all. The Redwings always have late round picks, sometimes not any in the first couple of rounds. Generally speaking these players are not NHL ready when they are drafted. Not one of these young redwings like Helm, Abdelkader, Ericcson were NHL ready when they got drafted. Especially Ericsson since he didn't become a defenseman until the year he was drafted. NHL ready players are usually drafted in the top ten picks in the first round, maybe first 15. It also depends on the player. If management and coaches think a player is ready he will be playin in the NHL. Unless of course you don't have salary room like the RedWings.

It is absolutely ridiculous that Walker didn't get suspended for the sucker punch he gave Ward. Not only did Ward have his gloves on the whole time, but Walker was also the third man in on the scrum. I agree with Barry Melrose in the fact that this was worse than what Brashear did and he got 5 games. It is also a disgrace that Kunitz didnt get suspended for his cross check on Varlamov a few games a go. Sean Avery gets suspended just for saying sloppy seconds but according to the NHL it is ok to goon it up on the ice. The argument that if the player doesn't get hurt there is no need for a suspension is the dumbest thing ever. In this case Ward could be out a while with a fractured orbital bone anyway. Colin Cambell and Gary Bettman are possibly the worst two men for their respective jobs. They aren't consistent on anything. Is the NHL ever going to get it right with these kinds of incidents? http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009/news?id=4158572 BTW, i dont condone what Avery did just saying that these incidents are worse.

Ten games might be too much, but generally when two guys fight they give each other a chance to get ready. Only dirty pieces of crap like Scott Walker would hit someone before their ready. That is part of the code of fighting in the NHL. Its just like when Crosby suckered Mclean off the face off in a game against Florida.

Lets finish em off! Lets Go Red Wings!

That's a good point as well, but hopefully none of this matters and neither one of them will be in the lineup in game 6 in favor of Rafalski.

Actually I think you can. Chelios is one of only two players that are a minus for the playoffs (other is maltby). He simply CANNOT play anymore. This is evident on a few goals in this series that can be credited to his lack of playing ability. Meech isn't much of an uprgade, maybe not at all, but at least he can skate and knows how to make a line change. Several times this year we have gotten burned by a bad line change by cheli.

That's a pretty damn good lineup!

No I got a better one. referring to goalie interference: "Detroit, somewhat to their credit picked up on this a long time ago , and thus have a big part of their success built upon their ability to interfere with goalies, and not get called for it. " I understand fans of the losing teams usually complain about the refs. I know, I do it sometimes. (I try not to). But this post from the ducks forum is just moronic. Obviously this guy doesn't see the redwings that often, especially in the finals last year. ( ex. Holmstrom's ass in the crease no goal)

The Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk was named on Wednesday as a finalist for the Lester B. Pearson Award, given to the "most outstanding player in the NHL'' as voted by fellow members of the NHL Players Association. Alex Ovechkin of Washington and Evgeni Malkin of Pittsburgh are the other two finalists. The same three were the finalists for the Hart Trophy as league MVP. Here's a portion of the press release from the NHLPA: "For the first time in the history of the Lester B. Pearson Award, all three finalists hail from Russia. This year will mark just the third time that a Russian player will accept the honour, following Sergei Fedorov (1993-94) and Ovechkin (2007-08). Ovechkin is looking to win the Pearson Award for the second consecutive season, and is now a three-time finalist for the award (including 2005-06). Malkin is also a finalist for the Pearson Award for the second consecutive season. Datsyuk is a Pearson Award finalist for the first time in his NHL career. Datsyuk had an outstanding all-around season for the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings, tying his personal best in points (97) and is a finalist for three other major individual honors in 2008-09: the Hart Memorial Trophy, the Frank J. Selke Trophy, and the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. Malkin was instrumental in helping lead the Penguins back to the postseason, while topping all NHL scorers with 113 points this season, and will receive the Art Ross Trophy for this achievement. Ovechkin had another phenomenal season in Washington, finishing second in the league in points (110) and leading the NHL in goals (56) to capture the Maurice Richard Trophy.'' In addition to Fedorov, the only other Red Wing to win this award since its inception in 1970-71 was Steve Yzerman in 1988-89. I believe he has a lot better shot at winning this than the hart because this is voted by the NHLPA.

Are you really even a Wings fan? All you do is complain about how they suck and they're going to lose every game! Sounds like a bandwagoner to me.
-
Excuse me for being an optimist, but both losses were 1 goal games and the Wings have pretty much sucked for the majority of the games. If they play with a little more passion they can get it done with these players. Not saying it will be easy, but it can be done.

Ya im over the last game now, and i firmly believe the redwings will win the next three games. I expect them to play out of their minds cuz their so pissed off. I know when i played mad i played so much better.

Ya the Wings sucked for most of the game, but they stil scored!! I hate the refs. I'm so pissed I can't go to sleep. Looks like an all nighter eventhough i have to work at 6:30

I Don't normally blame the refs for losing a game. BUT THIS IS ABSOLUTE HORSEs***. These refs should both be fired. God, I'm so ******* irate right now. Also, f*** the NHL for not making this a reviewable play

So Kyle Quincey was interviewed on the Free Beer and Hot Wings show on WGRD (Grand Rapids) this morning. Apparently Kenny H did have a deal done with Dallas to trade Quincey there. He didn't pass his physical because of his bad back so the deal was null. Just thought I would share this for the people who didn't think Holland tried hard enough to get something in return for him. Also, for those of you that listen to the show but missed it. They talked about how they mocked Zane about his "Love affair" with Quincey during the Griffs game yesterday on the jumbotron.

Great way to sum it up. I agree.

Wow. People want Mike Brown's head for what he did, but then some people on here encourage what Downey did. I totally thought Brown's hit was a cheap shot, but so was this. Ya maybe his momentum brought him towards the crease, but he definetly stuck his elbow up. I lost a lot of respect for Downey.

Yes hockey is a rough game. Yes Hudler should have had is head up. With that in mind it is still a dirty hit when you pummel a guy in the face with your fists and stick, especially when it is a late hit. Anyone who doesn't think that was a dirty hit is a complete moron.
