Just from looking at his stats from this year he looks like he could be a promising defenseman for the Wings in the future. He has a big frame at 6'3 208lbs but redwingscentral says that he could be a little more physical. Here is Jim Nill's take on him; "He has good size, he skates well, he moves the puck well, and we liked his overall game. We think he's a 4-to-6 guy and we'll see, maybe he'll surprise us. We think he has a chance to play." Has anyone seen him play in Grand Rapids, Barrie, or Kingston? His brother, Matt, has seemed to have found early success in the NHL maybe Brian will do the same. His salary last year was $710,000, his cap hit was $850,000 because of bonuses. So then the minimum he could make is $745,500.(5% increase). Now I'm not sure if it is calculated with the bonuses included or not, but I figured I'd just throw it out there.

I think you are underestimating John Madden. Madden has 3 cups and a selke to boot. While he may have slowed down a bit, he still is probably one of the top 10-15 defensive forwards in the game.

He is a RFA. He hasn't signed an extension with the Blues yet.

Just got back from the Florida College Classic. Maine won the tourny beating #3 Colorado College. Nyquist made the all tournament team with 1g and 4a. He looked great! He was all over the puck. Played great defensively too. He backchecked hard and had some good takeaways. Made some great passes that resulted in assists. Ohh forgot... He now has 30 pts in 19gp. That puts him tied for 1st in the nation in pts.
