    Kotalik to the Rangers!

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=284213 All it says is $3 mil contract. It is a little misleading

    Boynton signs with Anaheim

I believe Giguere has a NTC, and LA is a good area for treatment for his son.

    Ales Kotalik

Well, since Hudler looks like he might be gone, I was lookin over the FA list and came upon Ales Kotalik. I don't know much about him seeing he has played most of his career in Buffalo. I do know that he made 2.5 mil last year and could potentially replace Hudler. From lookin over his stats, he probably coud manage 20-25 goals with the wings. He is 6'1 227 and he is a right handed shot. What do you guys think? Is there anyone that knows more about him?
  4. Ya I think I have to agree with you. Even without Hudler I think we are just as deep as Calgary (actually quite deeper on offense) and I think they could be a legitimate contender if Kiprusoff returns to old form. Obviously our top six must pick up some of the slack, but I believe if we can sure up our defense we will be fine. (Osgood/Howard must be strong too)

    Wings Defensive Future?

Ya I was just sort of thinking off the top of my head. You could replace him with Pyett. (Only if he has a drastic improvement over last year in GR). Nicastro more like 6-7 years. EDIT: BTW, I'm pretty excited Nicastro is going to BU in a year. That can only help his development.

    Chris Pronger traded to Philly

A GM's overall goal isn't to please fans. It is to build championship teams. Holland does a pretty good job of that. BTW, as a fan I am pretty pleased by the four Stanley Cups I have witnessed in my lifetime.

    Kopecky signs with the Blackhawks

I thought this would give you guys a laugh. (quote from hawks fan on ESPN forum). "But on a side note everyone is buzzing about Hossa when there failing to mention Tomas Kopecky who I think is a fanatstic player and has alot of skill and leadership to help my HAWKS out so I am pretty stoked about him.. "

    Hossa courted by the Hawks

I have to apologize to pens fans for gettin on them about hating hossa. Hossa is a fricken snake! Yes, he didn't owe DET or PIT anything, but the fact that he has left twice for a rival is disgusting. I can't wait until next summer when Chicago is f***ed! (If the deal is long term. )

Report: Hossa turns down Wings' offer

Ya they might be able to afford him this year, but they are screwing the future of this team. Barker and Versteeg still need to be signed this year. Kane, Toews, Keith next year.

Team USA Invites: Camp in August

Ya, you know the all-time points leader among American born players. You can't just throw a bunch of young inexperienced guys out there. They need someone (Modano) that can provide veteran leadership. Someone that has played at the grand stage of the olympics before.

    Nobody Wants Heatley

To be fair to Murray, it was Heatley who requested the trade, but i guess it is Murrary's fault for signing him to such a huge contract.

    Wings won't bring Conklin back

Philadelphia & Boston could be real possibilities for him next year. He could go in Philly to compete for the starting job against Emery or he could go backup Thomas in Boston.

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

Wow! I can't believe all of the Franzen bashing on here. I hope you folks bashing him don't celebrate when he scores goals because that would just be hypocritical seeing that some of you hate him so much. (For the record I don't think he is a PF either, but he still is a great player even if he is a diver)

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

Here is a description of a power forward from wikipedia (I realize it is wikipedia, but it seems like a good description). It list players who are PF's as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_forward_(ice_hockey) In ice hockey, a power forward is a forward who possesses above average offensive skills and plays a tough, physical game. Most of the time, power forwards are physically large, but some players are referred to as power forwards despite being no more than six feet (183 cm) tall. Power forwards tend to be proficient stickhandlers and skaters who shoot the puck well and, at the same time, are capable of delivering crushing body checks and may also fight occasionally. Many power forwards plant their bodies in front of the opposing team's net and use their large frames to screen the goaltender. Power forwards also tend to be very difficult to knock off possession of the puck, hence their ability to "power through" opposing defenders. Power forwards are desirable because of their well-rounded skill set and physical play. Smaller skilled forwards, who are talented offensively but lack the strength of power forwards, are defended against differently because they can be pushed around, knocked off the puck, or are more susceptible to intimidation. Power forwards do not tend to have any of those liabilities. However, small forwards are typically faster and more agile than the big power forwards.

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

I assume you don't like Franzen considering you're doing a good job of bashing him.

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

I wasn't sure if you thought he was or not when you said that if Nash is Cleary and Franzen are as well. So you think they all are?

Are Power Forwards a dying breed?

Rick Nash doesn't fit that description? I think he does.
