  1. Perhaps, but then he should've 'roughed' it by saying $900k. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just saying he can't make less than $892,500 next year based on the qualifying offer he already had to have received in order to stay a Red Wing RFA.

    _____________________________________________________

Simple FYI for those that are interested in our unsigned RFA's:

Restricted Free Agents: A player set to become a restricted free agent will become an unrestricted free agent if his current team does not make him a qualifying offer that adheres to the minimum raise policy of the CBA. The deadline to qualify all RFA's is June 29

    * Qualifying Offers: A qualifying offer must include the following minimum raises:

    o Previous salary < $660,000: 10% increase in salary

    o Previous salary < $1,000,000: 5% increase in salary

    o Previous salary > $1,000,000: Match previous season's salary

His salary last year was $710,000, his cap hit was $850,000 because of bonuses. So then the minimum he could make is $745,500.(5% increase). Now I'm not sure if it is calculated with the bonuses included or not, but I figured I'd just throw it out there.

  2. Did they trade for his rights or something?

I was thinking the same thing. If they don't own his rights the can't talk to him until July 1. I haven't heard anything about them acquiring his rights, so to me it looks like this article is bogus.

Edit: Sorry, didn't read the whole article. Looks like they must have acquired his rights.

  3. Didn't Max Talbot have shoulder surgery in the offseason last year to repair a torn labrum that kept him out several months?(Had both goals in Game 7 for the Pens last year) Just Sayin...

  4. s*** look at NHL.com. They have a poll asking which team will sin the Cup. Detroit name isn't even in there, along with the Habs. All other 6 teams are! Disrespect is an understatement.

Ya I was wonderin why they weren't on there either, but then I realized the Caps weren't on there either. It must have been a poll before last night's game and only included the teams that already advanced.

  5. Rask has a better save percentage, a better GAA and more shutouts than Howie.

If Rask plays the majority of Boston's games (instead of TT) and keeps up the same numbers, I think he will (and should) get the Calder

While Rask might have slightly better numbers, Howard's body of work is much more impressive. 18 of Howie's 30 wins are against playoff teams. Where as Rask, only 5 of his 18 wins are against playoff teams.

    Rask:

  6. Just got back from the Florida College Classic. Maine won the tourny beating #3 Colorado College. Nyquist made the all tournament team with 1g and 4a. He looked great! He was all over the puck. Played great defensively too. He backchecked hard and had some good takeaways. Made some great passes that resulted in assists.

Ohh forgot... He now has 30 pts in 19gp. That puts him tied for 1st in the nation in pts.
