Anyone else getting pissed that the Wings can't hold leads
Dimaline312000 replied to Dimaline312000's topic in General
I think you're all right about this issue. I think the Wings will make the playoffs but they do need to give Jimmy a break here and there and they all need to start playing at a level high enough throughout the entire game that they don't blow leads and can come back from a deficit. The Wings aren't always going to score first and they are going to have to grinde out some wins here and there whethere it's in Regulation, OT or SO. I know we're only a month into this So-Called season but since the season is so short it just means that wee have to pick it up that much sooner to have a chance at the playoffs and to be successful. -

Shoo: I totally agree with you when the Wings are playing smart and hard they are almost impossible to beat and are one of if not the best team(s) in the League. It's the fact that they start these games out playing so very well and than just bomb it after that, and that just can't keep happening moving forward. The Wings need to learn to play a full 60 Minutes of Hockey all the time. Not that I expect them to win every single game but blowing leads is almost a sure-fire way to lose games. Buppy: Thanks for the correction I knew I had to be close on my numbers but wasn't completley positve. It's good to know that this was the first game that we lost after having a lead but just the fact that we keep letting these leads go no matter whether we win or not is definelty a scary thing. I kow that a lot of our D is young and somewhat inexperienced but I hope this gets resolved soon and the Wings will learn to put together a complete effort throughhout the game(s). -
This Kid has a lot of skill and potential, I can't wait to see what he can do as the season moves on!!

Would you trade Jimmy Howard for an elite forward/defenseman?
Dimaline312000 replied to shoobiedoobin's topic in General
If the deal was right and the timing was right I might let him go but it would depend alot on Gustafsson and Mrazek and how well they've been able to play. I would hate to see Jimmy go but if it was the right move I'd pull the trigger. -
As long as Pavs comes back Kovy and Ovie can stay as long as they want in the KHL.
-
Just get NHL back on TV now. No since in holding anger and hate in my heart for something I have no control over. Go Wings!!
-
I'd play in th SPHL for way less money of course but being and NHL Player I can imagine I'd do very well in that league. Otherwise I would consider coaching a team while still skating and working-out.

Thanks I'll do that I need some work-out advice!!

As many of you may know I play Sled Hockey which is Ice Hockey for disabled people. More specifically people with lower body injuries or deficits, such as Spida Bifida, Scoliosis and other Spinal Cord problems. I'm going into my 4 season on a team named the Grand Rapid Sled Wings. We are in a 5 Team League named the Mid-American Great Lakes Sled Hockey League. We play 5 Tournaments a year each team hosts a tournament from the Months of October through March and our National Disabled Festival is in April. The teams in our league are the Pittsburgh Mighty Penguins (which is a team sponsored by the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins), Ohio United ( a team comprised of a combo of teams from Cincy, Colum, and Cleve.) Fort Wayne/Turnstone Flyers, Michigan Sled Dogs (Fraser, Michigan) and the team I'm on the Grand Rapid Sled Wings. For the past few months this off-season I've decided that I'm going to try to Bulk Up and try to gain some Muscle for my Up-Coming season. I've been working out for 6 years but this summer I've really tried to up my Training and Gain some Muscle Weight and Mass. I've been taking vitamins and supplements to help the cause. Whey Protein, Creating, Glutamine and Branch-Chain Amino Acid. I am one of the few people on my team that can walk and use my lower body as most of my teammates are in a wheelchair. So I have a routine that I go through every week but being that my type of Hockey we use only our upper I've been concentrating on mostly my Upper Body; Arms, Shoulders Chest, Back, and Abs. As I've said that been using some supplements to help me out and I've noticed a few very good differences in using these products and how my preformance has been and I hope that it will translate on the ice this coming season. I try to lift as heavy as I can but due to my heart problems I can only lift a certain amount without causing anymore cardiovascular problems for myself. This thread is to discuss if you play hockey what you do to help get ready for your season so you can play the best you can play. Feel free to share workout-tips or Supplements that you use that have helped you or whatever. What do you do to help yourself get ready for another season of great Hockey action?? Please Share!!

Thanks for all the sharing and kind words, Keep up the sharing I love hearing about it. I will definetly be keeping everyone posted on how things go this season. It is a very fun way to play the sport of hockey and yes it is very intense we have all the same rules as the NHL or any other regular Hockey League the only added rule we have is we can't T-Bone other players. Which basically means we can take the front end of our sleds and crash it into the side of another players sled thus making like a T-Shape we do get a Penalty for that becasue it can severly injure a player. It's great to hear that some of you play or have played the sport of Hockey and enjoyed it. Hopefully more people on here will see this thread and share. Our team is always looking for more players young or old. Our Junior team takes kids as young as 6 and our adult team really doesn't have an age limit, obviously to be on our adult team you need to be 18 but we have phased in a few Juniors that were 16 or 17 that are allowed to play on both our Junior and Adult Teams unless they are on a USA Hockey Sled Team than they must play just on the Adult team. I definetly enjoy working out and trying to stay in shape and being the best I can be for playing hockey but it's not always easy. I don't have much problem staying away from Sugur or Fat it's the Salt that's my down-fall. I work at McDonalds and as we all know that place is like Diet Kryptonite but I'm proud to say I've been working there since November and have not picked up any extra pounds that I haven't shedded off right away. Please keep sharing it's great to hear and discuss what you do as far as playing hockey and getting ready to play hockey!!

I remember Robin Big Snake he played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in Muskegon's last Professional Hockey Season before they went to the USHL (Junior League). He is a great guy and a solid Minor League Player. Not sure where Big Snake is now or if he's even playing anymore but it was always fun watching him play wherever he did!!

This really sucks, I was really looking forward to going to this again as well as the DRWTC. Honestly in the past few years I've personally had more fun watching the Prospects Tournament than the Wings Training Camp. I'm still hopeful there we'll be camp but we'll see. I wonder how they are going to do tickets if they have the camp. I just hope there isn't another NHL Lockout.

I'm definetly not for wasting Cap Space but I really don't want to wait another whole year to get a high profile player to help this team. I want another Stanley Cup and I want it now. We're already stuck with who we've signed this season but if we can make a trade this coming season maybe at the deadline to help us get better and maybe even clear some cap space for the following season than I'd be all for that but I just don't want to see the Wings lose their Repuation as a dominant team and a team that can still Win a Cup!!

This is very disappointing. I agree with bringing up our younger players I've been saying that for the past 3 to 5 years and I think that is a huge step in the right direction and it is fine if don't sign anymore players, however if we aren't in the running to make a big trade to get what we need I think it's a big mistake. If the oppertunity presents it'self to go after a big play via trade than I think we should. We may not need much or anymore help on Offense but our Defense has still taken a big hit and I do believe we need to do something there. I'd love to see Smith come in and be the next Lidstrom but even if he can that may take some time. Yes I'm dissappoited just due to the fact that I really wanted to hear some Big News this Off-Season. I'm over the whole Suter and Parise thing but we still need help on D. It's fine if Holland wants to save money for down the road, I completely agree with that. However I can't say I'm very confident in the success of our team as it sits right now. I love this team and I always will. I don't have 4 Detroit Red Wing Tattos forever on my body only to turn my back on them now however this is another "What the F^*K is Holland thinking" situation imo.
-
I honestly can't see this being our finalized roster right now. We still have so much of the off-season/signing period to go, granted I'm getting nervous over not hearing anything in the past few days but I don't think Holland can think we can go into the season like this. Hopefully something big is coming we still have close to $17 Million in Cap Space and a lot of possible scenario's to go. I just don't see this being all the Wings do up until the season starts. Perhaps I'm wrong but unless Holland has totally flipped his lid (which I'm starting to wonder) he can't think this is a team capable of competeing successfully in the NHL this coming season.

While I definetly believe he is the type of player the Wings want. It just pains me to see the Wings going after older talent. No disrespect to Shane Doan he's a tremendous player and would most likely fit in well here in Detroit and I'd love to see the Wings give him a Cup. I just don't see why we don't start looking more towards younger players even if our younger players aren't ready to take the leap there is still some good young talent out there that I'd love to see what they could do with the Wings. I'm not going to name a bunch of names but there's some out there that would be pretty cool to see in a Wings jersey and see if they could adapt to our style of play and can make the Wings successful. Otherwise I really don't have much of a problem with Shane Doan coming to Detroit.
-
I'd take Ryan or Nash right about now but I'd really take a Defenseman or two over them both.
-
Hopefully a Big Trade is on the Horizon for the Wings, they need a big shake-up and some Defensemen. The worst part for me is playing the waiting game and not hearing anything sice the bad news of Sammy Resigning so I'm really hoping to hear some good news soon.
-
A trade would be good I hear a lot of talk/rumors about the Wings inquiriing about Rick Nash and that would be a good shake-up for the team however our D is what we need to address the most. We have a good Offensive Corps we just need them to get back to the way they were in 08. If we can't, than obviously we should trade someone and get some new blood on the team and add that Hunger that every team needs to make a deep run in the playoffs. I don't want to make any trade proposals and say who I'd trade for what but if we can do something that is reasonable that can help our team I'd be all for it so if we need to make a trade let's do it otherwise let's sign who we need to sign and see what happens.

Where do we go from here? Let's try a youth movement
Dimaline312000 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I do like the idea of a youth movement. However some of the names that I see that some of you wanted to let go I say give them so more time and for Abdelkader, I really don't get why so many people hate him but he does do a good job physically and would be great on a line with Tootoo (New Grinde Line). Emmerton is young and I admit his development hasn't been what was probably hoped for him but this was his first season. Give Emmerton at least one more season on this roster to see if he can become a better player than he is now. Yes we do need to move some players so a few trades here an there would be good and might improve our cap a little bit. With the new CBA coming soon who knows what's gonna happen so anywhere we can save money but not sacrifice quality players would be a good thing. It would be great to see if we can make a big trade and land a good solid D-Man but maybe that's still in the works. It's odd becasue it seems the older I get the more I favor the youthful players but back when I was 15-20 I felt the type of team to have was a veteran team, it seems I'm going backwards, lol but a youth movement might be just what this team needs to get a little spark and get us past the 2nd round for the first time in 3 seasons. We'll just have to see what happens I guess!! -
Yes I definetly think the Detroit diamond has lost it's shine. After failing so many times to land big-nam players whether it be Free Agency or Trades or whatever Wings haven't done anything big since the Hossa signing and we saw what happen that season. Maybe we need to start seeing if we can unload some of our less valuable players to eventually get a better draft position or something like that. Of course the Wings need to start doing more during the season to draw good players in again. I hate to say it but perhaps we are entering another time of a Stanley Cup Drought maybe not necessarily a Dead Wings era but a time where we don't win the Cup for a while. I HATE the thought of that but unless we can start doing something to prove we are still a contender we may not see a bunch of great players in Detroit for a bit. It would be great to do something big and prove me wrong becasue Wings definetly need to get another Cup SOON. As of right now I'm not really likeing our team moving forward maybe we can do something big to pull us out of the gutter quick. I think Ken Holland is a big part of our lack-luster rosters over the past few seasons. I've been saying it for a while that I'm constantly losing confidence in him. We all like to play the so called "Arm-Chair GM" and think we know what's best I've done it a lot I mean I love Be A GM Mode in NHL 12. However as someone said Holland has had years to prepare for Liddy retiring at some point and should have had someone solid lined up and already on the roster. I realize there wasn't anyone that was really going to replace the best defenseman and no I wouldn't have been comfortable in over-paying Parise or Suter either but, Holland favors bringing back old talent that hasn't go the necessary spark anymore to be valuable to the team. He admits he likes his prospects "over-ripe" and at this point that's BS becasue we could bring them up a season sooner and have them deveolping well on our NHL roster and giving them a chance to prove they belong. Holland is showing his age and we need to get someone else in here with a younger mind and way of thinking becasue the NHL is growing younger and that may be why we haven't made it past the second round of the playoffs in 3 seasons becasue we don't have a spark on the team to help make us Champions again.

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild
Dimaline312000 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
It would be a great contract for us if he'd just make up his mind. I know this is a big decision for both of them but I'm really getting tired of this. Suter won't make up his mind until Parise makes up his?? Isn't Suter a big boy can't he make his own decisions. I mean I know they have both been offered big contracts to have them both go to the same team and that would mean a lot for that team but that doesn't mean Suter has to wait for Parise. I know I already said this but I'm really starting to believe Parise is just stalling to keep the spot-light on himself which keeps the spot-light on Suter as well but we really need a decision to be made becasue we need to be able to know if we can move on or not and build the rest of our team as well do other teams. I say they get until 4 of July and than we start going after someone else, becasue this isn't fair to any of the other team that are in contention to them while we are waiting on them to make up their minds other teams that aren't in the Parise and Suter race can build their team and by the time Suter and Parise make up their mind all of the decent talent is already grabbed up. I realize I'm very impacient but we need to hear something soon. IMHO After Tomorrow "SCREW THEM BOTH"- 487 replies

List of why Zach Parise and Ryan Suter should choose the Red Wings...
