I don't see how this fixes their goaltending issues at all. Bobrovsky struggled on a strong team, I see him being little better than Mason in Columbus.
-
Pretty tough October, hope they get off to a good start.

Its popular to hate on Mule these days, that's why people do it. People like to pretend the streakiness is a new thing, but Holland and co. and anyone else paying attention would know that he's always been streaky, even back in 08 when everyone loved him (didn't a huge % of his goals that year come in March?). Fact is, he's led the team in goals for the past two years, and has a very friendly cap hit. If the Wings move him out, it had better be for someone who scores more than 30 goals a season to make up for his lost offense. My biggest knock on Franzen is that he doesn't use his size as effectively as he could. He's one of our only big forwards, but doesn't play big.

Last I heard was cast off, expected to make full recovery on time. Will work on getting strength back in his arm this summer.

For Helm, anything lower than 2.5 is pretty good, especially for four years. But I agree with you, don't want to overpay for Abby and Quincey. Abby around 1.5 would be OK with me and Quincey for less than 3.75. Have a feeling both will be paid a little more though.

I am happy! Four years is definitely worth the extra 100k or so. I have a feeling that in a couple of years this will be considered one of the best contracts on the team.

Exit interview with legendary Red Wing Nicklas Lidstrom
hooon replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Wow this is amazing, thanks. -
Good job HockeyCrazy, close one! No idea how I got back in the mix after my horrible first round predictions.
-
Lol how is Chicago that high? Two years of barely squeaking into the playoffs and first round exits and they still have an insanely poor defense and the worst goalie tandem in the league.

So many folks in this thread don't seem to understand the concept of trading a player's rights. This is NOT the same as trading a signed player where you command an equal return on the player being shipped out. Don't understand how anyone could be mad at this. He wasn't going to re-sign with the wings regardless, so its a good thing we got something in return. Either let him walk as a UFA and watch him sign with the Sharks, OR trade his rights and get value for him. Its a no brainer.
-
Am I the only one who doesn't think this is that great of a signing? The Pens now have 7,000,000 locked up on goalies alone.
-
Ew not a chance.

Doesn't make any sense whatsoever, especially for a 38 year old injury free goalie with one year left on a contending team that he just won a cup and Conn Smythe with. I have no idea what factors would contribute to a decision like this in his life, but it seems plain as day that any normal person would play out this remaining year (its 5 million dollars!) and THEN retire, if indeed rest and relaxation is what he seeks. He's a strange dude.

The Wings looked putrid because they were also missing Datsyuk, Howard, MacDonald, Helm, Eaves, and Ericsson during that same stretch that Lidstrom was out.

NJD/LAK: 4-0

Bring em all back!
-
The last 2 times the Wings won the cup, Hasek was on the roster.
-
For 24/7 purposes alone, I hope this happens!

Honestly, nothing you've ever posted needs to be repeated here, or anywhere. Ever.

Filppula, Zetterberg, and Franzen also for their countries.

PHX/LAK: 4-1 NYR/NJD: 4-3

First of all, Parise is NOT weak defensively, have you ever watched this guy play at all? Or are you simply pulling up his stats from this past year (when his centerman was injured for almost the entirety of the year)? And you would rather have HUDLER over PARISE? lol One of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on here.

They should get this guy to replace Eddie O.
